Background: Vaccine adherence in the pediatric population refers to receiving vaccines as per the recommended schedule, which significantly reduces vaccine-preventable diseases and enhances community immunity. Vaccine hesitancy, driven by concerns such as safety, misinformation, or cultural beliefs can affect adherence. National coverage of state-mandated vaccines among kindergarteners declined from 95% to around 93% between 2019 and 2022, varying across different vaccines. A subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) is a type of stoke where a blood vessel bursts and causes the subarachnoid space to become filled with blood. Traditional nursing management of SAH includes close monitoring of blood pressure goals in order to prevent complications such as vasospasm. Vasospasm causes delayed cerebral ischemia and neurological deficits secondary to the initial injury. Recent research has expanded understanding of the underlying mechanisms behind the neuroinflammatory cascade that occurs after a SAH. BACKGROUND: Falls are a common concern in hospitalized adult patients affecting quality of life, length of stay, and cost.

LOCAL PROBLEM: A quality audit at a community hospital identified increased falls/falls with injury rates on a medical-surgical unit.

METHODS: A quality improvement initiative was implemented using a fall prevention toolkit to understand its effect on total fall/fall with injury rates, nursing knowledge, and nurse perceived efficacy.

INTERVENTIONS: The Fall Tailoring Interventions for Patient Safety (TIPS), an evidence-based toolkit, was implemented over five months.

Aim: To explore the gender pay gap among the Australian nursing workforce and identify reasons for such a gap. Background: Gender discrimination exists in nursing, with men having a higher rate of pay and a faster rate of career progression, irrespective of experience and qualifications. In addition, men are shown to have a greater representation in leadership roles compared to the proportion of men in the profession. The American Society for Enteral and Parenteral Nutrition (ASPEN) and the Society for Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) updated the Adult Patient Enteral Nutrition Guidelines in 2016. These updates included discontinuing routine gastric residual monitoring due to its contribution to poor patient outcomes and mentioning the lack of evidence proving its relevance to gastric motility. Per ASPEN and SCCM, best practice suggests monitoring patients for intolerance symptoms and then checking gastric residual volume (GRV) if symptoms are present. Purpose: The quality improvement project's purpose was to use a group care program to decrease compassion fatigue (work-related stress) in nurses. The project aimed to reduce compassion fatigue in nurses by 25% and nurse turnover rates by 10% post-intervention.

Nurses' perspectives on the use of interpretation technologies compared to other methods for communicating with NELP patients when providing treatment in a hospital setting was explored utilizing a literature review. The literature search was conducted using CINHAL, APA PsychInfo, Medline, and Applied Science & Technology Source databases. The search resulted in 84 articles, of which 6 were eligible to be included in the narrative review. Three themes emerged that helped explain nurses’ perspectives: preferred technology, facilitators/benefits, and barriers/concerns. The nursing shortage is driven, in part, by the critical shortage of nursing faculty. Consequently, qualified potential nursing students are being turned away from nursing schools each year. The preeminent issue influencing the United States nurse faculty workforce shortage is salary; financial compensation is higher in clinical and private-sector settings than educational settings. The purpose of this study is to describe current full-time nurse faculty salary, sources of income, and perceived need for more income, as well as the feasibility and acceptability of research focused on full-time nurse faculty salaries, so to guide future nursing faculty workforce research.
