Purpose:
To evaluate the dosimetric performance and delivery efficiency of 6MV flattening filter free (6FFF) and 10MV flattening filter free (10FFF) VMAT beam energies for deep inspiration breath- hold (DIBH) liver stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), with emphasis on treatment time, breath-hold demands, and organ at risk (OAR) sparing.
Methods:
Ten previously treated DIBH liver SBRT patients were retrospectively replanned using standardized VMAT geometry, identical optimization objectives, and consistent contouring. Daily adaptive prostate stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) is now feasible with advances in adaptive radiotherapy and automated optimization. However, the dosimetric quality of Ethos Intelligent Optimization Engine version 2 (IOE v2) automated plans may vary because optimization is based on user-defined templates rather than patient-specific dose guidance. This retrospective study evaluated whether integrating RapidPlan knowledge-based planning (KBP)–derived optimization objectives into the Ethos IOE v2 adaptive planning workflow improved dosimetric quality for prostate SBRT. Purpose
Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients benefit by starting radiation therapy (RT) promptly upon diagnosis. Diagnostic scan-based radiation therapy planning (DBRP) eliminates the need for computed tomography (CT) simulation. This is a retrospective study comparing dosimetric differences between volumetric arc therapy (VMAT) diagnostic scan-based plans recalculated onto simulation CT scans.
Methods
Radiotherapy (60 or 66 Gy in 20-30 fractions) for eight NSCLC patients was planned on diagnostic CTs. The plans were recalculated onto the fused simulation CTs, mimicking first treatment setups. Soft tissue sarcomas (STS) affect about 13,500 people annually in the United States, and those in the lower extremities present unique challenges in radiation therapy due to the wide variability in tumor sizes, sometimes exceeding 30cm. Traditional treatment involves C-Arm linear accelerators using Volumetric Modulated Radiation Therapy (VMAT), which provides precise targeting while sparing nearby organs. Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this research was to investigate the impact of differing hair densities on dose distributions for proton plans in the head and neck region.
Methods: Four CT scans were acquired with varying hair densities. Plans were created on a no hair scan using both a 3cm and 5cm range shifter. Plans were then calculated using three additional datasets with varying hairstyles to analyze dosimetric differences. Water equivalent depth and distance from 80% isodose line to user origin were analyzed for each scan and compared.

Abstract Introduction The purpose of the work is to see if there is a dosimetric benefit to using one treatment modality over another when treating centrally located brain tumors. These modalities include helical tomotherapy, non-coplanar VMAT, and coplanar VMAT. Methods Thirty plans were created from ten previously treated patient’s datasets. All patients were planned using a simultaneously integrated boost with a PTV54 and PTV 60. The conformity index and homogeneity index were compared for targets.
