IMPORTANCE Geographic access to prostate cancer care may influence outcomes but is often measured using straight-line distance, which may not accurately capture the travel burden experienced by patients. OBJECTIVE To evaluate the association between estimated travel time from patients’ residence to treatment facilities and all-cause and prostate cancer–specific mortality. Ten variables are being monitored, including weight, caffeine intake, sleep duration, napping, exercise frequency, homework hours, Instagram screen time, vitamin use, practicing miles, and mood evaluations on a 5-point scale. Hypertension remains a critical and often silent public health issue that disproportionately affects Latino men in California. This quantitative, retrospective cross-sectional study explored the social and contextual factors influencing hypertension among this vulnerable population. Using the 2019 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System dataset, which included a sample size of 2,060 participants, the study examined the relationship between hypertension and key variables including primary care utilization, health insurance, smoking, physical activity, mental health, and marital status, while controlling for age, education, and income. BACKGROUND: Initiation of antiretroviral therapy (ART) within twenty-four hours of an HIV diagnosis is safe, shortens time to viral suppression, improves retention in care, and contributes to reduced HIV transmission at the community level (Bacon et al., 2021). Despite this evidence, patients across the United States do not universally receive timely HIV care (Bertolino et al., 2023). Objective: This study evaluates an understudied perspective: the experiences of prospective parents who decline prenatal genome sequencing (pGS) for continuing pregnancies with fetal structural anomalies.

Method: We recruited a total cohort of 300 parents of 150 pregnancies who declined pGS, including 33 individuals who underwent an invasive procedure. These parents were invited to participate in a semi-structured interview between 1 and 15 months post-partum. We used Thematic Analysis to code and analyze interviews.

Aberrant cyclin-dependent kinase 2 (CDK2) activity is implicated as a resistance mechanism to CDK4/6 inhibitors (CDK4/6i) in hormone receptor-positive (HR+)/human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-negative (HER2-) breast cancer. Using preclinical patient-derived xenograft models, the CDK2i + CDK4/6i combination was active broadly across CDK4/6i-resistant and -naïve HR+ and triple-negative breast cancer models. A novel, weighted mRNA expression signature involving CCND1, CCNE1, RB1, and CDKN2A (p16) predicted response to combined inhibition of CDK2 and CDK4/6. Addition of endocrine therapy significantly enhanced antitumor activity in HR+ models, providing preclinical proof-of-concept for the broad antitumor activity of the triple combination. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) have recently increased emphasis on addressing Medicaid member social needs. CMS believes addressing health-related social needs (HRSN) may reduce costs and improve health outcomes for Medicaid members. Individuals with Alzheimer's disease (AD) have an increased incidence of seizures, which worsen cognitive decline. Using a transgenic mouse model of AD neuropathology that exhibits spontaneous seizures, we previously found that seizure activity stimulates and accelerates depletion of the hippocampal neural stem cell (NSC) pool, which was associated with deficits in neurogenesis-dependent spatial discrimination. However, the precise molecular mechanisms that drive seizure-induced activation and depletion of NSCs are unclear. Introduction: Anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) are common in children and adolescents and can lead to significant impairment. Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) with exposure is the first-line treatment, yet approximately half of treated youth do not achieve full remission. Dysfunctional cognitions-negative automatic thoughts, maladaptive beliefs and distorted interpretations-are considered key targets of CBT, but evidence in youth is mixed and underpowered. This study will examine whether change in dysfunctional cognitions mediates treatment outcome in anxiety, OCD and PTSD symptoms and whether this association varies across individual characteristics.

Protein phosphorylation plays a crucial role in regulating the cytoskeletal and membrane proteins at the axon initial segment (AIS). However, our knowledge of AIS-specific kinases and phosphatases is very limited. Here, we report the identification of a protein phosphatase 2A (PP2A) B55 regulatory subunit enriched at the AIS in mice: Ppp2r2c. Our results demonstrate that PP2A-B55 subunits exhibit substantial heterogeneity in their subcellular localization and function. Notably, the Ppp2r2c subunit is selectively concentrated at the AIS, and this enrichment is driven by its unique structure. Calmodulin (CaM) serves an essential role in eukaryotic cells as a Ca2+ sensor. Ca2+ binding leads to conformation changes in CaM that enable engagement of a repertoire of enzymes and the regulation of their catalytic activities. Classically, Ca2+-CaM binds to an inhibitory pseudosubstrate sequence C-terminal to the kinase domain in members of the Ca2+-CaM-dependent protein kinase (CAMK) family and relieves inhibition to promote catalytic activity. Here, we report an unexpected mechanism by which CaM can bind CHK2 kinase to inhibit its kinase activity. Recent advances are transforming our understanding of brain fluid dynamics, highlighting cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) flow as a key process in brain waste clearance. While debates persist regarding its anatomical pathways and regulatory mechanisms, certain core principles have become widely accepted. CSF influx occurs primarily along periarterial spaces, solute clearance follows multiple routes, and glymphatic and meningeal lymphatic systems are functionally connected. Brain clearance is influenced by vascular pulsation, neural activity, and sleep. Immune cells at brain-border niches both monitor solute efflux and modulate flow, linking brain clearance to neuroimmune interactions. Background: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of a commercially available energy drink (Ghost®) compared to a caffeine-matched control on measures of mental and physical performance.

Methods: In a randomized, double-blind design, 62 participants were assigned to receive either the energy drink (Ghost®) or a caffeine-matched control (200 mg caffeine). Assessments were conducted at baseline and approximately 45 minutes post-ingestion, including the Psychomotor Vigilance Test (PVT), CNS Tap Test, handgrip strength, and the Profile of Mood States (POMS).

The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) project aimed to address this gap by developing an evidence-based Trauma-Informed Care training module to help faculty acquire the skills needed for psychologically safe and inclusive learning environments.
