An ANE OR/TA Project qualitative study conducted in 1995 probed into women’s perceptions of abortion in Egypt, and the stress that postabortion patients experience during recovery. That study drew attention to the important role husbands can play in their wives’ recovery and subsequent use of contraception. This study was designed to test the effects of involving husbands in the postabortion medical-care process. Overall, the study indicates that providing counseling to husbands of postabortion patients is feasible, as the majority of husbands either accompanied their wife on admission or at discharge from the hospital. To better characterize the translational regulation of lipoprotein lipase (LPL) by epinephrine, cytoplasmic extracts were prepared from 3T3-L1 adipocytes, 3T3-F442A adipocytes, and other nonadipocyte cell lines (C2 cells, 3T3 fibroblasts, and Chinese hamster ovary cells). After treatment with epinephrine, cell extracts from the adipocytes inhibited LPL translation in an in vitro translation assay, whereas extracts from the C2 cells and 3T3 fibroblasts did not affect LPL translation. To identify the region on the LPL mRNA that controlled translation, in vitro translation was carried out using constructs containing different LPL sequences. Researchers have found that children learn from viewing professional television programs specifically designed for children, such as Sesame Street. Professional television programming principles can be adopted to produce amateur educational videos. Video may also be a viable option to provide repetitive models to improve vocabulary acquisition within speech-language pathology. Insecticide-treated mosquito nets have an impact on mortality and morbidity in young children under controlled conditions. When integrated into larger control programs, there is the danger that rates of regular retreatment of the nets with insecticide will drop, greatly limiting their effectiveness as a public health intervention. In Bagamoyo District, Tanzania, rates of retreatment dropped significantly when payment for the insecticide was introduced. A series of neighbourhood (hamlet) meetings were held in all study villages to discuss people's concerns about the insecticide and ways to increase rates of retreatment. The present study examined how different communication patterns affected task performance with an adaptive interface. A Wizard-of-Oz simulation (Gould, Conti, & Hovanyecz, 1983) was used to create the impression of a talking and listening computer that acted as a teammate to help participants interact with a computer application.

