Observing Ceramide Pathway With Ferroptosis Via Mia Paca-2 Cell Treatment With Rsl3, Tazrin Rahman
Observing Ceramide Pathway With Ferroptosis Via Mia Paca-2 Cell Treatment With Rsl3, Tazrin Rahman
AUCTUS: The Journal of Undergraduate Research and Creative Scholarship
Composed of sphingosine and a fatty acid, ceramides are lipid molecules that serve as key metabolic signaling molecules of a sphingolipid pathway. While it acts as a precursor of complex sphingolipids, inducing ceramide generation can cause cell stress leading to subsequent cell death via apoptosis, necrosis, and even mitophagy. With regards to cell death specifically, a novel form of regulated cell death, ferroptosis, has recently been recognized of necrotic nature. Its unique morphological features and distinct properties have been observed over the last several decades; however, the molecular features were not identifiable as pure evidence of cell death, until recently …
A Systems-Based Patient Aid Design Artifact For Active Medication Management In Type 2 Diabetes, Ibrahim A. Hamzah
A Systems-Based Patient Aid Design Artifact For Active Medication Management In Type 2 Diabetes, Ibrahim A. Hamzah
CGU Theses & Dissertations
In this dissertation, I explore the use of the Abstraction-Decomposition Space (ADS) alongside Hierarchical Task Analysis (HTA) to guide the design of a minimalist patient aid for active medication management in type 2 diabetes. The goal is to address a practical problem, but in addition, this study seeks to address a theoretical problem that is prevalent in design research in Information Systems (IS) today. The practical problem concerns the need for IT-based care delivery models to support patients in the interim period between in-person visits. In this vein, I present a bare-minimum design that focuses on the most essential functionality …
Empathy Unfolding: A Complexity Neuroeducation Framework For Tracing The Impact Of Immersive Storytelling And Transformational Learning On Nursing Education, Maria H. Keckler
Empathy Unfolding: A Complexity Neuroeducation Framework For Tracing The Impact Of Immersive Storytelling And Transformational Learning On Nursing Education, Maria H. Keckler
CGU Theses & Dissertations
Background: Empathy Unfolding is a conceptual framework grounded in complexity theory and neuroeducation principles that emerged during the research process and was used to trace the impact of immersive storytelling and transformational learning on nursing education through multiple lenses and measures. The study addressed the complex and multidimensional problem of declining empathetic concern among nursing students and professionals that disproportionately impacts low-income and culturally/linguistically diverse patient communities. Methods: The mixed-methods design centered around a patient story based on actual events, produced in two-dimensional (2D) video and 180° virtual reality (VR) formats. Second-year nursing students (N=70) were randomly assigned to two …

Burning Bright Or Burning Out: A Qualitative Investigation Of Leader Vitality And Accompanying Practitioner Article, Jamie Shapiro
CGU Theses & Dissertations
Leaders of organizations have incessant demands placed on them, including cultivating teams, building culture, and increasing the bottom line, in addition to caring for followers’ wellbeing and thriving. Numerous resources are required to meet these continuous demands, and vitality is one of the most valuable. Through interviewing 20 of the most influential and pressured leaders of Fortune 1000 companies, this qualitative study answers three important questions: what drains vitality, what fosters it, and how do leaders most effectively utilize vitality for followers? The results shed light on psychological mechanisms that drain leaders’ vitality, including emotional labor, self-control, loss of job …
