Over the last several years, a noteworthy association between gastrointestinal (GI) disorders and autism spectrum disorders (ASD) has been documented, although no large population-based studies exist. GI disorders in ASD children may stem from the underlying behavioral, communication, sensory or neurological issues intrinsic to the autistic disorder itself; therefore, the incorporation of alternative therapies, including behavioral modification, may be compelling treatment additions to the GI care traditionally recommended in children. To improve GI symptoms and quality of life in ASD children, a multidisciplinary approach is optimal, with pharmacists playing an active role in determining appropriate pharmacotherapy. Introduction: Double pylorus is a rare endoscopic finding that has been reported in 0.001% to 0.4% of upper gastrointestinal endoscopies, consisting of a gastroduodenal fistula extending from the prepyloric gastric antrum to the duodenal bulb through an accessory channel. In the majority of cases, it is a complication when peptic ulcers erode and create a fistula between the duodenal bulb and the distal stomach. It usually presents on the lessor curvature of the gastric antrum and on a superior wall of the duodenal bulb. It is commonly an endoscopic finding, since clinical presentation is similar to other peptic diseases.

Lymphangioma is a benign congenital malformation of the lymphatic system that is relatively common in juvenile population. Rarely, it can be seen in adults and majority of the cases are reported in the head and neck region (70-75%). Typically, these malformations are asymptomatic. In this report, we present a rare case of splenic lymphangioma presenting with severe, intractable abdominal pain.

Introduction: Iron deficiency anemia is a global health problem with an estimated two billion cases worldwide. Oral iron supplementation is considered the first line treatment. However, recent studies favor the use of short-term IV iron especially in patients with drug tolerance and efficacy concerns. In this report, we present three cases of iron pill gastropathy in patient's whose clinical courses were complicated by gastric erosion, ulcer or gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding. All of our patients had a history of iron deficiency anemia and were being treated with oral ferrous sulfate.

•Spontaneous fungal peritonitis (SFP) is an infection defined as a neutrophil count (> 250 cells/mL) in the ascitic fluid with the evidence of positive fungal culture (1) while excluding other intra-abdominal infections. SFP is not as common as spontaneous bacterial peritonitis and has higher mortality rates due to late recognition and difficulty in differentiation between SFP and SBP. (1,2). Introduction: Abdominal wall hernia is defined as a protrusion of a part or whole organ through the wall of a cavity. Inguinal hernias account for 75% of abdominal wall hernias, with a lifetime risk of 27% in men and 3% in women. Indirect inguinal hernia account for 80% of total inguinal hernias. A wide variety of pathological processes can present as inguinal hernias however, large reducible inguinal hernias are quite rare. The word amyotrophic is derived from Greek, and means “without nourishment to muscles”, lateral means to the sides and sclerosis means hardened (“What is ALS?,” n.d.). First described by Jean-Martin Charcot in the 1800s, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive degenerative motor neuron disease. Motor neurons are very important cells, and extremely unique since they can be very long with some motor neurons having a length of over a meter (“Disease Mechanisms,” n.d.).

Fibromyalgia is a chronic musculoskeletal disorder which results in widespread pain, fatigue, cognitive difficulties, and emotional distress (CDC, 2017). It is also associated with abnormal pain processing. About 2% of US adults have Fibromyalgia, and the disease is more common in middle-aged women, particularly those who have other illnesses like Lupus or Rheumatoid Arthritis (CDC, 2017). The exact cause of the disease is unknown, but it is likely a combination of genetics, infections and physical and emotional trauma. Oral anticoagulants are a critical component of stroke prevention, but carry a risk of brain hemorrhage. These hemorrhagic complications tend to occur in elderly individuals, especially those with predisposing conditions such as cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA). Clinical evidence suggests that non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants are safer than traditional oral anticoagulants. We analyzed whether the anticoagulant dabigatran produces cerebral microhemorrhage (the pathological substrate of MRI-demonstrable cerebral microbleeds) or intracerebral hemorrhage in aged mice with and without hemorrhage-predisposing angiopathy. A Gastric Bezoar is defined as an accumulation of indigestible foreign material found in an individual’s GI tract. The incidence of gastric bezoar is 0.3% as reported by endoscopy studies. These formations usually consist of insoluble vegetable matter (phytobezoars), hair (trichobezoars), or medications (pharmacobezoar). Identifying which genes are early indicators for preterm births using cell-free ribonucleic acid (cfRNA) from non-invasive blood tests provided by pregnant women can improve prenatal care. Currently, there are no medical tests for early detection of preterm birth risk in routine checkups for pregnant women. Recent studies have shown potential genes that can predict preterm birth. Machine learning techniques are utilized to see if the Area Under the Curve (AUC) can be improved upon when evaluating the prediction accuracy for chosen genes sequences and concentrations.
