Yoke Between Covid-19 Infection And Cardiovascular Diseases: Evidence Briefing From Indian Studies, Melita Sheilini
Manipal Journal of Nursing and Health Sciences
Abstract:
Globally, Cardio[ES[M1] [m2] vascular diseases (CVDs) are of major concern. The current pandemic situation of COVID 19 infection has further hiked the burden of cardiovascular problems.
Since India has a large number of cases with cardiovascular problems the interlink between the COVID 19 infection and CVD has greatly challenged the field of medicine.[ES[M3] [m4] Also, the surge in COVID-19 cases in India hampered the regular follow-up of individuals with cardiovascular problems resulting in people seeking health care services only when the health condition gets deteriorated and in need of emergency medical aid. The main reason for this …

COVID-19 and a low vitamin D state share common risk factors, which might explain why vitamin D deficiency has been linked with higher COVID-19 mortality. Moreover, measures of serum vitamin D may become lower during systemic inflammatory responses, further confounding the association via reverse causality. In this prospective study (recruited over 12 months), we examined whether the association between a low vitamin D state and in-hospital mortality due to SARS-CoV-2 pneumonia in unvaccinated subjects is explained by (i) the presence of shared risk factors (e.g., obesity, advanced age) or (ii) a reduction in serum 25(OH)D due to COVID-19 (i.e., reverse …

During the COVID-19 pandemic, wastewater-based epidemiology has emerged as a promising approach for monitoring SARS-CoV-2 prevalence on a community-level. Despite much being known about the utility of making these measurements in large wastewater treatment plants, little is known about the correlation with finer geographic resolution, such as those obtained through sewershed sub-area catchments. This study aims to identify community wastewater surveillance characteristics between sewershed areas that affect the strength of the association of SARS-CoV-2 RNA detection in a metropolitan area. For this, wastewater from 17 sewershed areas were sampled in Louisville/Jefferson County, Kentucky (USA), from August 2020 to April 2021 …

The outbreak of COVID-19 has had a huge global impact, and it continues to test the resilience of medical services to emergencies worldwide. In the current post-epidemic era, vaccination has become a highly effective strategy to prevent the spread of COVID-19. However, using conventional mathematical models to evaluate the spatial distribution of medical resources, including vaccination, ignore people's behaviors and choices and make simplifications to the real world. In this study, we use an enhanced model based on the Theory of People Behavior (TPB) to perform a macro analysis of the satisfaction ability of medical resources for vaccination in Hangzhou, …
