OBJECTIVE: To study the effects of FET and FET post PGT (FET/PGT) on pre-term and very pre-term deliveries in patients undergoing IVF with elective single embryo transfer (eSET).

DESIGN: Retrospective cohort Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART) data study.

MATERIALS AND METHODS: A retrospective cohort study was conducted using the publicly available data in the SART National Summary Report from 2014 to 2017. First described by Jean-Martin Charcot in the 1800s, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive degenerative motor neuron disease. Motor neurons are very important cells, and extremely unique since they can be very long with some motor neurons having a length of over a meter (“Disease Mechanisms,” n.d.).

Fibromyalgia is a chronic musculoskeletal disorder which results in widespread pain, fatigue, cognitive difficulties, and emotional distress (CDC, 2017). It is also associated with abnormal pain processing. About 2% of US adults have Fibromyalgia, and the disease is more common in middle-aged women, particularly those who have other illnesses like Lupus or Rheumatoid Arthritis (CDC, 2017). The exact cause of the disease is unknown, but it is likely a combination of genetics, infections and physical and emotional trauma. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is a new form of treatment being used to heal and help improve symptoms of traumatic brain injuries, external wounds, and strokes. HBOT helps to completely saturate hemoglobin with oxygen, which then allows for a larger capacity of oxygen to be delivered to the damaged tissues. Tissue wounds benefit from this HBOT because of the increase in oxygen supply to the damaged area, helping to combat hypoxia, which is preventing proper wound healing. The increase in oxygen allows for an increase in myofibroblast differentiation to allow the healing process to continue. HBOT has also proven to increase …

This article is written to document the research conducted by student Brady Fritz and mentor Dr. Norma Ortiz-Robinson during the 2019 Student Summer Scholars Program at Grand Valley State University. The mathematical model used was developed by Dr. Ami Radunskaya and Dr. Sarah Hook, and it describes the population of certain groups of cells over time after administration of a certain cancer vaccine. The model was programmed into specialized software that evaluates the optimal control of the vaccine given specified control parameters. The output was then analyzed to properly describe the solution obtained.

Oral anticoagulants are a critical component of stroke prevention, but carry a risk of brain hemorrhage. These hemorrhagic complications tend to occur in elderly individuals, especially those with predisposing conditions such as cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA). Clinical evidence suggests that non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants are safer than traditional oral anticoagulants. We analyzed whether the anticoagulant dabigatran produces cerebral microhemorrhage (the pathological substrate of MRI-demonstrable cerebral microbleeds) or intracerebral hemorrhage in aged mice with and without hemorrhage-predisposing angiopathy. A Gastric Bezoar is defined as an accumulation of indigestible foreign material found in an individual’s GI tract. The incidence of gastric bezoar is 0.3% as reported by endoscopy studies. These formations usually consist of insoluble vegetable matter (phytobezoars), hair (trichobezoars), or medications (pharmacobezoar). In general, they can be asymptomatic for many years or cause nonspecific symptoms including abdominal pain, early satiety, and weight loss. Congenital Toxoplasmosis (CT) can have severe consequences. France, Austria, and Slovenia have prenatal screening programs whereas some other countries are considering universal screening to reduce congenital transmission and severity of infection in children. The efficiency of such programs is debated increasingly as seroprevalence among pregnant women and incidence of congenital toxoplasmosis show a steady decrease. In addition, uncertainty remains regarding the effectiveness of pre- and postnatal treatments.

Objective: To determine surgical outcomes for robotic-assisted partial nephrectomy when surgeons reviewed 3-D virtual reality (VR) models during operative planning.

Design, Setting, and Participants: A single-blind randomized clinical trial was performed. • The United States is currently experiencing an opioid epidemic, which claims 115 lives daily by overdose.
• Tools for identifying patients at increased risk for abuse include: Screener and Opioid Assessment for Patients with Pain (SOAPP-R) and Opioid Risk Tool (ORT).
• However, data is lacking for the comparison of the two most commonly used opioid screen tools (SOAPP-R and ORT).

Purpose: To evaluate selective apoptosis of Y79 retinoblastoma versus ARPE-19 retinal pigment epithelial cells by using different doses of dextran-coated iron oxide nanoparticles (DCIONs) in a magnetic hyperthermia paradigm. Methods: Y79 and ARPE-19 cells were exposed to different concentrations of DCIONs, namely, 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, and 1 mg/ml. After 2 hours of incubation, cells were exposed to a magnetic field with a frequency of 250 kHz and an amplitude of 4 kA/m for 30 minutes to raise the cellular temperature between 42 and 46°C. Purpose and Significance: Therapeutic riding (TR) is equine-assisted riding lessons that are adapted for people with a wide variety of impairments and is often used as an adjunct to traditional therapies. Previous research has shown that TR helped to improve sensory functioning, cognition and social skills in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) but sessions have typically been for 10-12 weeks.
