Background/aim: To compare the effectiveness of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) and extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) used in myofascial pain syndrome (MPS) and to determine whether they are superior to conservative treatment (CT). Materials and methods: A total of 42 female patients (aged 18-60 years) diagnosed with MPS were enrolled and randomly assigned to either the CT (n = 14), CT+IASTM (n = 14), or CT+ESWT group (n = 14). Background and aim: The aim was to investigate the effect of thoracic mobilization exercises on hamstring flexibility. Materials and methods: One hundred twenty individuals with hamstring tightness were included in the study. The participants were randomized into two groups: the experimental group (EG) (n = 60) or the control group (CG) (n = 60). The EG performed a homebased thoracic mobilization exercise program comprising 2 sets with 10 repetitions, once a day, 3 days a week, for 4 weeks. The aims of this study were to primarily investigate fatigue and sleep and to secondarily examine possible relationships between disease activity, pain, and functional ability in children and adolescents with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA). Materials and methods: Ninety-six patients were enrolled in the study. Background/aim: To compare local infiltration anesthesia (LIA) and peripheral nerve block (PNB) in repairing hand lacerations. Materials and methods: This prospective study was designed as a randomized, controlled, unblinded trial. Fifty four patients with hand lacerations were included in the study. While 23 of these patients had LIA, PNB was performed in the remaining 31 patients. Lidocaine hydrochloride 2% and 27 gauge needles were used. The aim of this study was to validate the Pain Catastrophizing Scale (PCS) in the Turkish population and to investigate its correlation with the demographic and clinical characteristics of patients. Materials and methods: Volunteer patients, who were scheduled for elective surgery and who applied to the Outpatient Clinic of Anesthesiology for preoperative evaluation, were asked to complete a PCS form. To compare postoperative analgesia provided by single shot "3-in-1" femoral nerve blockade using 0.25% or 0.375% levobupivacaine in preceding with spinal anesthesia for unilateral total knee replacement surgery. Materials and methods: Forty consenting patients undergoing unilateral total knee arthroplasty were included in this prospective randomized study. Spinal anesthesia was achieved with 15 mg plain bupivacaine at the L3-4 or L4-5 interspace. Chronic pancreatitis is a benign disease often characterized by recurrent episodes of abdominal pain accompanied by progressive pancreatic exocrine and endocrine insufficiency; it sometimes requires multiple hospitalizations. This disease is frequently the result of chronic alcohol abuse, even if other factors such as genetic alterations, autoimmune disorders, and obstructive disease of the biliary tract and the pancreas may cause the disease.
