Public School Physical Therapists: Role Definition And Educational Needs, Pamela Levangie

All PTHMS Faculty Publications

Questionnaires returned by 328 physical therapists were analyzed to 1) establish a role definition for public school therapists and 2) determine the educational needs of therapists preparing for public school service. The therapists ranked 15 skills in importance to the role of the public school physical therapist and in urgency of their need to develop each skill. They also indicated which educational format they believed would be most appropriate for developing each skill. The respondents were divided into four groups matched by experience in treating children and by exposure to public school physical therapy. Rank-order correlations within each of these …

Hospital Care in Ten Departments is a series of lessons which serve as an introduction to students planning to enter English-speaking hospitals for On-the-Job Training. The text gives the students an idea of what occurs in ten different hospital departments and enables them to more easily choose the department in which they would like to work. The hospital stories are followed by a section on suggested activities which could be used for any story. Finally, there is a section on specific exercises for specific lessons.

The purpose of this paper is to examine current infant feeding practices as they concern infantile obesity. Our current practices will be compared to the historical factors such as feeding practices of one hundred years ago. Physical, cultural, and psychological factors of infantile obesity will also be considered with and compared to current infant feeding practices with a view toward establishing recommendations for the feeding of inf ants of our culture.

This study was designed to investigate the relationship, in a counseling session, of an initial guided meditation by a counselor to presence, a core condition of counseling and psychotherapy as defined in psychosynthesis. Presence consists of two variables--the quality of the therapeutic relationship and the ability of the counselor or therapist to disidentify from his or her personality and become identified as a 11 Self. 11 The quality of the therapeutic relationship was measured by the Barrett-Lennard Relationship Inventory.
