With the outbreak of autoimmune diseases, pathogenic yeasts have begun to pose a serious medical threat. This threat is compounded as more of these yeasts evolve resistance to existing antifungal drugs. In the ever-widening search for new, effective antifungal treatment, the realm of herbal medicine offers some interesting and potentially valuable alternatives. Origanum vulgare is one herb that has demonstrated broad spectrum antimicrobial activity against bacteria and fungi alike. Medicinal plants are polyvalent remedies used in industry and medicine. They have curative and preventative powers when used internally and externally on humans. They are also used for agricultural and veterinary purposes. They are necessary to the human body to give health and strength. Medicinal plants influence spiritism, religion, and science. These three worldviews make value judgments regarding medicinal plants. This study determines some limits and interdependencies of each worldview by looking at how they are influenced by medicinal plants in Tulear, Madagascar.

Objective : Objective of the study was to elicit the pharmacodynamic response of the drug, Argemone mexicana (prickly poppy) on healthy human volunteers, in non-toxic doses. Methodology : The drug was proved through a double-blind placebo controlled technique and is a multi-centric study. Trial drug was proved in three potencies (200C, 30C and 6C) on 38 volunteers who were selected and declared apparently healthy during their pre-trial examination by specialists. Amoora rohituka or Andersonia has been used by Indian physicians as a medicine for splenic disorders since longtime. In Ayurvedic literatures it has been mentioned as an alterative, astringent and a tonic for liver and spleen enlargement. A prospective study of the patients suffering from cervical spondylosis treated with bowel nosodes was conducted with the objective to study their efficacy when prescribed on the basis of stool culture report. The stool cultures of 82 enrolled cases were done for isolation of non-lactose fermenting bowel organisms. On the basis of the presence of the predominant bacteria in the stool of patient suffering from cervical spondylosis, the corresponding bowel nosode was administered. In this study,we have chosen HPTLC (High Performance Thin Layer Chromatography) as a method of analysis to develop a standard procedure based on fingerprinting characteristics for the evaluation of homreopathic formulations. A simple and accurate HPTLC method has been developed for the quantification of brucine,one of the chief active chemical components of Nux vomica (along with strychnine),and the fingerprinting of the in-house mother tincture of Nux vomica, considered here to be a standard, with that of different marketed samples available from manufacturers of homreopathic medicines in India. This HPTLC method was quantitatively evaluated in terms of stability, repeatability, and accuracy.

Objectives: This study aimed to evolve a group of most effective homoeopathic medicines in the management of sinusitis, to identify their reliable indications, most useful potencies, frequency of administration, and their relationship with other medicines. Methods: An open, multi-centric, prospective, observational study was carried out during the period 1985 -2003. Castanea sativa Mill. A tree belonging to the family Fagaceae is a potential drug in Homoeopathy. The leaves are used as tonic, astringent, In paroxysmal coughs and diarrhoea. The leaves are large, lanceotate with deep serrate margins and covered by indumentum on the lower side. The epidermis has cells with thick straight to curved or wavy sides. This article describes the Dietary Supplements Labels Database, a new resource from the National Library of Medicine that integrates information from dietary supplement manufacturers, government agencies, and clinical research into an easy-to-use interface. This database contains information on more than 2,000 brands of dietary supplement and more than 800 active ingredients. This resource will greatly assist consumers and health care providers in evaluating the safety, efficacy, and quality of dietary supplements. Features of the resource will be described as well as the browse and search methods used to access the information.
