Type-2 diabetes mellitus has become a chronic disease that can lead to serious complications and can only be prevented by compliant treatment of the patients. Compliance can be influenced by various factors, one of which is interpersonal factors. This study aimed to identify various interpersonal relationship problems between patients and healthcare workers that can affect their treatment compliance behavior. Macroalgae are abundant sources of bioactive polysaccharides and prospective candidates for effective and non-toxic substances. This study aims to preliminary characterize and determine the in vitro antioxidant activity and cancer cell growth inhibitory activity against human lung adenocarcinoma cell (A549) of the polysaccharide from an invasive green alga, Caulerpa taxifolia. Crude polysaccharide (CP) was extracted from the dried algal sample of C. taxifolia by hot water extraction followed by absolute ethanol precipitation. Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) is diabetes mellitus emergency which is defined by the biochemical triad of hyperglycemia, ketonemia, and acidemia. Diabetic ketoacidosis continues to have high rates of morbidity and mortality despite advances in the treatment of diabetes. Crucial aspects of DKA management involve adequate replacement of fluids and electrolytes, particularly potassium, and the continuous administration of insulin. Hydration status in patients with DKA and heart failure can be assessed by physical examination, such as consciousness, vital signs, capillary refill time, skin turgor, jugular venous pressure, and signs of pulmonary edema. Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) typically presents in patients at an advanced stage, with a poor prognosis. The development of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) – tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) and the systematic identification of EGFR mutations heralded the advent of targeted therapy in lung cancer, transforming the landscape of its treatment and prognosis. This is a case of 37 years-old female patient presented with metastatic bone disease secondary to pulmonary adenocarcinoma EGFR mutation positive which demonstrated a remarkable result to TKI.

This study describes the development of N-benzyl-1,10-phenantrolinium salt as an antiplasmodium agent. The salt, that is, 1-(4-ethoxy-3-methoxybenzyl)-1,10-phenanthrolin-1-ium bromide, was prepared using vanillin as the starting material in four simple synthetic steps. First, the alkylation of vanillin using diethyl sulfate produced 4-ethoxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde in 79% yield. Second, the reduction of the protected vanillin by NaBH4 through the grinding method allowed us to obtain 4-ethoxy-3-methoxybenzyl alcohol in 96% yield. Next, the bromination of the benzyl alcohol under solvent-free condition led to the formation of the corresponding benzyl bromide, which in turn underwent bimolecular nucleophilic substitution with 1,10-phenanthroline to produce the desired …

The biological activity and solubility of compounds are influenced by its chemical structure. These properties can be improved by substituting alkyl, alkoxy, and/or haloalkane in the parent skeleton. In this research, the synthesis of 3-(7-bromoheptyl)-2-methyl-5-methoxy-1,4-benzoquinone (3a) and 3-(10-bromodecyl)-2-methyl-5-methoxy-1,4-benzoquinone (3b) was achieved through the decarboxylation reaction. The solubility and biological activity of 3a and 3b were compared with that of thymoquinone (TQ), which acts as an anti-inflammatory agent.
