Survivors of unwanted sexual contact have an increased likelihood of using substances in sexual situations, which puts them at heightened risk for intoxication-related harms. Separately, research has indicated that women may intentionally use substances in sexual situations to either enhance pleasure (i.e., increase sexual excitation) and/or reduce sexual anxiety or shame (i.e., reduce sexual inhibition), a phenomenon termed sex-linked substance use (SLSU). A predominant assumption in the literature is that women with unwanted sex histories are more likely to disengage during sex, suggesting greater inhibition-related SLSU; however, there is little prior research directly examining if women who have unwanted sex …

Objective: To evaluate the association between baseline cognitive function, intervention dropout, adherence and 3-month weight loss (WL) when controlling for confounding demographic variables.

Methods: 107 (Mage = 40.9 yrs.), BMI in the overweight and obese range (BMI = 35.6 kg/m2), men (N = 17) and women (N = 90) completed a 3-month WL intervention. Participants attended weekly behavioral sessions, comply with a reduced calorie diet, and complete 100 min of physical activity (PA)/wk. Cognitive function tasks at baseline included Flanker (attention), Stroop (executive control) and working memory, demographics, body weight and cardiovascular fitness were assessed at baseline. Concussions present with a myriad of symptomatic and cognitive concerns; however, the relationship between these functional disruptions and the underlying changes in the brain are not yet well understood. Hubs, or brain regions that are connected to many different functional networks, may be specifically disrupted after concussion. Given the implications in concussion research, we quantified hub disruption within the default mode network (DMN) and between the DMN and other brain networks. PURPOSE: This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of a gaming system in improving balance and strength after recovery from an anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR). Existing bilateral deficits in strength and balance were also assessed among patients. METHODS: Four participants between the ages of 18-24 were recruited for this case-control study. Participants must have had ACL reconstruction surgery in the last 2 years, been discharged from formal physical therapy, and have a continued history of participating in physical activity at least three times a week. A comprehensive literature review was completed by the authors using Google Scholar, Pubmed, Cochrane Review, and Science Direct using a combination of phrases related to the title of this article that discussed various treatment modalities for plantar plate injuries. Ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia techniques are valuable tools for anesthesia providers to learn and implement in their practice. Two specific blocks that student registered nurse anesthetists (SRNAs) need to utilize are PECS-II and the Intrapec block for reconstructive breast augmentation and mastectomies. Teaching these blocks to SRNAs in the clinical setting may be difficult as they will be under higher pressure to perform since they will be practicing on live patients. Catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infections (CAUTIs) are a leading cause of healthcare acquired infections. Strong evidence for CAUTI best practices exists, however, the struggle to translate best practice evidence into everyday practice remains a challenge. Catheter associated urinary tract infection rates continue to be a problem despite organizational efforts to implement best practice guidelines; the challenge is to effectively translate and embed best practices into everyday practice. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) will no longer reimburse hospitals for expenses associated with hospital acquired CAUTI; moreover, hospitals are subject to penalties for high rates of hospital acquired CAUTIs. …

However, their role in scientific studies has been relatively recent. Background: Social determinants of health, such as race and ethnicity, can have a significant impact on people's health and well-being. People of color are more likely to experience poverty, lack of access to healthcare, and discrimination, which can lead to worse health outcomes. Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is a surgical procedure to remove the gallbladder. It is the most common gastrointestinal surgery performed in the United States. Abstract: Chronic limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI) is a serious condition that can lead to amputation and even death. Open and endovascular revascularization are two common treatment options for CLTI, but the optimal treatment approach remains controversial. This study compared the 30-Day outcomes of open and endovascular revascularization using data from the National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (NSQIP) database. The study included 6,780 patients who underwent open bypass with saphenous vein, 4,201 patients who underwent open bypass with alternative conduit, and 8,887 patients who underwent endovascular intervention. BACKGROUND: The current College of American Pathologist (CAP) recommendation is that breast biomarkers Estrogen (ER), Progesterone (PR) and HER2 neu (Her2) testing be done on all primary invasive breast carcinomas and on recurrent or metastatic tumors with the aim to identify patients that will benefit from hormonal treatment or anti-Her2 therapy.
