Background: Rising health care burden has increased demand for general practice nurses. Exploring final-year nursing students’ perceived levels of confidence, interest and intention to work in this area can inform preparation and recruitment of new graduates into this workforce.

Aim: To explore final-year nursing students’ confidence, interest and intention to work in general practice.

Methods: Final-year nursing students from five universities situated in New South Wales, Australia were surveyed between March and June 2019. The survey comprised investigator-developed questions and validated tools adapted for use in general practice.

Accredited occupational therapy education programs are required to include telehealth technology in their curricula as outlined by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education. An innovative Doctor of Occupational Therapy program piloted a telehealth module with first- and second-year students. Both dynamic lecture content and active learning lab exercises were created to advance student knowledge in the use of telehealth technology and to inform occupational therapy telehealth education. Background: Rapid fluid resuscitation is essential to the management of pediatric shock, but there are many barriers to published guideline adherence. Limited evidence describing emergency department (ED) nurse’s knowledge and attitudes of fluid resuscitation exists. This study described pediatric ED nurse’s knowledge and attitudes of fluid resuscitation.

Methods: This single-site descriptive study used survey methodology. A 23-question survey was distributed to nurses in the ED at Boston Children’s Hospital. The survey measured nurse’s knowledge, attitudes, and perceived barriers to fluid resuscitation.

The Emergency Nurses Association recommends nurse preceptorship programs for emergency departments (EDs) to give nurses the skills needed for precepting new nurses; however, many rural areas do not have nurse education for preceptorship, and no standardized training is available for preparing preceptors for their roles. Rural ED preceptors therefore lack knowledge and skills needed for precepting new nurses. Purpose: Active shooter incidents (ASIs) occurring in dental hygiene academic settings present unique challenges and research examining institutional preparation of dental hygiene students for such incidents is lacking. The purpose of this pilot project was to examine the perceived preparedness, confidence, and awareness of dental hygiene students regarding ASIs.

Methods: A validated 24-item electronic survey was distributed to dental hygiene students (n=68) at one institution to measure their preparedness, confidence, and awareness regarding ASIs. Descriptive statistics and Pearson correlations were used for data analysis.

When coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) became a major impediment to face-to-face college instruction in spring 2020, most teaching went online. Over the summer, colleges had to make difficult decisions about whether to return to in-person instruction. Although opening campuses could pose a major health risk, keeping instruction online could dissuade students from enrolling. Taking an ecological approach, the authors use mixed modeling techniques and data from 87 percent of two- and four-year public and four-year private U.S. colleges to assess the factors that shaped decisions about fall 2020 instructional modality. Despite being less efficacious, medications are the most preferred form of treatment for insomnia among most psychiatric clinicians. Providers at the clinical site where the project took place were foregoing CBT in preference to medications. Providers preferred the pharmacotherapeutic approach due to its ease of prescription compared to the psychotherapeutic intervention.
