The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of intra vaginal progesterone releasing device (IVPRD), estradiol and GnRH for resynchronization on fertility of non-pregnant Holstein dairy cows. Non-pregnant cows (n = 117) were divided into three groups. The first group (n = 38) was treated with Ovsynch [GnRH, day 0; PGF2α, day 7; GnRH, day 9; timed artificial insemination (TAI), day 10]. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of different chicken infectious anemia virus (CIAV) vaccine strains in breeders and progeny under field conditions. For this experiment, one commercial poultry company was selected, and independent management for each house was applied to avoid vaccine cross contamination. Reproductive biotechnologies are critical tools for saving and maintaining endangered species. Some successes have been reported with the use and integration of artificial insemination (with fresh or frozen-thawed semen) in conservation programs. However, not a single species is currently managed through oocyte freezing or embryo-based technologies. This is primarily due to the lack of knowledge of species biology, as well as inadequate facilities, space, expertise, and funding needed for their successful application. The effects of β-glucan and mannan-oligosaccharide (BG + MOS) supplementation in feed on growth performance, bacterial population in feces and immune responses of weaned pigs were investigated. Two hundred and eighty-eight weaning piglets were randomly allocated into 3 groups with 8 replicates per group and 12 pigs per replicate. Group 1, as control, was fed a commercial basal nursery diet. Canine atopic dermatitis (AD) is a common, chronic relapsing inflammatory skin disease. An aqueous extract, PG102, derived from Actinidia arguta fruit, has been investigated as an anti-inflammatory agent in humans and atopy-like animal models, but its underlying mechanism for canine AD treatment has not been fully understood. Cisplatin (CDDP)-induced nephrotoxicity is mediated via oxidative stress and may be alleviated using antioxidant activity. Although megadose of vitamin C may cause oxalate nephropathy and apoptosis, the antioxidant effect of vitamin C may be beneficial when given along with CDDP. The effect of condensed tannin supplementation in diet on lipid peroxidation in the muscle was evaluated in Nile tilapias (Oreochromis niloticus). In total, 250 fish, aged 21 days old, were randomly allocated into 10 experimental tanks, 25 fish per tank. Five tanks were set as the control group and 5 tanks as the supplemented group. Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) infection is an emerging or re-emerging infectious disease found in several countries. The ecology of this virus involves humans, reservoir animals, and mosquito vectors. Two experiments were conducted in this study. Blood samples were collected and tested for CHIKV infection by using immunocytochemistry (ICC) staining and reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). For the first experiment, BALB/c mice were inoculated with 106.3 CID50/mouse. The study was conducted to determine the prevalence of bartonellosis in two hundred well-cared client-owned cats that have close relationship with their owners in Bangkok metropolitan area from November 2010 to November 2011. These cats had no clinical signs at the time of presentation and no visual flea infestation. Blood collection was performed and cultured in 5% rabbit blood agar. Species of Bartonella