Purpose. To examine fatigue failure load value of etch-and-rinse and self-adhesive luting systems used to bond ZLS to dentin. This clinical study aims to determine differences in lipstick stains between ceramic veneers and natural teeth. Types of lipsticks affected lipstick stains on ceramic veneers and natural teeth were also investigated. A total of 30 patients were divided into two groups: ceramic-veneer (CV) group and natural-teeth (NT) group with 15 patients in each group. Seven lipstick types: Gloss & Balm, Gloss & Sheer, Cream, Liquid matte, Matte & Frost, Satin, and Matte were applied on patients’ lips. Endodontic failures are mainly caused by persistence of microorganisms in the root canal system. Enterococcus faecalis has been reported as the most commonly isolated species from root canals with endodontic treatment failure in many studies, but was not the dominant species in others. Recent studies showed that Candida albicans is found together with Enterococcus faecalis within infected root canals in a polymicrobial community and both species can form biofilm. The purpose of this study was to compare patient-reported outcome measures including post-operative pain, swelling, patient's expectation and satisfaction among 3 techniques of dental implant placement including a) conventional freehand, b) dynamic, and c) static Computer-Aided Implant Surgery. Ninety patients were randomly assigned to receive dental implant placement with one of the 3 protocols. Participants were asked to fill in a series of self-administered questionnaires assessing 1) pre-operative expectations, 2) post-operative healing events during the first week after surgery, and 3) overall satisfaction with the procedures at two weeks. The objective of this study is to clarify the effect of endothelin-1 on COX-2 mRNA expression and PGE2 production from human periodontal ligament fibroblasts. Effect of various concentration of ET-1 on cell viability of primary human periodontal ligament fibroblasts was determined by an MTT assay. Then, primary human periodontal ligament fibroblasts were treated with 10 pM ET-1 for 0.5, 1, 2, 4 hours to investigate the time-course effect. The purpose of this experimental study was to evaluate wear characteristics and retention force of the RetenDent mini-implant overdenture system (Chulalongkorn product) after the insertion-removal fatigue test. One-piece mini-implants attachment system for overdenture, Osstem MS denture® type implant (OSSTEM, Germany GmbH), and RetenDent mini-implant were tested. All samples were subjected to repeated insertion and removal fatigue cycles by the universal testing machine (E1000, INSTRON Instrument, England). Removal of zirconia crowns, commonly used as cement-retained implant fixed restorations, can be challenging. Conventional methods of crown removal are time consuming and often leave irreparable damage to the crown, which can be costly to patients and practitioners. This research explored the use of two different types of pulsed erbium lasers, erbium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet laser (Er:YAG) and erbium, chromium-doped yttrium, scandium, gallium and garnet (Er,Cr:YSGG), as non-invasive tools to retrieve cemented zirconia crowns from zirconia implant abutments. Objectives: The aim of this study was to determine if treatment plans differ when evaluating previously endodontically treated molars using periapical images (PA’s) alone versus PA’s and CBCT.

Methods: A retrospective cohort chart review was conducted including 67 previously treated molars that had a CBCT taken. Two calibrated board-certified endodontists evaluated standard PA’s. A data sheet questionnaire regarding radiographic findings and treatment plan decisions was completed. Two weeks later, the same steps were repeated but the examiners evaluated both PA’s and CBCT images and again arrived at a recommended treatment plan.

Alveolar bone marrow stromal cells (aBMSCs) play important roles in craniofacial wound healing. To establish an easy, efficient and reliable method to harvest aBMSCs, we compared three different methods: extraction socket aspiration, osteotomy aspiration and bone core digestion. Samples of aBMSC were collected from two groups of subjects. Group 1 (dental extraction): after dental extraction, 22.5-gauge needles were used to collect 0.5-1cc marrow aspirate. Purpose: Pulp canal obliteration (PCO) is a common sequela of dental trauma, caries, restorations and vital pulp therapy procedures. Despite the application of high magnification and CBCT imaging, access cavity preparation for such cases is prone to procedural errors that may lead to substantial loss of dentin structure thereby reducing the long-term prognosis. Periodontitis is an inflammatory disease with a bacterial etiology in a susceptible host. Given the bacterial etiology, a selective antimicrobial agent with minimal side effects could be a useful adjunct to traditional therapy. Amixicile is a novel antimicrobial that targets the pyruvate: ferredoxin oxidoreductase (PFOR) which is an enzyme that is critical for anaerobic bacterial metabolism. Introduction: Bone-borne maxillary expander (BBME) are designed to provide additional anchorage to widen the maxillary arch for patients who exhibit maxillary transverse deficiency. One form of BBME is the hybrid BBME which uses mini-implants (bone-borne) and posterior teeth (tooth-borne) as anchorage for maxillary expansion. Background: Referred odontogenic pain (RP) is a phenomenon that is seen regularly in dentistry and it is not extensively understood. It can make formulating a proper diagnosis difficult and its presence can lead to inappropriate treatment.

Methods: 250 patients experiencing odontogenic pain within the dental clinics of West Virginia University were surveyed. The survey inquired about the patient’s biographical information, medical history, characteristics of the pain, the presence and location of RP, and the psychosocial effects of the pain.
