Objectives: To develop a multiparametric quantitative MRI (qMRI) method to track pathological changes in the peripheral neuropathies.

Background: Irrespective of the causes or types of polyneuropathies, peripheral nerves are mainly afflicted by two kinds of pathologies – axonal loss and demyelination. It is critical to differentiate between the two as treatments are different for the two conditions. While nerve conduction studies (NCS) have been used to differentiate the two pathologies in the distal nerves, there are no tools to probe the pathologies in the proximal peripheral nerves. This is particularly needed when distal nerves become non-responsive in NCS.

SCAD (Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection) is a rare disorder which rarely recurs. It is increasingly diagnosed as a cause for acute coronary syndrome (ACS) with limited insight into its pathophysiology and treatment. Lack of randomized trials and consensus guidelines make this a unique and challenging disease to manage. We describe a complex case of recurrent idiopathic SCAD with prior history of NSTE-ACS (Non-ST elevation Acute Coronary Syndrome) and discuss its management based on current clinical practices.

Introduction: The coronary sinus is responsible for venous drainage of the heart. Congenital anomalies of the coronary sinus are rare and typically associated with other anomalies, such as atrial septal defects or other congenital heart malformations.

Clinical Findings: We present a case of incidentally found atresia of the coronary sinus ostium with associated persistent left superior vena cava. This case involved a 52-year-old patient who initially presented with a supraventricular tachycardia and elevated troponin.

The locus and extent of brain damage in the event of vascular insult can be quantitatively established quickly and easily with vascular atlases. Although highly anticipated by clinicians and clinical researchers, no digital MRI arterial atlas is readily available for automated data analyses. We created a digital arterial territory atlas based on lesion distributions in 1,298 patients with acute stroke. The lesions were manually traced in the diffusion-weighted MRIs, binary stroke masks were mapped to a common space, probability maps of lesions were generated and the boundaries for each arterial territory was defined based on the ratio between probabilistic maps. …

Objective: To evaluate the association between baseline cognitive function, intervention dropout, adherence and 3-month weight loss (WL) when controlling for confounding demographic variables.

Methods: 107 (Mage = 40.9 yrs.), BMI in the overweight and obese range (BMI = 35.6 kg/m2), men (N = 17) and women (N = 90) completed a 3-month WL intervention. Survivors of unwanted sexual contact have an increased likelihood of using substances in sexual situations, which puts them at heightened risk for intoxication-related harms. Separately, research has indicated that women may intentionally use substances in sexual situations to either enhance pleasure (i.e., increase sexual excitation) and/or reduce sexual anxiety or shame (i.e., reduce sexual inhibition), a phenomenon termed sex-linked substance use (SLSU). Trained health staff assessed dandruff prevalence by physical examination, and the haircare practice was measured using a questionnaire.