spp. was identified with Polymerase Chain Reaction and gene sequencing. Results demonstrated that eleven out of the two hundred cats were positive for bartonellosis. Balloon valvuloplasty for correction of congenital pulmonic stenosis (PS) in two dogs by intervention technique was first reported in Thailand. Both dogs did not show any clinical signs related to congestive heart failure. Physical examination in both dogs revealed heart murmur. Electrocardiographs of both dogs were recorded and showed normal sinus rhythm with deep S wave. In the first dog, thoracic radiograph revealed cardiomegaly with enlargement of the main pulmonary artery and left deviation of the apex due to right ventricular enlargement. Inducible Vancomycin Resistance Is Common In Porcine Enterococcus Gallinarum And E. Casseliflavus Isolates, Wanida Tharvornvee, Chantima Pruksakorn, Porntippa Lekcharoensuk

Enterococcus gallinarum and E. casseliflavus possess intrinsic vancomycin resistance, which is mediated by vanC-1 and vanC-2 gene clusters, respectively. The VanC resistance phenotype is expressed inducibly or constitutively. This study characterized the expression types for vancomycin resistance in 23 porcine E. gallinarum and 19 porcine E. casseliflavus isolates with vancomycin minimum inhibitory concentrations between 4 and 16 μg/ml. The vanSC and vanSC-2 genes were sequenced and the deduced amino acid sequences were compared to those of the inducible and constitutive resistance reference strains. The efficacy of 10% w/v fipronil spot-on for treatment and prevention of Rhipicephalus sanguineus infestation on cats was examined. Twelve cats were randomly allocated into two groups which were the treatment and control groups. The treatment group received 10% fipronil spot-on at a dosage of 6.7 mg/kg on day 0. This study aimed to assess the prevalence of aminoglycoside resistance genes in S. Typhimurium isolated from poultry carcasses in Iran, and to reveal the most prevalent patterns of antimicrobial resistance. A total number of 300 samples of poultry carcasses were analyzed. Salmonella was isolated from 245 samples (81.66%). Multiplex PCR showed that 56.3% of the samples belonged to serovar S. Typhimurium and the remainder (43.6%) contained the rest of serovars. The highest rate of drug resistance was observed for tetracycline (97.0%), nalidixic acid (87.0%) and amoxicillinclavulanic acid (67.4%). The aim of this study was to describe the phenotypic characteristics of native black-bone chickens indigenous to Northern Thailand. Nine qualitative and 6 quantitative traits were taken from 57 adult chickens of three genotypes, namely Chee Fah, Fah Luang and Papasoong. Only single type of comb and black shank were observed for all genotypes. The most prominent color of the comb was black followed by red and blackish red, respectively. Necropsy findings of a white Bengal tigress were a subcutaneous mass of 10 cm in diameter in the right rear limb which was classified as fibrosarcoma. Stem cell-based therapy employing bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells has been proposed as a promising approach for bone regenerative treatment. Despite numerous studies supporting the application in human medicine, such information in veterinary practice is still lacking. Thus, this study aimed to investigate in vitro osteogenic differentiation potential of canine bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells under different doses of β-glycerophosphate supplement. Skin