Angioedema (AE) is a potentially life-threatening medical condition that occurs with a higher frequency than medical providers may expect, with the emergency department (ED) serving as the usual first point of medical contact for patients. Any hesitation in recognizing AE or inconsideration of the disease process in differential diagnoses may lead to a dangerous delay of care. Due to the potential rapid progression of airway obstruction in AE, inexperienced providers should not attempt intubation, instead deferring to providers experienced in alternative airway techniques (i.e., anesthesia providers). Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) is an overgrowth of bacteria in the small intestine. Symptoms such as bloating, abdominal pain and discomfort, malabsorption, nausea, constipation, or diarrhea overlap with several common GI complaints. SIBO affects millions of people worldwide. Many providers are not aware of SIBO or the guidelines that standardize testing and diagnosing.

The Final Scholarly Project (FSP) was based on a literature review that discovered evidence-based literature on SIBO testing strategies such as gut aspirate and culture, clinical symptom presentation, breath testing, nutrient challenge test, and scintigraphy with either lactulose or hydrogen breath testing. The purpose of this research is to identify abnormal gait parameters or patterns amongst young adults with multiple disabilities enrolled in a work transition program sponsored by a public-school system. Gait disorders are commonly seen in individuals with neurologic disorders, with significant research in children with autism. Gait disorders have been linked with fall and injury risk, with significant research in elderly populations. Gait analysis technology can be used to identify gait characteristics in populations that are abnormal or contribute to gait disorders. The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between step frequency, the Running Readiness Scale, and Running-Related Injury rate among the Otterbein cross-country team during the Fall 2016 season. Step frequencies were calculated for each athlete at a preferred and pre-determined pace. As a part of the running Readiness Scale assessment, each athlete completed a series of screening tasks to assess body alignment, weight distribution, and muscular endurance. The objective of this study was to investigate the changes that occur in the gait of a set of subjects after they ride a horse. Eleven riders with a developmental disability were selected and included in an experimental group and nineteen “typical” subjects or those without a developmental disability were included as a second comparison group. The length of time the subjects were able to remain standing in a tandem stance and in a one-legged stance without becoming unbalanced was measured and recorded. In a time of rapidly changing medical information, practitioners must have learning skills that enable them to be effective life-long learners. A part of an examination of a final clinical internship for rehabilitation professionals was a pre-post measure of learner self-direction and self-determination. Two instruments, the Self-Directed Learning Readiness Scale (SDLRS) and the Academic Motivation Scale (AMS- reported as Self-Determination Index (SDI) were used with a sample of Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) and Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) students. Pre-testing occurred just prior to and post-testing just after the subjects’ final clinical assignments. Both groups increased mean scores from …
