Early Versus Staged Repair Of Pulmonary Atresia With Ventricular Septal Defect Without Mapcas: A Phis Analysis, Mohamed Aashiq Abdul Ghayum, Brian R. Lee, James O'Brien, Edo Bedzra

Objective: The management of Pulmonary Atresia and Ventricular Septal Defect (PA/VSD) without Major Aortopulmonary Collaterals (MAPCAs) is variable. This study aims to describe the practice patterns, choice of interventions, and outcomes of patients treated using various surgical strategies. Methods: Data from the Public Health Information System (PHIS) database was analyzed for patients with a diagnosis of PA/VSD without MAPCAs who followed a two-ventricle strategy between 2003 and 2023. Patients were categorized based on the initial surgical approach into four groups: single-stage early repair, ductal stent, systemic to pulmonary artery shunt, and right ventricle to pulmonary artery (RV-PA) connection. Neurosteroids For The Treatment Of Major Depressive Disorder (Mdd) And Chronic Pain (Paper), Meghan Haan

Neurosteroids are endogenous steroids within the brain that act as modulators in neurotransmission. Among their targets are the gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptors, which are responsible for inhibitory signaling in the brain. The interaction between neurosteroids and GABA receptors is complex, influencing mood regulation and pain perception. Endogenous neurosteroids have been used in conditions such as postpartum depression (PPD), where fluctuation in neurosteroid levels contribute to the onset of depressive systems. Conversely, exogenous neurosteroids, such as brexanolone and zuranolone, have emerged as therapeutic agents for PPD. These compounds act as positive allosteric modulators (PAMs) on GABA receptors, enhancing inhibitory neurotransmission and …

Stroke is one of the leading causes of severe disability and death in the United States. During the initial stage of recovery, clients receive stroke education to learn about what their new reality looks like after discharge; however, many clients feel that the education provided, although appreciated, was not inclusive to all individuals and only occurred one time. This led to difficulties in knowledge retention and acquisition.
