Homoeopathic Raw Drug Plant Sources- Ii: Non-Angiosperm Groups Bryophytes, Pteridophytes & Gymnosperms, D Baburat, H Gupta

Indian Journal of Research in Homoeopathy

Among the plants used in the homoeopathic system of medicine,by far a large number are derived from the flowering plants. Of the lower groups, those having chlorophyll but lacking a proper organized higher plant structure belong to Algae and Lichens which have been dealt with separately, along with the non- chlorophyllous Fungi. The Bryophytes constitute a separate group of which only one representative is used in Homoeopathy. These plants too lack an organized plant body though analogous structures begin to evolve. From the group of plants known as Pteridophytes, an organized plant body structure emerges having stem-like,root-like and leaf-like organs.Only five …

The quote holds true because whenever we select a topic for research, in that particular area or subject, our knowledge is incomplete and problems are awaiting to be solved. We address the void in our knowledge and those unresolved problems by asking relevant questions and seeking answers to them. The role of research is to provide a method for obtaining those answers by studying the evidence within the parameters of the scientific method.

Treating Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia In Elderly Men With Homoeopathy- A Series Of Eleven Cases, G. Ravi Chandra Reddy, Praveen Oberoi, Vikram Singh, C. Nayak

Indian Journal of Research in Homoeopathy

Background & Objectives: Benign prostatic hyperplasia is rarely life threatening, but often affects the individual's quality of life in varying degrees. The success rate in treating this condition with conventional therapy is limited and sometimes, treatment follows with side effects. If medical treatment fails, the physician determines the patient as a candidate for surgery. Though a few case records are documented in the past about the success of homoeopathic medicines in treating patients suffering from BPH, yet they lack proper quantitative assessment. Therefore, an observational study was undertaken with an objective to ascertain the usefulness of predefined homoeopathic medicines in …

Inhibition Of Chemically Induced Carcinogenesis By Drugs Used In Homeopathic Medicine, K Hari Kumar, E Sunila, Girija Kuttan, K Preethi, C Venugopal, Ramadasan Kuttan

Indian Journal of Research in Homoeopathy

Homeopathy is considered as one modality for cancer therapy. However, there are only very few clinical reports on the activity of the drugs, as well as in experimental animals. Presently we have evaluated the inhibitory effects of potentized homeopathic preparations against N′- nitrosodiethylamine (NDEA) induced hepatocellular carcinoma in rats as well as 3- methylcholanthrene-induced sarcomas in mice. We have used Ruta, Hydrastis, Lycopodium and Thuja, which are commonly employed in homeopathy for treating cancer. Administration of NDEA in rats resulted in tumor induction in the liver and elevated marker enzymes such as gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase, glutamate pyruvate transaminase, glutamate oxaloacetate transaminase …

Screening of 4543 children between 6-18 years of age from different schools of Delhi was done during the first phase of research study under EMR project by AYUSH, for thyroid function status-clinically, serologically & ultrasonographically. Data of 4506 children has been analyzed & it has been found that goiter is prevalent at mild endemic level in children (17%) even after two decades of iodization. Significant increase in anti TPO ab positivity (6.39%) and thyroid dysfunction (11.92%) raises suspicion about the role of environmental goitrogens and prolonged iodine supplementation