biopsied tissues from two dogs, initially diagnosed as hemophagocytic histiocytic sarcoma (HHS) by histopathology, were immunostained with a series of antibodies against lambda light chains, kappa light chains, multiple myeloma oncoprotein 1 (MUM-1), CD-3, paired box 5 (PAX-5), E-cadherin and lysozyme. Heteroduplex polymerase chain reaction for antigen receptor rearrangements (hPARR) was additionally performed on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissues to rule out lymphomas from histiocytomas. Results showed that both cases were immunopositive for lambda light chains, MUM-1, PAK-5 and lysozyme, indicating a diagnosis of extramedullary plasmacytoma (EMP). เหตุผลของการทำวิจัย : ที่ผ่านมามีการศึกษาภาวะซึมเศร้าและพฤติกรรมรุนแรงของผู้ป่วยจิตเภทเป็นจำนวนมาก แต่ยังไม่พบการศึกษาในกลุ่มผู้ป่วยจิตเภทที่มีคดีในประเทศไทย อีกทั้งยังไม่พบการศึกษาที่เชื่อมโยงกันระหว่างภาวะซึมเศร้าและพฤติกรรมรุนแรงวัตถุประสงค์ : เพื่อศึกษาหาความชุก ความสัมพันธ์ และปัจจัยที่เกี่ยวข้องกับภาวะซึมเศร้าและพฤติกรรมรุนแรง และศึกษาความแตกต่างของภาวะซึมเศร้าและพฤติกรรมรุนแรงของผู้ป่วยโรคจิตเภททั่วไปและผู้ป่วยโรคจิตเภทที่มีคดี ที่เข้ามารับการรักษาในสถาบันกัลยาณ์ราชนครินทร์รูปแบบการวิจัย : การศึกษาวิจัยเชิงพรรณนา ณ ช่วงเวลาใดช่วงเวลาหนึ่งสถานที่ทำการศึกษา : สถาบันกัลยาณ์ราชนครินทร์ตัวอย่างและวิธีการศึกษา : เก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลจากผู้ป่วยโรคจิตเภทที่เข้ามารับการรักษาในสถาบันกัลยาณ์ราชนครินทร์ จำนวน 140 คน โดยใช้แบบคัดลอกข้อมูลจากแฟ้มประวัติผู้ป่วย แบบสอบถามข้อมูลส่วนบุคคลแบบสอบถามความรู้สึกหลากหลายมิติเกี่ยวกับความช่วยเหลือทางสังคม (ฉบับปรับปรุงภาษาไทย) แบบประเมินอาการซึมเศร้าในผู้ป่วยจิตเภท และแบบประเมินพฤติกรรมรุนแรง สถิติที่ใช้ ได้แก่Descriptive Statistic, Chi – Square Test และ Logistic RegressionAnalysisผลการศึกษา : ผู้ป่วยโรคจิตเภทมีภาวะซึมเศร้า (46.4%) และมีพฤติกรรมรุนแรง(32.9%) ความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างภาวะซึมเศร้าและพฤติกรรมรุนแรงอยู่ในระดับต่ำ มีค่า Phi เท่ากับ 0.11 และมีสัดส่วนของการมีภาวะซึมเศร้าและพฤติกรรมรุนแรงในผู้ป่วยโรคจิตเภทที่มีคดีความสูงกว่ากลุ่มผู้ป่วยจิตเภททั่วไป เป็น 1.9 (OR = 1.9, X2 = 2.76,P-value = 0.097) และ 1.3 เท่า (OR = 1.3, X2 = 0.55, P-value =0.459) แต่ไม่มีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ ซึ่งการมีอาการข้างเคียงของยา(OR = 3.45, P-value = 0.002) สัมพันธภาพในครอบครัว (OR = 1.68,P-value = 0.027) และการสนับสนุนทางสังคม (OR = 0.51,P-value = 0.007) สามารถทำนายการเกิดภาวะซึมเศร้าได้ และปัจจัยที่ทำนายการเกิดพฤติกรรมรุนแรง ได้แก่ การดื่มสุรา (OR = 0.90,P-value < 0.001) และประวัติการฆ่าตัวตาย (OR = 0.72,P-value = 0.014)สรุป : ผู้ป่วยโรคจิตเภทมีภาวะซึมเศร้า ร้อยละ 46.4 และมีพฤติกรรมรุนแรงร้อยละ 32.9 โดยปัจจัยที่สัมพันธ์กับภาวะซึมเศร้า ได้แก่ อาการข้างเคียงของยา สัมพันธภาพในครอบครัว และการสนับสนุนทางสังคมและปัจจัยที่สัมพันธ์กับพฤติกรรมรุนแรง ได้แก่ การดื่มสุรา และประวัติการฆ่าตัวตาย สำหรับการมีคดีถึงแม้เพิ่มโอกาสการมีภาวะซึมเศร้าและพฤติกรรมรุนแรง แต่ก็ไม่มีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ.

Isthmic spondylolisthesis ในรายที่เป็น high grade สามารถทำให้เกิดความผิดปกติของsacro – pelvic orientation ซึ่งส่งผลให้เกิดความผิดปกติต่อ spine-pelvic orientation ร่วมด้วยในบทความนี้กล่าวถึง Spinal Deformity Study Group (SDSG) โดยการจำแนกแจกแจงความผิดปกติของ spino-pelvic และ sacro-pelvic orientation และแนวทางการรักษา โดยจะต้องคำนึงถึงระยะการเคลื่อน (slip), sacro-pelvic balance และ sagittal balance ของโครงสร้างกระดูกทั้งตัวและในบทความยังกล่าวถึงอาการต่าง ๆ ที่แสดงให้เห็นจากการถ่ายภาพรังสี ซึ่งเป็นตัวบ่งบอกถึงความเสี่ยงที่กระดูกเคลื่อนผิดแนวได้มากขึ้น.

