BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: This study presents automated atlas-based magnetization transfer (MT) measurements of the typically developing pediatric cervical spinal cord (SC). We report normative MT ratio (MTR) values from the whole cervical cord white matter (WM) and WM tracts, examining variations with age, sex, height, and weight.

METHODS: MT scans of 33 healthy females (mean age = 12.8) and 22 males (mean age = 13.09) were acquired from the cervical SC (C2-C7) using a 3.0 T MRI. This narrative review outlines the current practices related to ultrasound-guided (USG) injection treatments for adhesive capsulitis (AC), including injection sites, approaches, medications, and doses.

USG procedures are increasingly accessible for AC, offering diverse injection approaches and medication dosing. Given the methodological variations in existing studies, a summary of current practices is essential. We conducted a narrative review of recent literature retrieved from computerized databases.

Glenohumeral (GH) and coracohumeral ligament (CHL) injections may improve outcomes for AC, with some evidence suggesting potential benefits of targeting the CHL. Subacromial bursa injections alone appear to be less effective. Multi-site injection techniques show promising …

Axillary web syndrome (AWS), a complication primarily following breast cancer surgeries involving axillary lymph node dissection (ALND), presents as painful cords extending from the axilla, impairing shoulder mobility and potentially delaying cancer treatment. This review consolidates existing knowledge on AWS, covering its clinical presentation, risk factors, pathophysiology, and management strategies. AWS typically arises within weeks post-surgery but may develop later, manifesting as fibrous cords that hinder arm movement. Diagnosis relies primarily on clinical examination, and the reported incidence varies significantly across different populations and study designs. Introduction: Balance is essential for athletic performance. This study compared immersive computer-assisted balance training using the Bertec Balance Advantage CDP/IVR system with traditional soft mat training in young athletes.

Methods: Twenty-two young athletes were randomly assigned to a soft mat group (n = 10) or a Bertec group (n = 12). Both groups completed four training sessions over two weeks. Balance was assessed pre- and post-training using the Sensory Organization Test (SOT), Limits of Stability (LOS) test, and Dynamic Visual Acuity (DVA) test. Two-way mixed ANOVA and Bonferroni-corrected post-hoc analyses were performed.

Background and Objective: Automatic generation of medical reports reduces both the burden on radiologists and the possibility of errors due to the inexperience of radiologists. The model that utilizes attention mechanism and contrastive learning can generate medical reports by capturing both general and specific semantics. However, existing contrastive learning methods ignore the specificity of medical data, that is, a patient may suffer from multiple diseases at the same time. Since the discovery of X-rays in 1895, research has consistently been conducted on their capabilities and limitations in healthcare. One primary focus of interest is patient shielding, especially regarding radiation protection and patient safety. Introduced in the mid-1900s, patient shielding has been practiced to protect the gonads, the thyroid, and other radiosensitive body parts. This research project investigated common shielding protocols implemented in healthcare facilities, specifically within Southeast Georgia. This study utilized anonymized in-person interviews with local imaging departments regarding their procedures and protocols for patient shielding. The role of precise timing in episodic memory remains obscure. We showed 139 participants episodes consisting of objects, and tested subsequent memory for the precise timing and order of the objects and episodes. Temporal compression of the episode enhanced memory for relative but not absolute timing of the objects’ presentation and their order. Conversely, temporal expansion between neighboring episodes was associated with successful memory for episode order. fMRI in 36 participants revealed that temporal compression of the episode was associated with more similar activation patterns within episodes in several brain regions including the posterior hippocampus. Background Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is a frequent and serious complication of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). This study aimed to assess the relationship between micro- RNA (miRNA)-192 and miRNA-29c expression and DKD in patients with T2DM. Patients and methods A case-control study was conducted with 160 participants: 40 T2DM patients with DKD, 40 T2DM patients without DKD, and 80 healthy controls. Plasma levels of miRNA-192 and miRNA-29c were quantified using quantitative reverse transcription PCR. Diagnostic accuracy was assessed via ROC curve analysis.
