When cancer cells are treated with chemotherapy, they can release Damage-Associated Molecular Patterns (DAMPs) as they die that can alert and engage the immune system, a process known as an immunogenic cell death (ICD). The dying cancer cell can release certain molecules, including ATP or calreticulin, that immune cells first recognize as abnormal before initiating an anti-tumor response. A controversial approach in child speech-sound disorders is nonspeech oral motor exercises (NSOME). NSOME targets the functioning of the articulators in activities that do not involve speaking (such as blowing through whistles, drinking from straws, and pushing the tongue against resistance). The underlying belief of NSOME is that increasing musculature performance and neurological organization through these types of isolated actions will directly improve children’s phoneme productions. The purpose of this study is to determine the dosimetric impact on rectal dose by comparing two arc versus three arc VMAT plans on prostate patients who have received SpaceOAR.

Methods

A retrospective planning technique was performed on eight prostate cancer patients who had been previously treated with three-arc VMAT plans. For each plan, a two-arc plan was generated by removing the third arc and re-optimizing the plans using identical constraints and objectives. Aims: This quality improvement project evaluated implementation of the Car, Relax, Alone, Forget, Friends, Trouble (CRAFFT) 2.1 screening tool to improve identification of adolescents at risk for SUDs and support multidisciplinary communication.

To better understand these interactions between bacteria and host immune cells, I developed an assay to study the oral bacteria Streptococcus mutans and inflammatory macrophages. Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic, relapsing inflammatory skin disease associated with impaired quality of life, representing one of the highest burdens among dermatological conditions. This debilitating disorder primarily affects apocrine-gland-bearing and flexural skin areas, most commonly the axillae, breast, buttocks, and groin. As lesions recur and new sites emerge, surgical excision does not guarantee prevention of disease reestablishment. Despite its substantial burden, HS remains among the least understood and most treatment-resistant inflammatory diseases. Background: Xylazine-adulterated fentanyl is linked to distinctive necrotic wounds and complex care needs in unsheltered populations. This quality improvement (QI) project implemented a brief survey and referral log at Albuquerque Health Care for the Homeless (AHCH) to track suspected xylazine-associated wounds and referrals to advanced care. Methods: Final data were exported from Qualtrics, cleaned to retain finished responses, standardized categories, and de-identified. The analytic sample included 18 encounters. Results: Results showed that 55.6% (n = 10) documented suspected xylazine-associated wounds; 5.6% (n = 1) reported no suspicion; 38.9% (n = 7) were uncertain.
