This study focuses on the growth of children offered longitudinal healthcare by Kids Health for Haiti, using BMI to indicate developmental and nutritional status. Introduction:

Pulmonary carcinoid tumor (PCT) is a rare neuroendocrine lung cancer that is known clinically to be a slow-growing neoplasm. Few studies have established the true growth rate of these tumors when followed over time by radiography. Therefore, we sought to determine PCT tumor doubling time using longitudinal Computed Tomography (CT) scans. Nodule guidelines may misclassify early PCT nodules with a small diameter as benign if tumor growth is too slow to be appreciable on follow up radiographic scans completed between six months and two years after initial detection.

Growth records of genotyped 3012 Anatolian buffaloes and 467 lactations of 329 cows from them were used. The study was conducted to determine growth, slaughter, and carcass characteristics of Lindovskaya geese. While a total of 237 goslings, 101 males, and 136 females were used to determine their growth characteristics, 16 male geese in total were used for the detection of the slaughter and carcass characteristics. Each slaughter group (12 weeks and 16 weeks old) consisted of 8 male geese. It was determined that the effect of sex on body weight values by week was significant (P < 0.05). In addition to this, the body weights of male geese were higher than the body weights of the female geese in all weeks. In the study, it was determined that the effect of the slaughter age on the weights of slaughter, head, blood, intestinal fat, and abdominal fat was significant (P < 0.05). Additionally, the values of the geese slaughtered at 16 weeks were higher compared to the geese slaughtered at 12 weeks. It was detected that the effect of slaughter age on the weight of the hot carcass, cold carcass, neck, breast and back, and other parts were significant (P < 0.05). Moreover, it was concluded that these values increased as the slaughter age increased. As a result, it can be said that slaughter age at 16 weeks was more preferable than at 12 weeks under breeder conditions. Additionally, it has been revealed that Lindovskaya geese need to be reared under controlled conditions, with regular care and feeding, to obtain better results.

In this study, African catfish (Clarias gariepinus) was investigated under controlled conditions in recirculating aquaculture system (RAS). The experiment tested the effects of three different dietary prebiotics (FOS: fructooligosaccharide, GOS: galactooligosaccharide, and MOS: mannanoligosaccharide) in two levels (1 g/kg and 2 g/kg) and a control diet on the growth performance, survival rate, haematological and biochemical parameters, and small intestinal and liver histology of the African catfish. Better growth results were obtained in MOS (2 g/kg) supplementation, and there was a statistical difference (P < 0.05) between the MOS (2 g/kg) and the control group. Haematological parameters (erythrocyte sedimentation rate, red blood cell, white blood cell, lymphocyte, neutrophil, and glucose) were similar among all groups (P > 0.05) while some (alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase enzymes, and monocyte) were significantly different (P < 0.05). The MOS (2 g/kg) group had longer villi length values than the control group. There was no difference among the groups in terms of small intestine histomorphology and liver tissues in fish. According to the results of this experiment, it can be said that MOS addition has a positive effect on growth parameters and could improve health conditions in Clarias gariepinus culture.

Mycoplasma ovipneumoniae is a globally distributed pathogen that has been associated with pneumonia in both domestic and wild Caprinae. It is closely related to M. hyopneumoniae, a respiratory pathogen of swine that is associated with decreased growth rates of pigs as well as clinical respiratory disease. Mother’s own milk (MOM) reduces the risk of morbidities in very low birth weight (VLBW) infants. When MOM is unavailable, donor breastmilk (DM) is used, with unclear impact on short- and long-term growth. This retrospective analysis compared anthropometric data at six time points from birth to 20–24 months corrected age in VLBW infants who received MOM supplements of preterm formula (n = 160) versus fortified DM (n = 161) during neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) hospitalization. To detail immunity, metabolism and nutrition of juvenile American White Pelicans, during 22-23 July 2011, 103 samples of regurgitate matter were collected at five Chase Lake, North Dakota, USA, and three Bitter Lake, South Dakota, USA, sub-colonies. The present study compared neuromuscular fatigue profiles between children, untrained adults and adult endurance athletes during repeated maximal muscle contractions. Eighteen prepubertal boys, 19 untrained men and 13 endurance male athletes performed 5-s maximal voluntary isometric knee extensor contractions (MVICs) interspersed with 5-s recovery until MVIC reached 60% of its initial value. In this study, the effects of feeding with the diets containing hazelnut meal (HM) at different levels (0%, 15%, 30%, and 45%) on the growth performance and body composition of Siberian sturgeon were investigated. The study was carried out for 90 days with 3 replicates (n = 15; 283.1 ± 6.52 g fish weight). Purpose. To identify predictors of communicative participation outcomes for a large cohort of preschoolers with communication disorders.

Method. A secondary analysis of longitudinal program evaluation data from Ontario Canada’s Preschool Speech and Language Program (PSLP). Data available for 46,872 children 18-67 months of age (M = 41.76 mo, SD = 11.92, 68% male) were previously used to predict children’s communicative participation skill development in five levels of function. Demographic and intervention-based variables were added to the models to identify new predictors of growth.
