Development of a RN Clinical Coach program to improve retention of ICU residents and fellows
Background:
The COVID-19 pandemic caused contributed to significant increases in ICU nurse turnover. To restore the ICU nursing workforce and rebuild a healthy work environment, evidence-based strategies are needed to provide social support and ongoing clinical skills development for large cohorts of ICU residents and fellows.
Purpose:
The purpose of the Clinical Coach program was to increase retention of ICU residents and fellows and foster a healthy work environment at a ministry in Southern California.

Interprofessional Collaboration Optimizes Oncology Navigation Efficiency And Value, Lauri Ledbeter, Whitney Daws, Rebekah Hart, Lindsay Shimizu
Providence Nursing Research Conference 2023 – Present
Background: Oncology navigation programs have evolved to include services for addressing cancer care barriers, focusing on care coordination, patient experience, and care value, and may include nurses, social workers, and non-licensed trained workers as care navigators. The 2023 Enhancing Oncology Payment Model (EOPM) requires navigation services and emphasizes improving care value and outcomes. Effective healthcare navigation and collaboration can improve value by reducing care duplication, missed appointments, and emergency admissions; identifying and addressing health-related social needs; addressing health inequities; and improving time-to-treatment initiation and patient retention. The Institute of Medicine also advocates for healthcare professionals to work interprofessionally, implement quality …

Artificial Intelligence-Based Chatbots For Promoting Health Behavioral Changes: Systematic Review, Abhishek Aggarwal, Cheuk Chi Tam, Dezhi Wu, Xiaoming Li, Shan Qiao
Publications
BACKGROUND: Artificial intelligence (AI)-based chatbots can offer personalized, engaging, and on-demand health promotion interventions. OBJECTIVE: The aim of this systematic review was to evaluate the feasibility, efficacy, and intervention characteristics of AI chatbots for promoting health behavior change. METHODS: A comprehensive search was conducted in 7 bibliographic databases (PubMed, IEEE Xplore, ACM Digital Library, PsycINFO, Web of Science, Embase, and JMIR publications) for empirical articles published from 1980 to 2022 that evaluated the feasibility or efficacy of AI chatbots for behavior change. The screening, extraction, and analysis of the identified articles were performed by following the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items …
Family Caregivers Of Older Adults With Physical Disabilities In Rural Thailand, Denis Tuttle, Jiranan Griffiths, Anuchart Kaunnil
Family Caregivers Of Older Adults With Physical Disabilities In Rural Thailand, Denis Tuttle, Jiranan Griffiths, Anuchart Kaunnil
The Qualitative Report
Thailand is one of many countries experiencing changes in the demographics of its population. People are living longer and having fewer children resulting in an increasing percentage of older adults in the general population. This presents a challenge in providing care for older adults, especially in countries where there is a culture of family caregiving. This study aims to investigate the experience of family caregivers, exploring the problems of caring for older people with physical disabilities and the needs of family caregivers. This is done to better understand ways to support caregivers. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, 15 family caregivers …

Introduction: High-quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) improves a patient’s chance of survival. High-quality CPR started immediately after cardiac arrest combined with early defibrillation can double or triple the chances of survival.
In 2021 Joint Commission (JC) provided new and revised in-hospital resuscitation standards due to suboptimal patient outcomes related to poor resuscitation performance.

Annual Research Symposium
Hypothesis/Purpose: In this report we present a case of a 20-year-old female with congenital intellectual disability, stunted growth, and hypothyroidism. Competitive genetic hybridization (CHG) revealed a loss of 17p13.3, and the deletion was not present in either parent. This deletion has not previously been characterized, but mutations on the p-arm of chromosome 17 are responsible for Miller-Dieker Syndrome and Isolated Lissencephaly Sequence, both of which share symptoms in common with the patient.
Methods: Peripheral mononuclear cells (PBMCs) were used for karyotyping and competitive genetic hybridization (CHG). Bioinformatic analysis was carried out using the Genome Data Viewer (ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/genome/gdv).
Results: Karyotype was …
