Urinary tract infection is a cumulative term used to describe an infection of any part of the urinary system. Periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory condition of the tooth-supporting structures. The literature points towards an inter-relationship between periodontitis and other systemic diseases such as metabolic syndrome, diabetes mellitus, coronary heart diseases, etc. Several studies indicate a pathophysiologic inter-relationship between periodontitis and urinary tract infections. Considering the inflammatory nature of periodontitis and urinary tract infections, a common link of causality may be present between the two diseases. Purpose: One in five pregnant women in the United States experience a maternal mental health condition. Within Utah from 2018-2022, during pregnancy, 22.7% of women experienced depression and 31.6% experienced anxiety, and 15.1% experienced postpartum depression. These data represent a prevalence higher than the national average. Third trimester ultrasound (TTUS) is not a standard of care performed in the United States currently. Previous TTUS research has mainly focused on the financial burden and birth outcomes rather than maternal mental health. Literature on first trimester ultrasound has demonstrated a notable impact on maternal mental health, but these outcomes within the third …

N-acetylcysteine (NAC) has been widely used in the treatment of liver failure secondary to acetaminophen overdose. At Valley Hospital Medical Center (VHMC) and other Valley Health System hospitals, NAC has been used as an off-label treatment for non-acetaminophen-induced acute liver failure (NAI-ALF) and ischemic hepatitis. Studies have shown NAC is safe for use in NAI-ALF and may provide a survival benefit in native liver without transplantation. While some evidence suggests potential benefits of NAC for NAI-ALF, lack of robust, high-quality studies limits its widespread adoption and routine use. Research on quality of life (QoL) impacts of hepatitis D virus (HDV) is limited due to lack of epidemiological information and sometimes limited information about symptoms. Xeroderma pigmentosum (XP), a rare and enigmatic condition, has recently emerged as a focal point in the intersection of dermatology and nucleotide excision repair. Historically, physicians have been primarily concerned the dermatological aspects of classical XP. However, there remains an opaque awareness of the remaining manifestations as they relate to the clinical setting, as well as diagnosis and treatment. We aim to provide a comprehensive overview of the current knowledge regarding the interplay between XP and the symptoms that require further investigation.