Four levels of communication mode were used which differed in the level of restriction placed on human-computer communication. In addition, participants completed two sets of tasks (simple and complex). This study attempted to determine if there was a relationship between speech-language pathologists (SLP) opinion of the reliability of the Modified Evan's Blue Dye Test (MEBDT) for assessing aspiration in tracheostomized patients and three factors: (1) number of years working in the field of speech-language pathology, (2) amount of hours per week spent treating dysphagia patients , and (3) number of seminars/conferences attended related to dysphagia management in the last two years. For some years now, I have been experimenting with the use of short stories. Despite rich resources for stories, there remains a void best filled by fiction. When discussing fiction, we can probe, criticize, and express ourselves freely without the constraints we feel when discussing real people. Good fiction lays bare the innermost thoughts and experiences of its characters, perhaps even their dreams and nightmares, in a way that would be intrusive, uncomfortable, or impossible, even in autobiography. In this paper, I examine three difficult issues raised by the Human Genome Project, and lay out an approach that takes seriously the interests of the child, present or future, while preserving the traditional commitment of professional geneticists to patient autonomy. The approach I take is based on Joel Feinberg's concept of "the child's right to an open future." การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์ เพื่อศึกษาการปฏิบัติบทบาทอาจารย์ที่ปรึกษาของอาจารย์ พยาบาล และหาความสัมพันธ์ระหว่าง ปัจจัยด้านบุคคล ปัจจัยด้านสถานการณ์ และการรับรู้บทบาท กับการปฏิบัติบทบาทอาจารย์ที่ปรึกษาของอาจารย์พยาบาล รวมทั้งศึกษากลุ่มตัวแปรที่สามารถร่วม กันพยากรณ์การปฏิบัติบทบาทอาจารย์ที่ปรึกษาของอาจารย์พยาบาล ตัวอย่างประชากร คือ อาจารย์ พยาบาลจำนวน 339 คน ซึ่งได้จากการสุ่มตัวอย่างแบบหลายขั้นตอน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัยเป็น แบบสอบถาม ปัจจัยด้านบุคคล ปัจจัยด้านสถานการณ์ การรับรู้บทบาท และการปฏิบัติบทบาท อาจารย์ที่ปรึกษาของอาจารย์พยาบาลที่ผู้วิจัยสร้างขึ้น และผ่านการตรวจสอบคุณภาพแล้ว \nผลการวิจัยสรุปได้ดังนี้ \n1. ค่าเฉลี่ยการปฏิบัติบทบาทอาจารย์ที่ปรึกษาของอาจารย์พยาบาลรวมทุกด้านอยู่ในระดับสูง และเมื่อจำแนกเป็นบทบาทในการพัฒนานักศึกษา 9 ด้าน คือ ด้านสัมพันธภาพกับนักศึกษา ด้านการ พัฒนาบูรณาการ ด้านการพัฒนาความมีเอกลักษณ์ ด้านการพัฒนาความเป็นตัวของตัวเอง และด้าน การพัฒนาสมรรถนะทางด้านความรู้และสติปัญญาอยู่ในระดับสูง ส่วนด้านการพัฒนาเป้าหมายชีวิต ของนักศึกษา ด้านการพัฒนาอารมณ์ ด้านการพัฒนาสมรรถนะทางด้านสังคม และด้านการพัฒนา สมรรถนะทางด้านร่างกาย อยู่ในระดับปานกลาง \n2. การรับรู้บทบาท การเตรียมอาจารย์ที่ปรึกษา นโยบายและการบริหาร สภาพการทำงาน ความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างผู้ร่วมงาน ผลตอบแทน และการรับภาระงาน มีความสัมพันธ์ทางบวกกับการ ปฏิบัติบทบาทอาจารย์ที่ปรึกษาของอาจารย์พยาบาล อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05 \n3. ตัวแปรที่ร่วมกันพยากรณ์การปฏิบัติบทบาทอาจารย์ที่ปรึกษาของอาจารย์พยาบาล อย่างมีนัยสําคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05 ตามลำดับ คือ การรับรู้บทบาท การเตรียมอาจารย์ที่ปรึกษา และสภาพการทำงาน ซึ่งร่วมกันพยากรณ์การปฏิบัติบทบาทอาจารย์ที่ปรึกษาของอาจารย์พยาบาลได้ \nร้อยละ 19.87

การวิจัยนี้เป็นการศึกษาวิเคราะห์เปรียบเทียบสัมพันธภาพเชิงช่วยเหลือนักศึกษาพยาบาล ขณะฝึกปฏิบัติงานในคลินิกของอาจารย์พยาบาล วิทยาลัยพยาบาลภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือ สังกัดกระทรวงสาธารณสุข กลุ่มตัวอย่าง คือ อาจารย์พยาบาล จำนวน 46 คน ที่นิเทศนักศึกษาในคลินิก จากวิทยาลัยพยาบาล 4 แห่ง ได้มาจากการสุ่มอย่างง่าย เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัยประกอบด้วย แบบสอบถาม แบบบันทึกการสังเกต และคู่มือการวิเคราะห์สัมพันธภาพเชิงช่วยเหลือ \nผลการวิจัยสรุปได้ว่า สัมพันธภาพเชิงช่วยเหลือนักศึกษาพยาบาลขณะฝึกปฏิบัติงานในคลินิกของอาจารย์พยาบาล โดยรวมและรายด้านมีความเหมาะสมในระดับปานกลาง ยกเว้น ด้านการเป็นแบบอย่าง มีความเหมาะสมอยู่ในระดับน้อย สัมพันธภาพเชิงช่วยเหลือนักศึกษาพยาบาล ขณะฝึกปฏิบัติงานในคลินิกของอาจารย์พยาบาล จำแนกตามอายุ วุฒิทางการศึกษา และประสบการณ์ ในการปฏิบัติงานไม่แตกต่างกันอย่างมีนัยสําคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05 แต่ถ้าจำแนกตามภาควิชาการ พยาบาลและตามการอบรมครูคลินิก แตกต่างกันอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05

