IMPORTANCE: Recent studies have identified characteristic symptom patterns of long COVID (LC) in adults and children older than 5 years. However, LC remains poorly characterized in early childhood. This knowledge gap limits efforts to identify, care for, and prevent LC in this vulnerable population.
OBJECTIVES: To identify symptoms that had the greatest difference in frequency comparing children with a history of SARS-CoV-2 infection to those without, to identify differences in the types of symptoms by age group (infants/toddlers [0-2 years] vs preschool-aged children [3-5 years]), and to derive an index that can be used in research studies to identify young …

HCA Healthcare Journal of Medicine
Introduction
The Care Alert Program (CAP) is designed to help navigate encounters with patients who are high utilizers of Emergency Department (ED) resources. The CAP intends to address the needs of this challenging patient population by designing individualized care plans that are approved by a multidisciplinary committee. The patient populations that frequently use ED resources often have chronic medical conditions, a poor understanding of their conditions, unrealistic expectations regarding treatment, a lack of outpatient resources, and present with multiple complaints when using ED resources.
Methods
The CAP was adopted by our facility in the spring of 2020. The present study …

Graduate Student Government Association Research Conference
Fasting during the holy month of Ramadan is one of the obligatory duties in Islam, which includes refraining from consuming food and drinks and engaging in sexual activity from dawn to sunset. Though pregnant women are exempted from this practice, approximately 80-90% of Muslim pregnant women choose to fast during Ramadan as part of their religious and cultural beliefs. The impact of fasting holy month of Ramadan during pregnancy on pregnancy/birth outcome remains under debate, despite several primary research studies and literature reviews. Up to date, no guidelines or recommendations have been formulated regarding fasting holy month of Ramadan for …

Access to clean water remains a global challenge. According to the World Health Organization, in 2020 unsafe water and poor sanitation contributed to approximately 485,000 deaths annually due to diarrhea; one of the leading causes of child mortality in low- and middle-income countries. In Indonesia, UNICEF reported that nearly 70% of household drinking water sources are contaminated with fecal matter, increasing the risk of diarrhea, particularly among children under five. This study aims to analyze the association between the use of piped drinking water and the incidence of diarrhea among children under five in Indonesia. A cross-sectional study design was …

Mode of delivery has recently been associated with idiopathic neonatal jaundice. As seen at Melati Husada Women and Children Hospital in Malang, the increasing number of caesarean section was followed by increased frequency of neonatal hyperbilirubinemia. This hyperbilirubinemia should be resolved within two weeks, therefore, prolonged jaundice should be deeply investigated. This research aimed to investigate the relationship between mode of delivery and neonatal serum bilirubin at 48 hours after birth at Melati Husada Women and Children Hospital in Malang. The Effect Of Blue Light Filter Lens Glasses On The Occurrence Of Asthenopia Symptoms In Visual Display Terminal Users, Arif Hening Mustikaningrum, Dewi Sumaryani Soemarko, Indah Suci Widyahening
Occupational and Environmental Medicine Journal of Indonesia
The widespread use of Visual Display Terminals (VDTs) is associated with visual and musculoskeletal complaints, particularly Asthenopia, which may reduce productivity. A 32-year-old female financial worker presented with eye discomfort, including sore eyes, blurred vision, dizziness, and twitching on her left temple, particularly during extended computer use. The symptoms were relieved with rest. Most VDTs now use Light Emitting Diodes, which emit more blue light than LCDs and may cause eye fatigue and disrupt sleep. Currently, blue light filter lenses are available in the market, however, further study of existing scientific publications is necessary to ensure the effectiveness of blue …
