Obesity is a major health problem. There is considerable information regarding the association between excessive body fatness and many health risks. The purpose of this study is to compare the cardiorespiratory responses of female obese subjects and normal-weight women during cycle ergometry. The obese group included 23 female subjects with mean age of 39.6±3.2 years (range: 19-57 yrs.). The mean body weight of obese subjects was 71.4±7.0 kg. and the body mass index (BMI) was 29.0±2.0 kg/㎡. The control group included 23 normal-weight women with matched age and body height. In a prospective study we applied electroacupuncture, according to the concepts of Traditional Chinese Medicine and previous studies of electrostimulation, to patients suffering from post-stroke paresthesia.Electroacupuncture over the head and limbs was applied to 20 patients with post-stroke paresthesia. All patients received brain CT scan examination of which most revealed subcortical lesions (19 subcorlicai lesions and 1middle cerebral arterial territory infarction). The duration of treatment was thirty minutes and each patient received electroacupuncture treatment once per week for 3 months. ”Clinically,there is still no ideal measurement to grade the spasticity caused by varying causes-The method mostly used such as Ashworth scale is for subjective and gross evaluation. The purpose of this study is to develop a more objective and quantitative test for muscle spasticity in stroke patients.The study recruits 20 cases of stroke patients with spastic hemiplegia whose Brunnstrom stage is graded at 2 to 4, the Ashworth grading is also at 2 to 4. It is not rare for the individuals with bronchiectasis, defining pathologically as a permanently abnormal dilation of subsegmental airways, to develop respiratory insufficiency as respiratory tract infection occurs. In acute stage, intermittent positive pressure ventilation (IPPV) via endotracheal tube is often mandatory to maintain their respiration, but most of them could breathe spontaneously later on. This is a case of 69-year-old male patient who suffered from cerebral infarction with right-sided hemiplegia, transient motor aphasia, suspected thalamic syndrome, impaired activity of daily living and partial dependence. There were no past history of D.M. psychosis or other significant diseases except mild hypertension under thiazide control, also no family history of suicide or other hereditary diseases.Post-stroke depression had developed progressively since March 1993 including insomnia, fatigue indifference, anorexia, moodiness. Major depression was impressed based upon the diagnostic criteria of DSM-III. Other causes of depression including iatrogenesis and metabolic diseases had been ruled out. Motor evoked potential (MEP) study by transcranial electric or magnetic stimulation or the motor cortex has been practically used for clinical evaluation of electrophysiological function of the central motor pathway. By using a percutaneous magnetic stimulation over the motor cortex and F-wave measurement from the median nerve stimulation, central motor conduction time (CMCT) from motor cortex to C8 spinal cord was measured in 25 patients with cervical spondylotic myelopathy (CSM) and in 16 healthy subjects. Latencies from motor cortex to C8 spinal cord was 10.4±2.1 (mean ±ISD) ms which was significantly longer than 5.3±0.8 ms in controls under the correction …

Cervical myelopathy had been noted in patients with involuntary neck movement, especially in individuals with athetoid-dystonic cerebral palsy(CP). The excessive and repeated neck motions were considered to be responsible for the premature spondylosis, which might be the cause of myelopathy. The exact pathophysiology and managements were still controversial. Here we present a rare case who was a male patient with long-lasting dystonic neck movement developing cervical myelopathy due to protrusion of disc in his relatively young age. To monitor the improvement of muscle performance following Russian stimulation training by muscle strength test and compound muscle action potential (CMAP) recording. 2. To investigate the place of quantitative CMAP recording technique in evaluation of muscle power. the APB and ADQ muscles from 20 healthy volunteer were included. Muscle strength was recorded by strain gauge, and CMAP of both muscles were recorded by Viking EMG following supramaximal electrical stimulation at wrist.
