Background/aim: Multitarget therapy for lupus nephritis (LN) remains in its exploratory phrase and the recent evidence is insufficient. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of mycophenolate mofetil (MMF), tacrolimus (TAC), and steroids (multitarget therapy) versus intravenous cyclophosphamide (IVC) and steroids in induction treatment of LN. Background/aim: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of certain maternal, fetal, and umbilical cord blood unit factors on storage and/or discard incidence of collected cord blood units from perinatal medicine patients. Materials and methods: A total of 273 cord blood units collected between January 2011 and December 2016 in the Division of Perinatology of Hacettepe University Hospital were evaluated retrospectively in this study. Background/aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate changes in intracranial pressure following tourniquet deflation using noninvasive ultrasonographic optic nerve sheath diameter (ONSD) measurements. Background/aim: Thiol-disulfide homeostasis is an important antioxidant defense mechanism. This study was conducted to investigate dynamic thiol-disulfide homeostasis in patients with hepatitis B virus-related chronic hepatitis and liver cirrhosis. Materials and methods: Seventy-one treatment-naive patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB), 50 patients with hepatitis B virusassociated liver cirrhosis, and 45 healthy controls were included in the study. Serum total and native thiol concentrations and serum disulfide concentrations were measured using an automated method. Background/aim: This study was performed to assess the diagnostic accuracy of shear wave elastography by virtual touch tissue imaging quantification in patients with diffuse thyroid gland pathology and to differentiate Graves' disease from Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Materials and methods: Thirty patients with Hashimoto's thyroiditis and 22 patients with Graves' disease were evaluated with conventional ultrasonography and shear wave elastography by virtual touch tissue imaging quantification. Background/aim: Benign multiple sclerosis (BMS) patients display preserved somatic neurological functions but nevertheless may develop cognitive dysfunction. Our aim was to explore the impact of computer-assisted cognitive rehabilitation (CCR) on cognitive functions of BMS patients. Materials and methods: Age- and sex-matched BMS patients (n = 21), non-BMS patients (n = 22), and healthy individuals (n = 38) were recruited for evaluation of cognitive functions. Background/aim: We aimed to investigate the effect of long-term use of dexamethasone and prednisolone on the reversal effect of sugammadex. Materials and methods: TTwenty-four male Wistar albino rats were divided into three groups. Background/aim: The current study was carried out to describe the clinical presentation, antimicrobial susceptibility pattern, and outcome of invasive nontyphoidal Salmonella disease (iNTS) in a tertiary care center. Materials and methods: A 5-year hospital-based retrospective study was carried out on blood culture-confirmed cases of iNTS. Medical records of patients were reviewed to obtain information on demography, clinical manifestations, comorbidities, complications, immune status, treatment, and clinical outcome.
