Evaluation Of Yolk Sac Diameter, Gestational Sac Diameter, Embryonic Heart Rate As Prognostic Factor Of 1st Trimester Outcome, Fahd Abdelal Al Omda, Mohamed Ibrahim Mohamed, Abdelrahman Ali Abdallh Okasha Jan 2024

Evaluation Of Yolk Sac Diameter, Gestational Sac Diameter, Embryonic Heart Rate As Prognostic Factor Of 1st Trimester Outcome, Fahd Abdelal Al Omda, Mohamed Ibrahim Mohamed, Abdelrahman Ali Abdallh Okasha

Al-Azhar International Medical Journal

Background: Ultrasound at 5 weeks gestation reveals the yolk sac's hypoechoic centre and echogenic rim. Between 8 and 11 weeks of pregnancy, it expands and then disappears. Larger yolk sacs cause more miscarriages. Normal yolk sacs reduce first-trimester complications. A normal yolk sac predicts a 94% typical result. By 5 weeks, the embryonic heartbeat is visible. The fetal heart rate rose from 118 to 167 beats per minute between 6 and 10 weeks. An embryonic heart rate (EHR) of 100 BPM is abnormal and related to an 83.3% loss rate early in pregnancy (6-9 weeks). Aim: Does Assessment of gestational …

A Comparative Study Of The Transverse Cerebellar Diameter Of The Fetus With The Biparietal Diameter And Femur Length In Estimation Of Diagnostic Accuracy Of Gestational Age In The Second And Third Trimesters Of Pregnancy, Mohamed Mohamed Gebreel, Mofeed Fawzy Mohamed, Sherif Ahmed Hassan Abdel Fattah Jan 2024

A Comparative Study Of The Transverse Cerebellar Diameter Of The Fetus With The Biparietal Diameter And Femur Length In Estimation Of Diagnostic Accuracy Of Gestational Age In The Second And Third Trimesters Of Pregnancy, Mohamed Mohamed Gebreel, Mofeed Fawzy Mohamed, Sherif Ahmed Hassan Abdel Fattah

Al-Azhar International Medical Journal

Background: The management of antenatal care and the successful planning of an appropriate intervention or therapy depend greatly on the determination of gestational age (GA). When dates are ambiguous or there is a suspicion of intrauterine growth retardation, transverse cerebellar diameter (TCD) provides a significant advantage in predicting GA. Aim of the work: to compare TCD measurement to existing fetal biometric measures such as femur length (FL) and biparietal diameter (BPD) in order to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of TCD measure in estimating GA throughout the second and third trimesters. Patients and methods: The obstetrics and gynecology department of El-Sheikh …

Alopecia As An Early Clinical Marker For Azathioprine Induced Myelosuppression: A Case Report, Nilanjana Dutta , Final Year Mbbs, Dr. M Suresh Babu , Professor, Dr. Subramanian Ramaswamy , Professor, Dr. Mahabaleshwar Mamadapur , Assistant Professor

Digital Journal of Clinical Medicine

Azathioprine is a pro-drug and is metabolized by the TPMT enzyme in the body. In South Asians, Azathioprine is known to cause alopecia and bone marrow suppression in patients with TPMT enzyme deficiency. In India, the prevalence of TPMT mutation varies from 1.2- 10%. A new mutation was detected in 2014, NUDT15 whose incidence varies from 8.5-16%. Patients with mutation in both TPMT and NUDT15 develop myelosuppression faster. In our case, alopecia manifested as the first clinical feature of Azathioprine myelosuppression. Physicians need to recognize early clinical clues (alopecia) to avoid the impending development of myelosuppression and to look for …

Advancing School Nursing Practice: A Novel Approach To Screening For Gastrointestinal Disorders In Children, Ashley Bunting, Isabella Cavlan Jan 2024

Advancing School Nursing Practice: A Novel Approach To Screening For Gastrointestinal Disorders In Children, Ashley Bunting, Isabella Cavlan

Nursing | Student Research Posters

California schools currently only screen for vision and hearing, leaving many other health concerns unaddressed. Among these, gastrointestinal (GI) health is particularly significant, as digestive disorders can lead to severe consequences, like malnutrition and stunted growth. By incorporating routine GI screenings, school nurses can promote the early detection of disease, allowing for timely intervention and improved health outcomes in children.

Based on existing literature, we have developed a novel pediatric GI screening tool for school nurses to use in routine screenings, presented below.

The study is aimed to determine the relationship between the delivery and breastfeeding history of the patients andthe clinicopathological properties of breast cancer.Materials and methods: A questionnaire was utilized for the study, which included the age of diagnosis, the number of children at thetime of diagnosis, the age of the children, and the breastfeeding period of each child. Results: The study included 828 patients. The median age at diagnosis was 47 years for parous women and 42 years for nonparouswomen (p < 0.001). The tumor size of the patients diagnosed within the breastfeeding period was significantly larger compared to theother patients. Estrogen and progesterone receptor positivity were lower in patients diagnosed during breastfeeding. Additionally, themean number of positive lymph nodes, dissected lymph nodes, and positive lymph node/dissected lymph node ratio in parous andbreastfed patients with a nonmetastatic disease were statistically significantly higher in multivariable analysis than those patients whowere nulliparous and have not breastfed. Conclusion: Breast cancer is seen at a later age in patients who are parous than those who have never given birth. Patients who areparous and have breastfed tend to present with a higher stage of the disease.

The Right Ventricle Outflow Tract Systolic Function Could Predict The Severity Of The Cirrhosis, İbrahim Dönmez, Güray Can, Emrah Acar

Turkish Journal of Medical Sciences

The distinctive liver framework is converted into structurally abnormal nodules as a consequence of tissue fibrosis in cirrhosis. Cardiac dysfunction in cirrhosis was described, and the term “cirrhotic cardiomyopathy (CCM)” was coined to describe this syndrome. Recent research has shown that the contractile characteristics of the right ventricular outflow tract (RVOT) have a significant impact on right ventricular functions. The right ventricular outflow tract-systolic excursion is an important systolic function marker of RVOT (RVOT-SE). There has yet to be published research on RVOT function in cirrhotic patients. We looked at the relationship between cirrhosis severity and the RVOT-SE.Materials and methods: …

Congenital anomalies of the kidney and urinary tract(CAKUT) are the leading causes of childhood chronic kidney disease (CKD). The etiology of most of the cases is thought to be multifactorial. In this study, risk factors for CAKUT and the effect of mobile phone-related electromagnetic field (EMF) exposure during pregnancy were investigated.Materials and methods: Fifty-seven cases and 57 healthy controls under 2 years of age were included and their mothers were subjected to a questionnaire. Groups were compared for parents’ demographics, pregestational (chronic disease, body mass index, use of the folic acid supplements) and antenatal variables (gestational disease, weight gain during …

Background and Aim: Metabolic diseases, such as chronic low-grade inflammation, insulin resistance and adipocyte hypertrophy have been linked to obesity. The influence of perioperative probiotic administration on bariatric surgery yielded conflicting results. We directed this randomized controlled study to outline the effects of probiotic administration on the effects of laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy. Patients and Methods: This randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled study included 83 cases, undergoing laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, to take either probiotics or placebo. The primary result was the anthropometric measurement at 3 months after the surgery. The secondary outcomes included lipid profile, glycemic control and serum vitamins D and B12. …
