In previous works, it has been shown, by using ethylene inhibitors and precursors, that ethylene could participate in the regulation of the enhanced ferric reductase activity of Fe-deficient Strategy I plants. However, it was not known whether ethylene regulates the ferric reductase gene expression or other aspects related to this activity. This paper is a study of the effects of ethylene inhibitors and precursors on the expression of the genes encoding the ferric reductases and iron transporters of Arabidopsis thaliana (FRO2 and IRT1) and Lycopersicon esculentum (= Solanum lycopersicum) (FRO1 and IRT1) plants. Differential Plant Injury And Yield Responses Of Tomato Varieties To 2,4-D, D. P. Coyne, O. C. Burnside
Nebraska Agricultural Experiment Station: Historical Research Bulletins
Experiments reported in this bulletin were conducted to determine the extent of plant injury and yield loss due to high and low rates of 2,4-D sprays on a wide range of home garden and processing tomato varieties. Results of this study could be used as a basis for suggesting tomato varieties suitable for growing in areas where 2,4-D drift is a common problem. An experiment was also conducted to determine if there was resistance to or good recovery from 2,4-D injury in other tomato species and in a wide collection of tomato plant introductions.

Tests conducted during the past four years at the Nebraska Agricultural Experiment Station have shown that when seeds are planted in cold, wet soils, better stands of vigorous seedlings are generally obtained when the seeds are treated before they are planted.
