A young boy with no premorbids was admitted with fever, fits and psychosis. His initial investigations including cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) routine examination, electroencephalogram(EEG) and MRI brain with contrast were normal. His autoimmune encephalitis panel revealed positive voltage gated potassium channel(VGKC) antibodies, anti -leucine rich glioma inactivated 1 antibody (LG1) group and was give five doses of methylprednisolone and five sessions of plasmapheresis. Psychiatric symptoms took one month to respond. He had a complete recovery. In Pakistan, the treatment gap for mental disorders is significantly high. Pakistan faces a unique problem of sustainable delivery. In 2009, WHO launched a mental health gap action program (mhGap) to provide evidence-based services at the primary and secondary level for the prevention and management of psychiatric and neurological disorders. This article highlights the discrepancies of the systems and issues related to mental health services provision in Pakistan. Background: Cultural assessment is critical due to the increased movement and resettlement of people across the globe, and diverse cultural groups in Uganda. This is putting the health care delivery systems serving the communities under pressure to recognize the different attitudes of people towards health and to develop care systems that are effective in meeting diverse needs. However, despite the importance of cultural assessment in nursing literature, little is known about the cultural assessment competence of Ugandan midwives. Background and objectives: Current research reports that Pakistan exceeds the recommended percent of deliveries via cesarean sections, including both emergent and non-emergent. In order to better understand the high rate of cesarean sections in Pakistan we examined the medical and non-medical indications of these surgeries at a private university hospital in Karachi.

Methods: A retrospective analysis of patient medical record data was conducted from January 1st, 2018 to March 31st, 2018. The data collected was analyzed using SPSS 25.

Access to a skilled professional midwife is the right of each woman. Research evidence shows that midwives prepared to international standards decrease rates of morbidity and mortality and promote health of both mothers and infants. At present, in Pakistan, there are several midwifery cadres, with different formal education levels, who provide maternal and child health services. Thrombosis of cerebral venous sinuses and/or cortical veins (CVST) is an infrequent type of stroke for which anticoagulation is considered standard of treatment. However, 40% of CVST patients have evidence of parenchymal changes like edema or haemorrhage on neuroimaging which complicates use of anticoagulation in such cases. Therefore, Novel Oral Anticoagulants (NOACs) are recently being used for treatment of CVST as they are associated with half the risk of intracerebral haemorrhage as caused by vitamin K antagonist. Motor neuron disease (MND) is a progressive degenerative disorder of the motor neurons, resulting in progressive limb, bulbar and respiratory muscle weakness. No definitive disease modifying treatment is available at this time. The mainstay of management remains multidisciplinary care, which has shown to improve quality of life, prevents complications and may also increase life span. In this review, different medical specialties necessary to offer complete multidisciplinary care are discussed. Symptomatic management of individual symptoms commonly experienced by patients with MND is elaborated on.
