The Effect Of Selected Nurse-Patient Contacts On The Attendance Of Non-Private Patients At Preparation For Childbirth Classes, Judith A. Hart

The purpose of this study was to determine whether selected nurse-patient contacts effected the attendance of non-private patients at Preparation for Childbirth classes. During the data collection period only six of the eight patients who met the criteria for this study were available. Each of the six patients was reached by at least one of the three types of nurse-patient contacts-- a letter of invitation to the Preparation for Childbirth classes, weekly contacts with the patients at the classes and three home visits to each patient. A Comparison Of The Drinking Behavior Of Delinquent Youth Versus Non-Delinquent Youth In The States Of Idaho And Utah, Henry Dean Garrett

A questionnaire on drinking behavior and attitudes was administered to 292 delinquent youth confined in youth detention homes in St. Anthony, Idaho, and Ogden, Utah, and to 466 students i n the secondary schools of the Pocatello. School District, Pocatello, Idaho.

Using a Chi Square analysis, comparisons were made of responses between the delinquent and non-delinquent groups to questions regarding first drinking experience, present drinking behavior, attitudes toward drinking, criminal acts while drinking alcoholic beverages, age, race, sex, family income, population of area lived in, with whom the students lived, and parents' drinking behavior. Student understanding and use of alcohol and tobacco at Utah State University was studied under the following areas: specific knowledge as it relates to smoking and health and drinking and health, student opinions and attitudes toward smoking and drinking, smoking and drinking experiences, the influence of certain factors on smoking and drinking status, and source and credibility of tobacco and alcohol information.

Thirteen hundred seventy-eight students were sampled with the use of a questionnaire. It included 567 freshmen, 274 sophomores, 345 juniors, and 192 seniors. The sample covered each of the eight colleges at the University.

This study presents a historical account of intercollegiate wrestling at Utah State University, from its introduction into the athletic program in 1921 until the school year of 1966. Data were gathered by use of historical research methods and personal interviews.

The intercollegiate wrestling program at Utah State University has shown steady growth and development since its introduction in 1922. The primary motivating force behind the wrestling program was George "Doc" Nelson.

Scientific Approach To 4-H Food Projects, Grace Brill

Journal of the Minnesota Academy of Science

The scientific approach to 4-H food projects resulted from the stress on science from federal extension personnel of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and from surveys and consultations with representatives of the National Science Foundation. The result has been six bulletins prepared by the extension nutritionists of the University of Minnesota for the approximately 24,000 4-H members, aged 9 to 19, enrolled in 4-H food projects in Minnesota. The scientific approach has, consequently, added the question of "why" to the traditional 4-H approach of "how-to-do-it."
