Introduction: Electronic cigarette or vaping-associated lung injury (EVALI) is an acute or subacute condition characterized by acute respiratory symptoms and bilateral pulmonary infiltrates seen in patients who are exposed to electronic cigarettes or vapes. The condition has been strongly linked to inhalation of aerosolized vitamin E acetate, particularly in THC-containing e-cigarette products. Despite regulation of vitamin E acetate in the production of electronic vapes, it continues to be a byproduct of EVALI due to counterfeit electronic vapes. BACKGROUND Robust biomarkers that capture the combined effects of inflammation and tissue hypoperfusion, are needed to refine post–acute myocardial infarction (AMI) risk stratification—especially in the large subset that develops congestive heart failure (CHF). Two emerging candidates are the lactate/albumin ratio (LAR) and the red-cell-distribution-width/albumin ratio (RAR). Separate studies have linked each ratio to short- and long-term mortality in critical illness, AMI, and heart failure, yet no work has directly compared their performance together. We addressed this evidence gap in a large, multi-hospital dataset.

Introduction: Thoracic endometriosis syndrome (TES) is a rare condition in which functional endometrial tissue spreads to the thoracic cavity. Manifestations of TES include catamenial hemoptysis, pneumothorax, and pleural effusions along with symptoms of dyspnea, cough, and pleuritic chest pain.1 Approximately 6 to 10% of women of reproductive-age women develop TES with concurrent pelvic endometriosis in 80% of patients.2 Treatment of TES includes medical management with progesterone-based oral contraceptive pills (OCPs) and surgical management involving cardiothoracic surgery. Fu’s Subcutaneous Needling (FSN) is a modern needling technique distinct from traditional acupuncture, primarily used for musculoskeletal pain, neuropathic conditions, and emerging applications in rehabilitation. FSN is also designated as a kind of dry needling focusing on deactivating myofascial trigger points. This review categorizes FSN-related studies into case reports, clinical trials, and animal studies, evaluating its therapeutic efficacy, safety, and mechanisms. Case reports suggest that FSN provides rapid pain relief and functional improvement, while clinical trials, including randomized controlled trials (RCTs), support its role in reducing pain and enhancing neuromuscular function despite limitations in sample size and protocol consistency. Purpose

The global Assessing long-teRm Outcomes in dupiluMAb (AROMA) registry study aims to characterize the long-term, real-world use of dupilumab in patients with chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP). This paper reports interim analysis of the baseline characteristics for the first 303 patients enrolled in AROMA.

Methods and materials

AROMA is currently ongoing in adult patients with CRSwNP who initiated dupilumab for up to 36 months. This interim analysis describes baseline demographics; systemic/oral corticosteroid (SCS/OCS) and antibiotic use; disease burden; healthcare resource utilization; and medical history. All outcomes are summarized descriptively.

Combined therapies with Heat Shock Protein 90 (HSP90) inhibitors and Heat Shock Protein 70 (HSP70) inducers are gaining significant interest in cancer and cardiovascular research. Here, we tested the hypothesis that HSP90 inhibitors and HSP70 inducers, together, can block the development of pulmonary fibrosis. Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has caused a global health crisis, marked by high transmissibility and virulence. Despite widespread vaccination efforts, effective treatments for COVID-19, particularly for severe cases leading to Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS), remain limited. This study investigates the efficacy of KVX-053, a protein tyrosine phosphatase type IVA (PTP4A3) small molecule inhibitor, in modulating SARS-CoV-2-induced inflammation and lung injury using in vitro cell models and in vivo K18-hACE2 transgenic mice. KVX-053 reduced in vitro pro-inflammatory cytokine expression, including TNFα, CXCL10, and CXCL11, without impacting viral replication or cell viability. Appendicular lean mass index is a major determinant of cardiorespiratory fitness in patients with obesity-related heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). Moreover, appendicular lean mass index can be used to diagnose sarcopenia and sarcopenic obesity in this population. We aimed to validate the ability of segmental single-frequency bioelectrical impedance analysis (SF-BIA) to assess body composition compared with dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA) in patients with HFpEF and obesity, with a focus on appendicular lean mass index for its critical role in diagnosing sarcopenia and sarcopenic obesity.

Introduction: A schwannoma is an encapsulated nerve sheath tumor originating from differentiated Schwann cells. They are preferentially localized to the head, neck and extremities with a minor occurrence of 1-3% in the retroperitoneal space. Schwannoma symptoms often are asymptomatic due to slow growth but can present with symptoms according to their location. We investigated lost workdays (LWDs), short-term disability (STD), and long-term disability (LTD) in the 12-month period following a burn injury. Methods: An observational cohort study was conducted using a commercial claims database, IBM® MarketScan®. Patients aged ≤65 years with an ICD-10 burn diagnosis from 2018 to 2019 were included.