เหตุผลของการทำวิจัย : การสูบบุหรี่ถือเป็นปัญหาในทุกสังคม ที่ส่งผลเสียต่อตนเองและคนรอบข้าง ซึ่งคนรอบข้างยังจะได้รับสารพิษที่มาจากควันบุหรี่ โดยที่ตนเองไม่ได้เป็นผู้สูบและไม่สามารถเลือกปฏิเสธได้ โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งหญิงตั้งครรภ์ที่ได้รับควันบุหรี่ อาจส่งผลกระทบในหลาย ๆ ด้านวัตถุประสงค์ : เพื่อทราบค่าความชุกของหญิงตั้งครรภ์ที่ได้รับควันบุหรี่มือสองในระหว่างตั้งครรภ์และศึกษาปัจจัยที่สัมพันธ์กับการได้รับควันบุหรี่มือสองในระหว่างตั้งครรภ์รูปแบบการวิจัย : การวิจัยเชิงพรรณา ณ จุดเวลาใดเวลาหนึ่งสถานที่ทำการศึกษา : โรงพยาบาลจุฬาลงกรณ์ สภากาชาดไทยตัวอย่างและวิธีการศึกษา : เก็บข้อมูลจากหญิงตั้งครรภ์ที่มีอายุครรภ์ระหว่าง 13 - 24 สัปดาห์ที่มารับบริการฝากครรภ์แผนกสูตินรีเวชกรรม ที่โรงพยาบาล จุฬาลงกรณ์สภากาชาดไทย โดยใช้แบบสอบถามข้อมูลส่วนตัว และตรวจปัสสาวะโดยชุดตรวจ Direct barbituric acid (DBA) method สถิติที่ใช้ ได้แก่descriptive statistic, Chi – square test และ logistic regressionanalysisผลการศึกษา : หญิงตั้งครรภ์ที่ศึกษาทั้งหมด 296 คน หญิงตั้งครรภ์ที่ได้รับควันบุหรี่มือสองจากที่บ้านและที่ทำงานในระหว่างตั้งครรภ์มีจำนวน 116 คนร้อยละ 39.19 สำหรับปัจจัยที่สัมพันธ์กับการได้รับควันบุหรี่มือสองในระหว่างตั้งครรภ์ ได้แก่ อายุน้อย รายได้ไม่เพียงพอ ระดับการศึกษาที่ต่ำกว่าปริญญาตรี รวมถึงการมีสมาชิกในบ้านที่สูบบุหรี่ และสูบบุหรี่ในบ้าน โดยสมาชิกเป็นญาติใกล้ชิด เช่น สามี บิดา มารดา ญาติใกล้ชิดที่สูบบุหรี่ การสัมผัสการสูบบุหรี่เป็นเวลา 30 นาทีหรือมากกว่าและที่ความถี่อย่างน้อยสัปดาห์ละครั้งเกี่ยวข้องกับการสูบบุหรี่มือสองสรุป : จากการศึกษาพบว่าหญิงตั้งครรภ์ที่ได้รับควันบุหรี่มือสองมีค่าความชุกร้อยละ 39.19 โดยปัจจัยที่สัมพันธ์กับการได้รับควันบุหรี่มือสองในระหว่างตั้งครรภ์เป็นสิ่งที่ไม่สามารถควบคุมได้ เช่น ปัจจัยส่วนบุคคลงานวิจัยนี้พบว่าคนในครอบครัวที่สูบบุหรี่เป็นปัจจัยหลักที่ทำให้หญิงตั้งครรภ์ได้สัมผัสควันบุหรี่มือสอง.
