Interpreting free-text medication orders in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems is challenging due to variability, increasing the risk of errors and non-compliance with Joint Commission (TJC) standards. This research develops Natural Language Processing (NLP) tools to enhance medication order accuracy, particularly for Duplicate PRN orders. Our open-source, vendor-neutral approach ensures broad applicability across healthcare institutions while maintaining data security.

Using Python and the Natural Language Toolkit (NLTK), we implemented a four-phase methodology. First, the NLP framework was developed on Google Colab for collaborative accessibility. This study evaluates the feasibility of using natural language processing (NLP) tools to identify errors in titratable infusion orders for Joint Commission readiness. Titratable infusions are adjusted at the bedside by nurses based on predefined parameters, such as monitoring goals, titration rate, conditions for adjustment, and maximum dose. These parameters are often documented as free text within order sets but can be inadvertently removed during the verification process. Some electronic health records (EHRs) may not prominently display this critical information, leading to potential Joint Commission violations. Over 1.5 billion individuals a year are infected with soil-transmitted helminths (STH) such as whipworm, hookworm, and Ascaris. These infections have detrimental effects on human growth, nutrition, and cognition leading to a cycle of poverty. Currently, The World Health Organization (WHO) recognizes four drugs to treat STH for mass drug administration which consist of two mechanisms of action. These fall into two classes, nicotinic acetylcholine receptor agonists and benzimidazoles. Aldehyde oxidase (AO) is an enzyme that metabolizes drugs containing aromatic azaheterocycles. Small thiol-containing molecules have been reported to inactivate AO. Clopidogrel is an antiplatelet agent used to treat cardiovascular diseases. Clopidogrel is a prodrug that is bioactivated in vivo by cytochrome P450 enzymes CYP3A4 and CYP2C19 into a thiol metabolite. Malignant Hyperthermia (MH) is a rare but potentially lethal pharmacogenetic disorder, affecting roughly 1 in 30,000 children and 1 in 100,000 adults undergoing surgery. MH can be triggered by agents used for general anesthesia. These may include volatile anesthetics such as sevoflurane, isoflurane, desflurane, halothane or depolarizing neuromuscular blockers such as succinylcholine. Upon administration of a trigger, an MH susceptible (MHS) patient can develop a hypermetabolic state during the intraoperative or postoperative periods. Background: This study looks at the metabolic effects of carbon plated shoes compared to non plated shoes in NCAA Division 1 male cross country/track athletes. Carbon-plated shoes, like the Nike Vaporfly 3 (NVF3), have become popular, but it’s important to understand how they impact oxygen use (VO2) and running efficiency.

Methods: Ten NCAA Division 1 male cross-country runners (n = 10) participated in two treadmill tests using indirect calorimetry to measure oxygen consumption. This study assessed the absorption of key micronutrients from the multi-ingredient supplement using a novel developed LC-MS/MS method capable of analyzing B vitamins in a single run.

The study a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover trial with 16 healthy participants (8 males, 8 females) to measure plasma nutrient appearance over 8 hours after supplement consumption. Serial blood samples were collected pre-consumption and at specified intervals post-ingestion. The novel LC-MS/MS method simultaneously quantified biotin, nicotinamide, pyridoxine, riboflavin, and thiamin in blood samples.

Results:The LC-MS/MS method had a range of 0.1 ng/mL to 1000 ng/mL and it proved to be robust and …

This study examines the impact of an educational intervention on student pharmacists’ knowledge, attitudes, and confidence regarding alcohol and substance use disorders (AUD/SUD) at Lipscomb University College of Pharmacy. Current literature denotes that student pharmacists often feel unprepared to address substance use disorder in practice. This study evaluates whether a targeted educational intervention can enhance student understanding of first-line pharmacological treatments, increase confidence in handling opioid-related emergencies, and improve their ability to educate patients on harm reduction strategies, including naloxone use and opioid overdose risks. Adequate macronutrient intake of carbohydrates, fats, and protein is essential for sustaining energy, enhancing muscle recovery, and preventing injuries in athletes. Many student-athletes do not have access to a registered dietitian, which often leads them to rely on unverified nutrition sources that recommend habits non-conducive to optimal performance and recovery. In NEC, bacterial factors are thought to elicit an excessive immune system response.This robust inflammatory response leads to excessive apoptosis of the epithelial cells comprising the barrier between the lumen of the gastrointestinal tract and the underlying tissue allowing for bacterial invasion of the underlying tissue, leading to ischemia, necrosis, and potentially sepsis and death. Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is an interstitial lung disease (ILD) characterized by excessive extracellular matrix (ECM) deposition. The prognosis of IPF is poor, with the only curative option for the disease being lung transplantation. Prior studies have described increased expression of the lncRNA Meg3 in the lungs of IPF patients. Increased expression of Meg3 is associated with impaired lung repair through inhibition of lung basal progenitor cell differentiation. These parasites include Ascaris lumbricoides, Trichuris americanus, and Ancylostoma duodenale which primarily infect inhabitants of tropical and subtropical areas, where access to clean resources such as water and sanitation is insufficient. Infected individuals experience malnutrition, impaired cognitive function, immune dysregulation, and many other health consequences that persist (Hotez, et al., 2004). Purpose: This study explored program outcomes of the Brooks Spinal Cord Injury & Related Disorders Day Treatment Program in Jacksonville, Florida. By examining secondary data, using both the Self-Reported Functional Measure (SRFM) and the Spinal Cord Independence Measure–III (SCIM-III), researchers determined the change between admission and discharge scores in both patient- and therapist-reported outcomes of self-care skills. This study also studied if a correlation existed between the SRFM (patient-reported) and SCIM-III (therapist-reported) outcomes.

Participants: Data from 49 participant records were collected in 2022-2023, with 42 participants data qualifying for this study.

Background: This study explored occupational engagement of children with neurodivergent and related conditions in home, school, and community settings. Children aged 6 to 16 years and their caregivers were recruited to investigate how occupational engagement differs across contexts.

Methods: A mixed-methods approach assessed quantitative data from 51 participants using a modified version of the Child and Adolescent Scale of Participation. Qualitative data were collected from 6 semi-structured interviews. Purpose

Individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) report having less sexual experience and engaging in fewer social-sexual behaviors when compared to those without ASD. The purpose of this study is to discover how the quality of sexual education has impacted individuals with high-functioning ASD (HFASD) engagement in sexual activity.

Methods

This qualitative phenomenological study used semi-structured interview questions based on the purpose of the study and identified research questions. Purposive sampling was used to recruit participants.

Results

Findings indicated that female adults with HFASD received inconsistent and incomplete sexual education impacting their sexual experiences, safety, and quality of life. All …
