Introduction: In contemporary medical curricula, anatomy education frequently encounters fragmentation due to the reliance on disparate resources, including gross anatomy platforms, histology and pathology websites, radiological imaging repositories, and separate assessment tools. This cognitive switching can disrupt the learning flow and hinder the integration of micro- and macroscopic concepts. At Roseman University of Health Sciences (RUCOM), we aimed to centralize the student learning experience by utilizing the Sectra Educational Portal (SEP) not merely as a visualization tool but as a primary hub for asynchronous learning. This presentation outlines our workflow for embedding interactive H5P exercises and external histology repositories directly …

School of Podiatric Medicine - Student Research
The dorsalis pedis artery is a main artery of the dorsum of the foot. It directly arises from the anterior tibial artery and travels distally to the base of the 1st metatarsal. Its main function includes supplying oxygenated blood to the dorsal surface of the foot. A weak dorsalis pedis pulse is an indication of underlying circulation issue, such as peripheral vascular disease. Anatomical variations of the artery are not uncommon, including the total absence of the artery. Branching variations occur in approximately 10% of the population. Knowledge of these variations is critical for surgeons to prevent surgical complications

This thesis tests the hypothesis that the spike protein of SARV-CoV-2 is under positive evolutionary selection. A consensus nucleotide sequence was generated for the most current SARS-CoV-2 variant, XBB1.5, by performing sequence alignments of recent isolates. The consensus nucleotide sequence was translated to obtain the amino acid sequence. The amino acid and nucleotide sequences were compared to the original Wuhan-hu-1 strain to identify mutations. Forty-three mutations were identified in the spike protein, and all but two changed the amino acid. The majority of mutations were found in the receptor binding domain of the spike protein, which is the region of …

An Examination Of The Role Of Adrenergic Receptor Stimulation In Mediating The Link Between Early-Life Stress And The Sensitization Of Neuroinflammatory-Based Depressive-Like Behavior In Isolated Guinea Pig Pups, Rachel Renate Kessler
Browse all Theses and Dissertations
Early-life stress appears to sensitize neuroinflammatory signaling to increase later vulnerability for stress-related mental disorders. How stress initiates this process is unknown, but sympathetic nervous system activation during the early stress may be key. Isolated guinea pig pups display inflammatory-mediated depressive-like behavior and fever that sensitize on repeated isolation. We assessed whether sympathetic nervous system activity contributed to the sensitization process in guinea pig pups. In Experiment 1, the adrenergic agonist ephedrine, either alone or with cortisol, did not increase depressive-like behavior or fever during an initial isolation the following day. In Experiment 2, both depressive-like behavior and fever sensitized …
