Objective: To examine whether serotonin (5-HT) related genetic variants moderate the effects of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) on skeletal outcomes. BACKGROUND: Despite the known benefits of preventing human papillomavirus (HPV)-related cancers, HPV vaccine coverage is low in the United States. Grounded in Social Ecological theory, we assessed the macro-level (state) and meso-level (organization) factors associated with HPV vaccine initiation and up-to-date.

METHODS: Data from 2020 National Immunization Survey-Teen were used to study a sample of 20 163 US adolescents (aged 13-17 years). The data were collected from each teen's parents or guardians and health-care professionals. Weighted prevalence estimates were calculated, and multivariable regression analyses were conducted.

The present study examined the behavioral and neural differences in risky decision-making between delinquent (n = 23) and non-delinquent (n = 27) youth ages 13-17 years (M = 16, SD = 0.97) in relation to reward processing. While undergoing functional neuroimaging, participants completed an experimental risk task wherein they received feedback about the riskiness of their behavior in the form of facial expressions that morphed from happy to angry. Behavioral results indicated that delinquent youth took fewer risks and earned fewer rewards on the task than non-delinquent youth. PURPOSE: We examined prescription medication use and identified correlates of polypharmacy-taking multiple medications-in adolescent and young adult cancer survivors (AYAs), who experience early-onset chronic conditions.

METHODS: Our cross-sectional study pooled data (2008-2017) from the national Medical Expenditure Panel Survey. We estimated prevalence of polypharmacy (≥ 5 unique prescription medications over an approximate 1-year period) in AYAs (age 18-39 years with a history of cancer) and age- and sex-matched controls, overall and by sociodemographics, clinical factors, and health indicators. The most important determinant of HPV vaccination uptake is healthcare provider recommendation, yet not all eligible patients receive HPV vaccination recommendations. We used data from the 2020 National Immunization Survey-Teen to determine individual, systemic, and state factors associated with provider recommendation of HPV vaccination. A total of 18,534 teens were included, with 81.4% receiving provider recommendations for HPV vaccination. HPV vaccination recommendation was higher among females compared to males (AOR: 1.57; 95% CI: 1.27-1.93), teens who received a well-child exam at 11 or 12 years compared to those who did not (AOR: 2.10; 95% CI: 1.61-2.74), and teens whose mothers …

PURPOSE: Radiation therapy (RT) may cause toxicities in adolescents and young adults (AYAs, age 15-39 years) with cancer. However, the range of RT-related toxicities in AYAs and the affect on health-related quality of life (HRQOL) has not been well studied. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the association between race/ethnicity, poverty, and mental health in youth with chronic conditions.

STUDY DESIGN: A cross-sectional comparative study was performed using the records of a tertiary care center from 2011 to 2015.

INCLUSION CRITERIA: children aged 4-17 years with ≥1 hospitalization or emergency department visit. Exclusion criteria were those with arrhythmias or treatment with clonidine/benzodiazepines. The primary outcome variable was diagnosis or medication for anxiety, depression, or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. Outcomes for children and adolescents with relapsed and refractory Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) are poor, with ∼50% of patients experiencing a subsequent relapse. The anti-CD30 antibody-drug conjugate brentuximab vedotin improved progression-free survival (PFS) when used as consolidation after autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT) in adults with high-risk relapsed/refractory HL. BACKGROUND: Etripamil is a fast-acting, intranasally administered calcium-channel blocker in development for on-demand therapy outside a health-care setting for paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia. We aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of etripamil 70 mg nasal spray using a symptom-prompted, repeat-dose regimen for acute conversion of atrioventricular-nodal-dependent paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia to sinus rhythm within 30 min.

The purpose of the current study was to assess the frequency of overactive bladder syndrome (OBS) symptoms and their relationship to gastrointestinal symptoms in youth with abdominal pain-associated disorders of gut-brain interaction (AP-DGBI). This is a retrospective study of 226 youth diagnosed with an AP-DGBI. As part of standard care, all patients completed a symptom questionnaire regarding gastrointestinal and non-gastrointestinal symptoms including increased urinary frequency, nighttime urination, and urinary urgency. Many community-based interventions that promote PA focus on implementing incremental changes to existing facilities and infrastructure.
