The Indonesian Government established a social distancing policy to prevent COVID-19 transmission. However, this implementation will be ineffective without the compliance of the people. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between public perception and obedience with social distancing in terms of the variables based on the Health Belief Model. This study used a cross-sectional design with a population of Daerah Khusus Ibukota (DKI) Jakarta’s indigenes within the productive age of 15-64 years. The sample comprised 408 participants, with the independent variables of sociodemographics (age, gender, occupation, and education) and health beliefs (perceived susceptibility, severity, benefits, barriers, and self-efficacy). Meanwhile, …

Teledentistry: Strategi Marketing Pelayanan Kesehatan Gigi Dan Mulut Di Era Pandemi Covid-19: Systematic Review, Noormaya Sari, Wahyu Sulistiadi
Jurnal ARSI : Administrasi Rumah Sakit Indonesia
During COVID-19 pandemic, most patients were unwilling to visit the hospital because of fear of COVID-19 contracted, including dental patients, then led to a decrease in the number of patients visits to dental clinics. Hospital managements should have the right marketing strategy so that this situation does not interfere with the operation and income of the hospital. One of the dental service concept that can be developed during the COVID-19 pandemic is teledentistry. The design of this study is a systematic review that searches correlation between dental patients and COVID-19 and marketing strategy. As a result, several studies said that …

BACKGROUND: A school district in Northern Ohio implemented a COVID-19 surveillance program from January 4 to May 21, 2021, as in-person school and extracurricular activities resumed. METHODS: Among 560 staff members and >6300 students, random weekly testing was performed on 563 students and weekly for 204 students participating in extracurricular activities, and 553 staff. RESULTS: Cases of COVID-19 were identified among 26 staff members and 23 students. Most of those infected were participating in extracurricular activities (14/23) and in the age range of 14-18. Percent positivity was low (range 0.2-2.4%) throughout the school surveillance program despite significant changes in positivity …

Objective: To investigate a cluster of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infections in employees working on 1 floor of a hospital administration building. Methods: Contact tracing was performed to identify potential exposures and all employees were tested for SARS-CoV-2. Whole-genome sequencing was performed to determine the relatedness of SARS-CoV-2 samples from infected personnel and from control cases in the health-care system with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) during the same period. Carbon dioxide levels were measured during a workday to assess adequacy of ventilation; readings >800 parts per million (ppm) were considered an indication of suboptimal ventilation. To assess …

The harmful effects of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) can reach the autonomic nervous system (ANS) and endothelial function. Therefore, the detrimental multiorgan effects of COVID-19 could be induced by deregulations in ANS that may persist after the acute SARS-CoV-2 infection. Additionally, investigating the differences in ANS response in overweight/obese, and physically inactive participants who had COVID-19 compared to those who did not have the disease is necessary. The aim of the study was to analyze the autonomic function of young adults after mild-to-moderate infection with SARS-CoV-2 and to assess whether body mass index (BMI) and levels of physical activity modulates …

Cardiovascular complications (especially myocarditis) related to COVID-19 viral infection are not well understood, nor do they possess a well recognized diagnostic protocol as most of our information regarding this issue was derived from case reports. In this article we extract data from all published case reports in the second half of 2020 to summarize the theories of pathogenesis and explore the value of each diagnostic test including clinical, lab, ECG, ECHO, cardiac MRI and endomyocardial biopsy. These tests provide information that explain the mechanism of development of myocarditis that further paves the way for better management.

The COVID-19 pandemic created a situation that abruptly altered the life of nearly every individual, forcing them to adjust their daily habits. Adults who regularly engaged in daily physical activity, either as recreational, collegiate, or professional athletes prior to lockdowns had to subsequently adapt and change their training regimens. PURPOSE: To determine which characteristics (age, sex, education level, socioeconomic status, primary endurance sport, whether the athlete is being coached or following a training program, and prior competition medaling) of recreational, collegiate, and professional endurance athletes were associated with training changes due to COVID-19 safety restrictions. Is Our Student Body Fit? A Comparison Of Current Fitness Levels To Normative Data, Melissa Dorvily, Michelle Etchebaster, Zoey Jackson, Zacharias Papadakis
International Journal of Exercise Science: Conference Proceedings
Physical Activity (PA) among university students yields 40-50% participation and this statistic continues to make a steady decline. This has caused a widespread call to action for universities to provide resources and education to encourage students to increase physical activity. Prior to and during COVID-19 pandemic our student body reported decreased levels of PA. Amid the return to an in-person student life, many students have reported increased challenges in returning to fitness related activities. In tandem with our Exercise is Medicine-On Campus (EIM-OC) initiative, an interactive health fair open to the entire body of 4,495 students was held to address …

“Hiccups” With Covid-19 Management, Yong W. Lee, Jacob Psomiadis, Sarah Akbani, Marvin Lopez-Medal, Aisha Miller
Advances in Clinical Medical Research and Healthcare Delivery
Hiccups, medically referred as singultus, is a condition that results from involuntary contraction of the diaphragm and intercostal muscles. Singultus is usually a self-limiting condition which typically lasts less than 48 hours but in rare cases, can persist greater than 48 hours. This is a case of a 48 year-old male who was prescribed dexamethasone for COVID-19 but developed intractable singultus for two weeks. Patient was unable to tolerate diet due to intractable singultus leading to vomiting. He underwent various non-pharmacological maneuvers and pharmacotherapy without resolution. Dexamethasone- induced hiccups have been reported as an under recognized side effect of dexamethasone. …

Moral Drifting And Covid-19 Precautions: The Impact On Team Stress Levels In Primary Care, Brittany N. Houston, Stacy Ogbeide
Advances in Clinical Medical Research and Healthcare Delivery
The COVID-19 pandemic has given more focus on the concept of moral drifting. Moral or ethical drift is characterized as an insidious movement away from ethical behavior. Not only is this phenomenon present with routine tasks such as going to the grocery store, but it is influential and present in a setting being impacted by COVID-19: primary care. Integrated Primary Care and team-based care are incredibly valuable when caring for complex populations but also vital in mitigating the impacts of stress that moral drifting can cause on individual and team functioning.

Prevention Is Political: Political Party Affiliation Predicts Perceived Risk And Prevention Behaviors For Covid-19, Marc T. Kiviniemi, Heather Orom, Jennifer L. Hay, Erika A. Waters

BACKGROUND: Many US politicians have provided mixed messages about the risks posed by SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19 and whether and to what extent prevention practices should be put in place to prevent transmission. This politicization of the virus and pandemic may affect individuals' risk perceptions and willingness to take precautions. We examined how political party affiliation relates to risk perception for one's own and other people's likelihood of SARS-CoV-2 infection/COVID-19 illness.
METHODS: We surveyed members of a nationally-representative, probability-sampling based survey panel (N = 410) to examine their risk perceptions, precautionary behaviors, and political party affiliation.
RESULTS: The more strongly one identified …
