The factors associated with the level of knowledge of the preventive measures of COVID-19 in pregnant and postpartum women from two Peruvian communities were determined. Quantitative, prospective, cross-sectional and analytical study. They worked with the entire population. The level of knowledge was measured through a previously validated instrument. Bivariate and multivariate analysis was performed, using linear regression with a 95% confidence interval. The results indicate that the 3 majority (64.7%) considered the use of rubber gloves as a preventive measure, while 33.8% considered the use of homemade masks incorrect and considered that domestic animals transmitted COVID-19. METHODS: Observers prospectively collected data from labor units over 72 h (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday). Independent variables were workload (WL) and workforce (WF). Methods: A retrospective medical record review of 90 patients who were diagnosed with cancer when pregnant or who became pregnant thereafter between 1996 and 2015 in Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi.

Background

Mounting evidence suggests that maternal diet influences pregnancy and birth outcomes, but its contribution to the global epidemic of childhood obesity has not as yet been definitively characterized. We investigated whether maternal whole diet quality and inflammatory potential influence childhood adiposity.

Methods

We harmonized and pooled individual participant data from 16,295 mother-child pairs in seven European birth cohorts. The impact of maternal diet during pregnancy on child neurodevelopment is of public health and clinical relevance. Successful deliveries from patients supported by axial flow left ventricular devices have been previously reported. We present the first case of a successful pregnancy and birth in a patient with a centrifugal-flow left ventricular assist device. A 24-year-old female with methamphetamine-induced cardiomyopathy and end-stage congestive heart failure supported by a HeartWare™ ventricular assist device (Medtronic) presented two years after device implantation with an unplanned pregnancy at 11-weeks of gestation. Background: To report a case of Optic Disc Pit (ODP) maculopathy exacerbated during pregnancy. Case presentation: A 30-year-old female developed unilateral blurry vision at 10-weeks gestation. Ophthalmic examination revealed left eye reduced visual acuity (VA) with the presence of subretinal fluid temporal to the disc extending to the fovea. On Spectral Domain Optical Coherence Tomography (SD-OCT) subretinal, and intraretinal fluid was confirmed. Objective: : To examine the effect of paternal age on intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) outcomes in unexplained infertility Subjects and Methods: : This retrospective study, done at the Hamad Medical Corporation, Doha, Qatar screened infertile couples who underwent ICSI between 2014 and 2019 for the inclusion and exclusion criteria defining ‘unexplained infertility’. Couples recruited were allocated into two groups: Group A (paternal age <35 years) and Group B (paternal age ≥35 years). Baseline characteristics, investigations including semen and advanced sperm function tests and ICSI records were compared for primary outcomes such as fertilisation, cleavage, clinical pregnancy, miscarriage and live birth; and secondary outcomes such as semen parameters and advanced sperm functions (DNA fragmentation index and oxidation reduction potential). Results: : We found that final pregnancy outcomes including clinical pregnancy rate (P = 0.231), live-birth rate (P = 0.143), and miscarriage rates (P = 0.466) were not significantly different between the two age groups. Normal fertilisation (P = 0.01) and cleavage rate after ICSI (P = 0.001) were statistically significant when the age groups were compared. Also, normal sperm morphology was found to be significantly different (P = 0.041). Conclusions: : Advanced paternal age affects sperm morphology, fertilisation and embryo cleavage in ICSI but does not appear to affect clinical pregnancy, miscarriage or live-birth rates. ICSI appears to be a valid fertility treatment option in advancing paternal age.

Materials and methods: Patients with asthma who received omalizumab for at least 6 months and at least one dose during their pregnancy were retrospectively evaluated using a questionnaire regarding their disease and therapy and the health of their infants. Results: Twenty pregnant patients and their 23 infant's data were analyzed. The mean delivery age was 31.8 ± 7.4 years. They received omalizumab for 28.9 ± 21.8 months.