การวิจัยแบบกึ่งทดลองครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาและเปรียบเทียบความตั้งใจกระทําพฤติกรรมจริยธรรมในการปฏิบัติการพยาบาลสูติศาสตร์ของนักศึกษาพยาบาลก่อน และการสอนโดย ใช้กรณีศึกษาและระหว่างนักศึกษากลุ่มที่ได้รับการสอนโดยใช้กรณีศึกษากับกลุ่มที่ได้รับการสอนโดยวิธีการสอนแบบปกติ \nกลุ่มตัวอย่างเป็นนักศึกษาพยาบาลตํารวจปีที่ 3 แบ่งกลุ่มตามประสบการณ์การขึ้นฝึก ปฏิบัติงานบนหอผู้ป่วยและเกรดเฉลี่ยสะสม (G.P.A.) สุ่มเป็นกลุ่มทดลอง 30 คน กลุ่มควบคุม 30 คน กลุ่มทดลองได้รับการสอนโดยใช้กรณีศึกษาสัปดาห์ละ 2 ชั่วโมง รวม 8 ชั่วโมง ส่วนกลุ่มควบคุมได้ รับการสอนโดยวิธีการสอนแบบปกติ เครื่องมือวิจัยคือแบบวัดความตั้งใจกระทำพฤติกรรมจริยธรรม \nที่ผู้วิจัยสร้างขึ้น และตรวจสอบความตรงตามเนื้อหาค่าความเที่ยงของแบบวัด เท่ากับ 72 วิเคราะห์ ข้อมูลโดยใช้สถิติทดสอบค่าที \nผลการวิจัยที่สำคัญมีดังนี้ \n1. ความตั้งใจกระทําพฤติกรรมจริยธรรมในการปฏิบัติการพยายามสูติศาสตร์ของนักศึกษา \nพยาบาลภายหลังการสอนโดยใช้กรณีศึกษา สูงกว่าก่อนได้รับการสอนอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ \nระดับ .05 \n2. ความตั้งใจกระทำพฤติกรรมจริยธรรมในการปฏิบัติการพยาบาลสูติศาสตร์ของนักศึกษา พยาบาล ในกลุ่มทดลองสูงกว่ากลุ่มควบคุม อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05

The chapter of the book excerpted below examines litigation developments from the late 1960s to the early 1980s. In law no less than in psychiatry, professional judgments produced anomalous results and professional processes worked in unexpected ways when it came to medications. These departures advanced a public mental health vision that was functionally the same as psychiatrists', even if couched in utterly different and more legalistic terms. Psychiatrists hailed medications as a medical revolution; lawyers by and large ignored the drugs. Core values of the Jewish heritage are life and family, not death. An interpretation of Halachah which permits a broad definition of passive euthanasia without lapsing into acceptance of active euthanasia or its more evil cousin, assisted suicide, is consistent with these values. Also consistent with these values and the Jewish tradition is a modern definition of death which recognizes advances in medical technology that were beyond the knowledge or imagination of those who created the vast body of Rabbinic law. Ligation of B cell receptor (BCR) on BKS-2, an immature B cell lymphoma by anti-IgM antibodies (Ab) caused apoptosis. Here we report that signaling through B cell receptor in wild type BKS-2 cells down-regulated the expression of Egr-1, a zinc finger-containing transcription factor. A reduction in the level of Egr-1 mRNA could be demonstrated as early as 30 min after the ligation of BCR on BKS-2 cells. Immunocytochemical and Western blot analysis revealed that the expression of EGR-1 protein was also inhibited by anti-IgM treatment. Antisense oligonucleotides to Egr-1 caused growth inhibition and apoptosis in BKS-2 cells, suggesting that expression …

The objective was to describe how an all-volunteer organization could transform into a business when reimbursement was introduced into the exchange equation, why it happened, and the effects the change had on the people involved.
