Dysphagia is common in Parkinson disease (PD). Dysphagia may affect quality of life in the early stage of PD and can cause dehydration, malnutrition, or even result in pneumonia and mortality in the late stage. Accordingly, management of dysphagia is a crucial issue in PD. Clinicians and researchers should spend more effort developing sensitive evaluation tools and effective intervention strategies for dysphagia in PD. In the early stage of disease, the Swallowing Disturbance Questionnaire, Münich Dysphagia Test for Parkinson’s Disease questionnaire, or noninvasive tools involving surface electromyography or sensors should be used to detect subtle or mild dysphagia. Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) is an autosomal recessive neuromuscular disease. SMA phenotypes can be determined by the timing of disease onset and the highest level of motor development reachable by the patient. Generally speaking, proximal muscle involvement is more severe than in the distal extremities. In addition, cervical and the masticatory and pharyngeal muscles were likely affected by the disease, which can cause feeding problems and dysphagia. Dysphagia often occurs in stroke patients, who may present oral, pharynx, and upper esophageal sphincter dysfunction, including insufficient chewing and stirring bolus ability, poor pharyngeal contraction, pharynx to upper esophageal sphincter incoordination, and relaxation of the upper esophageal sphincter. Insufficient opening of the upper esophageal sphincter is an obstacle for moving a bolus from the pharynx to the esophagus. The care-issue for dementia is becoming more important as the elderly dementia population rapidly increases in Taiwan. Bladder cancer (BC) is a chronic complication of spinal cord injury (SCI). Limited studies have focused on the risks of BC in SCI patients using voiding function medication for bladder dysfunction. In this retrospective, national-wide, population-based cohort study, SCI patients with registration in the National Health Insurance Research Database (NHIRD) from 1998 to 2013 were included. We describe a 74-year-old woman with right knee osteoarthritis experiencing right tibial neuropathy because of complications of total knee arthroplasty revision. Weakness in the right toe flexors and paresthesia over the sole of the right foot were observed after operation. A nerve conduction study and electromyographic examination indicated right tibial neuropathy. Radiography indicated a prosthesis fragment in the right popliteal fossa, and its location was different before and after surgery. Prosthesis fragment dislodgement was also confirmed through ultrasonography, and the nearby tibial nerve may have been entrapped because of the dislocation process and surrounding tissue fibrosis. There are multiple histological types of soft-tissue sarcomas (STS) that are associated with different prognoses. Liposarcoma (LPS) is the most frequent subtype of STS in extremities and trunk wall in Taiwan.The myxoid liposarcoma is the second most common subtype of LPS and is associated with an intermediate-grade malignancy. Knee osteoarthritis (OA) is a common disease that primarily afflicts older adults. The mainstream management of knee OA involves integrative practice, including patient education, weight reduction, exercise, pharmacological therapy, and non-pharmacological modalities. However, prolotherapy with hypertonic dextrose via either intra-articular or periarticular injection, or a combination of both techniques, has become a strong evidence-based treatment or adjuvant therapy that may be used in addition to conservative management. Background: The ReWalk^(TM) system is an exoskeleton robotic device developed for ambulation assistance in patients with paraplegic spinal cord injury (SCI). The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and walking capability of the ReWalk^(TM) system for patients with paraplegic spinal cord injury in Taiwan. Objective: The study aimed to examine the effect of rehabilitation on mortality in patients with dengue in intensive care units (ICUs). Design: This was a retrospective cohort study. In this study, 142 patients with dengue from ICUs were enrolled from August to December, 2015. They were divided into two groups: patients with or without rehabilitation. The relationship between rehabilitative therapy and the risk of dengue-related mortality was assessed using a multivariate Cox regression model after adjustment for related variables. Objective: To investigate the risk of cardiac arrhythmias among adults with spinal cord injury (SCI). Methods: This is a retrospective population-based matched cohort study. Data were derived from the National Health Insurance Research Database. This study identified all patients diagnosed with SCI from January 1, 2000 to December 31, 2013. Patients with SCI were categorized into the cervical SCI (C-SCI) and other SCI (O-SCI) groups according to the level of injury. Kienböck's disease of the wrist is a multifactorial, progressive osteonecrosis of the lunate bone. Patients with this disease often complain of dorsal wrist pain and other wrist dysfunctions. Image studies are usually required for definite diagnosis; however, careful history taking and physical examination are also necessary. Treatment varies according to the stage of the disease; although surgery is needed in most of the cases, rehabilitation after the surgery seems helpful as well. Introduction: Surfer's myelopathy is a nontraumatic, ischemic spinal cord injury that predominantly affects the lower thoracic cord. Owing to its clinical rarity, its pathophysiology and treatment protocol remain controversial. Frequently discussed hypotheses regarding its cause include ischemic change due to trunk hyperextension and the Valsalva maneuver, leading to back pain, weakness in the lower extremities, and bowel and bladder dysfunction. 脊髓損傷合併臂神經叢損傷臨床上少見且不易診斷與處置。過去研究的報告發生率約為0.6％到1.8％。在脊髓損傷的病人處置時，通常優先處理危及生命的傷害，且臂神經叢損傷的臨床表現也可能歸因於脊髓損傷而被忽略。本文報告一名55歲因車禍意外導致第四節脊髓損傷的男性病人，根據病人的身體檢查、神經學檢查發現右上肢深肌腱反射無反應，以及明顯不對稱的右上肢與左上肢肌力，經過神經傳導檢查及肌電圖檢查，確定該名病人為脊髓損傷合併臂神經叢損傷。同時罹患脊髓損傷及臂神經叢損傷的病人數量可能被低估，治療計畫及復健也更為複雜，早期診斷與適當治療是此類病人上肢功能恢復的重要關鍵。除了詳細探查脊髓損傷病人的臨床症狀、身體檢查、神經學檢查之外，電學診斷對於合併臂神經叢損傷的確診最有效益。

After wearing a hairpin for the entire evening during her sleep, 8-year-old girl experienced acute onset of torticollis and neck pain after walking up the next morning. Plantar fasciopathy is a common problem in the general population involving the proximal area of the central cord of the plantar aponeurosis. Background: Kinesio Taping is effective for treating knee symptoms in various diseases. However, the outcome of using this method in hemophilia patients with knee symptoms has not been previously studied. Objective: To evaluate the therapeutic effects of Kinesio Taping on the knee symptoms in patients with hemophilia who had knee symptoms in the previous year.
