Disability is one of problems in leprosy or Morbus Hansen (MH), which can cause the patient loose his autonomy and may affect his social relationship with family and community. Disability occurs due to neurological inflammation that can manifest as silent neuritis (which develops without any pain). Vulvar lymphangioma is a rare case and often being misdiagnosed as genital wart. This acquired disorder manifests as dilatation of superficial lymph vessel due to obstruction. It is caused by urogenital infection and most often occurs following surgery and radiotherapy of cervical cancer. The diagnosis is established based on clinical and histopathological features. Treatment aimed to eliminate the cause of obstruction. This article reports two cases of vulvar lymphangioma found in our Hospital.

Atypical mycobacterial (AM) infection is caused by Mycobacterium species other than M.tuberculosis. AM skin infection has clinical manifestations that resemble M. tuberculosis infection and deep fungal infection. Laboratory workup is necessary to confirm the diagnosis.

An 83-year old female came with a painful lump and swelling on her right lower extremity since three months before admission. Physical examination revealed a plaque consisting, of multiple erythematous and hyperpigmented papules and nodules, diffuse erythematous lesion, and shallow ulcers partially covered with pus and crust. The use of dermoscopy in non-pigmented skin disorders includes dermoscopy as a diagnostic tool for non- pigmented skin tumors, inflammatory diseases (inflammoscopy) and/or infectious disease (entomodermoscopy), lesions on nail fold and as a tool to monitor skin reaction as a response to treatment and/or side effect. The diagnosis becomes easier, faster and less expensive with dermoscopy without the need for invasive procedures. Knowledge on vascular pattern and its architectural arrangement; which is coupled with additional dermoscopic features, can aid clinicians to the diagnosis. This paper covers three different areas concerning handwashing. First a review of the history of handwashing is done, going from ancient times to its introduction into modern medicine via Dr. Ignaz Semmelweis. This section gives a sobering reminder not to instantly reject data that comes in conflict with prevalent thought.

Then current medical knowledge about handwashing is examined, and the conclusion reached states that handwashing is best done with non-antibacterial soap.

Objective: The objective of this evidence based medicine review is to determine whether or not Juvederm Ultra Plus is effective in treating nasolabial fold wrinkles over a one year period.

Study Design: Three blinded, randomized controlled trials were reviewed and selected based on their relevance to the clinical question and their inclusion of patient oriented outcomes (POEMS).

Data Sources: Each study was obtained by searching Cochrane, PubMed databases, and product package insert.

Outcome Measured: The outcomes measured were improvement in NLF wrinkle on a five point Wrinkle Assessment Scale compared to baseline.

Clinical extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) treatment to ablate kidney stones can cause acute damage to the renal microvasculature. Accumulation of continued treatment with shockwave therapy can lead to chronic damage to the kidney, and lead to clinical hypertension. Shockwaves have been shown to stimulate endothelial cells to release superoxide (SO), which is converted to hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂), and reacts with nitric oxide (NO) to produce peroxynitrite anion (OONO^-), creating a powerful oxidant that increases oxidative stress while simultaneously reducing NO bioavailability. Two Mamdani type fuzzy models (three inputs–one output and two inputs–one output) were developed to predict the permeability of compounds through human skin. The models were derived from multiple data sources including laboratory data, published data bases, published statistical models, and expert opinion. The inputs to the model include information about the compound (molecular weight and octonal–H₂O partition coefficient) and the application temperature. The first part of my dissertation focuses on the expression and function of PPARs in human melanoma. I found that the A375 cells were significantly growth inhibited in response to _PGJ2 and troglitazone treatment. HEMn-LP showed significant growth inhibition in response to troglitazone. I found that PPARγ and PPARδ mRNA is present in both the SK-Mel 28 and A375 cells. The relative level of PPARα mRNA expression is highest in SK-Mel 28 cells, ~3 fold higher relative to both the normal human melanocytes and A375 cells. The skin is a major exposure route for many potentially toxic chemicals. It is, therefore, important to be able to predict the permeability of compounds through skin under a variety of conditions. Available skin permeability databases are often limited in scope and not conducive to developing effective models. This sparseness and ambiguity of available data prompted the use of fuzzy set theory to model and predict skin permeability. Using a previously published database containing 140 compounds, a rule-based Takagi–Sugeno fuzzy model is shown to predict skin permeability of compounds using octanol-water partition coefficient, molecular weight, and temperature as inputs.
