Effect Of Chemical- And Toxin Binder-Treated Cotton Seed Cake On Milk Production, Milkcomposition, And Aflatoxin Concentration In Milk Of Nili Ravi Lactating Buffaloes, Murtaza Ali Tipu, Anjum Khalique, Muhammad Naveed Ul-Haque, Muhammad Qamer Shahid, Maqsood Akhtar, Mubashir Ilyas

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

Twelve multiparous Nili Ravi buffaloes were assigned to 1 of 3 treatments in a randomized, replicated 3 × 3 Latin square design to evaluate the effect of chemical (calcium propionate)- and toxin binder (sodium bentonite)-treated cotton seed cake (CSC) on milk yield and transfer of milk toxin (M1). Periods (20 days) were allocated for each treatment. In the 1st treatment (control), CSC with 100 μg/kg of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) was fed to buffaloes. The 2nd and 3rd treatments were 0.5% calcium-propionate-treated CSC and 1.0% sodium-bentonite-treated CSC, respectively. Each group had 4 multiparous buffaloes. The buffaloes given 0.5% calcium propionate CSC …

Evaluation Of Aflatoxicosis In Hens Fed With Commercial Poultry Feed, Dharumadurai Dhanasekaran, Annamalai Panneerselvam, Nooruddin Thajuddin

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

The effect of aflatoxin in the growth of hens was histopathologically analyzed. Mycotoxigenic fungi were isolated and characterized as Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus niger. The aflatoxin was extracted from Aspergillus flavus and their impact on the growth pattern of hens was evaluated. The histopathological analysis reveals that more lesions were found in the vital organs of hens in comparison with the control chick group. In the present study, it is concluded that the quality of poultry feed plays the most important role in a poultry farm. It is suggested that the use of chicks resistant to aflatoxicosis will help in …

A total of 240 chicks were assigned to 6 dietary treatment groups (0 g of adsorbents and 0 mg of AF/kg feed, 3 g of M/kg feed, 3 g of MN/kg feed, 0.11 mg of AF/kg feed, 0.11 mg of AF plus 3 g of M/kg feed, and 0.11 mg of AF plus 3 g of MN/kg feed). Compared to the control, AF alone significantly decreased ADG and feed …

Efficacy Of Tribasic Copper Chloride (Tbcc) To Reduce The Harmful Effects Of Aflatoxin In Broilers, Sefa Çeli̇k, Zeynep Erdoğan, Suat Erdoğan, Ramazan Bal Jan 2005

Efficacy Of Tribasic Copper Chloride (Tbcc) To Reduce The Harmful Effects Of Aflatoxin In Broilers, Sefa Çeli̇k, Zeynep Erdoğan, Suat Erdoğan, Ramazan Bal

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of copper as tribasic copper chloride on serum biochemical values and growth performance of broilers intoxicated with aflatoxins. Aflatoxins significantly decreased the level of albumin (P < 0.001), total protein (P < 0.001) and total cholesterol (P < 0.01), and increased the activities of alanine amino transferase, L-lactic dehydrogenase and alkaline phosphatase (P £ 0.001) in serum. These AF-induced changes were significantly improved by adding tribasic copper chloride to the diet. The decrease in serum copper concentration induced by aflatoxin was reversed by tribasic copper chloride. Serum zinc concentrations were not affected in tribasic copper chloride and tribasic copper chloride plus aflatoxin groups. Serum iron levels decreased in all the treatment groups significantly (P < 0.05). Aflatoxins caused significant decrease in the body weight gain and significant increase in the feed conversion ratio. Adverse effects of aflatoxins on feed conversion ratio were reversed by tribasic copper chloride supplementation to the diet. It is suggested that tribasic copper chloride might be used for reducing the adverse effects of aflatoxins in broiler production.

The Relationship Between Lameness, Fertility And Aflatoxin In A Dairy Cattle Herd, Serhat Özsoy, Kemal Altunatmaz, Huri̇ye Horoz Kaya, Güven Kaşikçi, Serhat Alkan, Tanay Bi̇lal

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

This study was carried out to determine the relationship between aflatoxins taken with feed, laminitis, lameness and impaired fertility. Lesions were identified in the claw and hock region, causing lameness in 45 cattle in an establishment of 300 Holstein dairy cattle. Of these lame cattle, 27 had cystic ovaries and 10 had cystic ovaries together with clinical metritis. The increase in lameness and fertility problems occurring in this herd, living under the same management and feeding conditions, was determined to start with the change in feed concentrates and, in order to investigate the relationship with mycotoxins, Aflatoxin B_1 (AFB_{1}) analysis …

The Effect Of Aflatoxin B1 On The Vitamin A Storage In The Livers Of Broiler Chicks, Berri̇n Salmanoğlu

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

The effect of AFB1 in feed on the liver and serum vitamin A and b-carotene levels and the ability of the liver to stor vitamin A in broiler chicks were investigated. Twenty day-old Ross broiler chicks were randomly allocated into 4 groups with 5 each in the control group, group I, group II, and group III. The chicks of the control group and group I were fed ad libitum on broiler chick growing feed. The chicks of group II and group III were fed ad libitum on feed with AFB1 (4 ppm/kg) feed. On the seventh day, vitamin A palmitate …
