Covid-19 Infection Wave Mortality From Surveillance Data In The Philippines Using Machine Learning, Julius Migriño Jr, Ani Regina U. Batangan, Rizal Michael R. Abello

The Philippines had several COVID-19 infection waves brought about by different strains and variants of SARS-CoV-2. This study aimed to describe COVID-19 outcomes by infection waves using machine learning. A cross-sectional surveillance data review design was employed using the DOH COVID Data Drop dataset as of September 24, 2022. The predominant variant(s) of concern divided the dataset into time intervals representing the infection waves: ancestral (A0), Alpha/Beta (AB), Delta (D), and Omicron (O). Descriptive statistics and machine learning models were generated from each infection. The final data set consisted of 3,896,206 cases wherein 98.39% of cases recovered while 1.61% died. …

The objective of this study was to assess the efficacy of motivational interviewing (MI) group counseling in enhancing intrinsic motivation and academic engagement among students at State Senior High School 2 Sragen, Indonesia. The increasing prevalence of falsified and counterfeit medicines globally poses risks to international travellers. This narrative literature review examines the global challenge of falsified and counterfeit medicines, with a specific focus on risks for travellers. The aim is to provide a comprehensive understanding of this multidimensional issue, exploring potential solutions for effective intervention.

Methods

A comprehensive search of databases, including PubMed, MEDLINE, and Scopus, as well as relevant reports from international organisations, was undertaken. Objectives

The study aimed to determine if an ultrasonic Doppler-guided technique (UDGT) leads to improved placement efficacy (time, success) of feline dorsal pedal arterial catheters vs the traditional palpation-guided technique (TPT).

Methods

A total of 26 adult, client-owned cats requiring sedation or general anesthesia for any reason, aged >12 months and weighing >3.0 kg, and with Doppler blood pressure measurements of at least 80 mmHg were enrolled. Each hindlimb was randomly assigned for dorsal pedal arterial catheterization using either the UDGT or TPT. BACKGROUND: Tracheal intubation (TI)-associated cardiac arrest (TI-CA) occurs in 1.7% of pediatric ICU TIs. Our objective was to evaluate resuscitation characteristics and outcomes between cardiac arrest patients with and without TI-CA.

METHODS: Secondary analysis of cardiac arrest patients in both ICU-RESUS trial and ancillary CPR-NOVA study. The primary exposure was TI-CA, defined as cardiac arrest occurred during TI procedure or within 20 min after endotracheal tube placement. The primary outcome was survival to hospital discharge with favorable neurological outcome (Pediatric Cerebral Performance Category score 1-3 or unchanged).

Background: Post-term pregnancy, defined as reaching or exceeding 42 + 0 weeks of gestation, is known to be associated with unfavourable birth outcomes. High-income countries have responded to this risk by widely adopting labour induction protocols in late-term, but many low- and middle-income countries have not. However, understanding underlying mechanisms linking post-term births to adverse newborn and infant outcomes remains limited.

Purpose: This quality improvement project evaluated the feasibility of implementing therapeutic music in the emergency department (ED) to decrease anxiety levels by 10% over three months at a hospital in West Houston.

Background: Anxiety in the ED can exacerbate patient conditions and lead to increased use of anxiolytic drugs. Prior studies suggest that therapeutic music is effective in lowering anxiety across clinical settings. Anxiety in emergency department settings can negatively impact patient outcomes and increase reliance on pharmacological treatments. Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the adjunctive clinical effect of hyaluronic acid (HA) in the non-surgical treatment of subjects with residual pockets (≥ 6 mm) at the maintenance phase. Methods: 36 systemically healthy subjects in the periodontal maintenance phase were included in this 3-month randomized clinical trial. Periodontitis is a disease marked by inflammation of the periodontium, caused by biofilms present in the oral cavity, and results in alveolar bone destruction. One of the main hallmarks of periodontitis is the presence of Aggregatibacter actinomycetecomitans, which is generally suppressed by antibiotic administration. Uneven access to greenspaces or visible greenness is an environmental justice (EJ) issue. In this paper, we use a social equity lens to develop geospatial models that measure convenient walking access to urban greenspaces such as parks and street-level green exposure en route to greenspaces. We utilized earth science, geospatial, and demographic datasets to develop two models—Greenspace Accessibility and Visible Greenness Exposure—and applied them in Camden and Jersey City, USA, two communities experiencing environmental injustices. Identifying mental health issues is essential, necessitating an instrument to assess adolescent mental health. This study aims to adapt the Arabic Scale of Mental Health (ASMH) into Indonesian and evaluate its validity using the Rasch model. This study aims to develop a metaverse-based Virtual Reality Counseling (VRC) medium to support psychological services for students with special needs. The research method used is the research and development method with the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The results show that the metaverse-based VRC medium has met the media acceptability aspects, making it feasible for effective implementation. Additionally, experimental results indicate a decrease in the levels of mental health disorders experienced by the counselees after undergoing individual counseling assisted by the metaverse-based VRC medium. In in situ capturing-based spatial transcriptomics, spots of the same size and printed at fixed locations cannot precisely capture the randomly-located single cells, therefore inherently failing to profile transcriptome at the single-cell level. To this end, we present STIE, an Expectation Maximization algorithm that aligns the spatial transcriptome to its matched histology image-based nuclear morphology and recovers missing cells from ~70% gap area, thereby achieving the real single-cell level and whole-slide scale deconvolution, convolution, and clustering for both low- and high-resolution spots.
