Bulletin 4267 - Growing Macadamia Nuts, John Dick, Alec Mccarthy
Bulletin 4267 - Growing Macadamia Nuts, John Dick, Alec Mccarthy
Bulletins 4000 -
The macadamia (Macadamia integrifolia and M. tetraphylla) are native Australian trees that have been developed as a commercial food crop.
About two million macadamia trees are planted in Australia over 6000 hectares. These produce about 12,000 tonnes of nuts. New South Wales and Queensland account for 90 per cent of the trees.
Unfortunately, Western Australian conditions are different again to the eastern States. Therefore, local trials will be required before varieties particularly suited to this State's conditions can be developed.

Arkansas Rice Research Studies 1992, B. R. Wells
Arkansas Agricultural Experiment Station Research Series
The research reports in this publication represent one year of results; therefore, these results should not be used as a basis for longterm recommendations. Several research reports in this publication dealing with soil fertility also appear in Arkansas Soil Fertility Studies 1992, Arkansas Agricultural Experiment Station Research Series 425. This duplication is the result of the overlap in research coverage between the two series and our effort to inform Arkansas rice producers of all the research being conducted with funds from the rice check-off.

Life History And Description Of Immature Stages Of Procecidochares Stonei Blanc & Foote On Viguiera Spp. In Southern California (Diptera: Tephritidae), John F. Green, David H. Headrick, Richard D. Goeden
Life History And Description Of Immature Stages Of Procecidochares Stonei Blanc & Foote On Viguiera Spp. In Southern California (Diptera: Tephritidae), John F. Green, David H. Headrick, Richard D. Goeden
Horticulture and Crop Science
Procecidochares stonei Blanc & Foote is a facultatively multivoltine, stenophagous, gall-forming fruit fly on Viguiera laciniata Gray and V. deltoidea Gray var. parishii (Greene) Vasey and Rose (Asteraceae) in southern California. The latter host record is new; other published host records are questioned. Eggs, first through third instar larvae, and puparia are described for the first time. Galls formed on both host plants are described. The severe drought in southern California during the last 5 years has reduced the densities of P. stonei on V. d. var. parishii. Fly reproduction was restricted to one generation per year on the few …
Eradication Of Apple Scab, John Cripps, Ralph Doepel
Eradication Of Apple Scab, John Cripps, Ralph Doepel
Journal of the Department of Agriculture, Western Australia, Series 4
The detection of apple scab in two orchards at Pemberton and New/ands in December 1989 ended Western Australia's 41-year, scab-free span for apple growers .
Without eradication orchardists would have had to apply up to 20 fungicidal sprays a year, at an annual cost of $1-2 million, to be able to market a high proportion of scab-free fruit. The industry chose eradication as the cheaper alternative, but the location of infected orchards at Pemberton in particular, with its high rainfall, suggested that it would be difficult .
Scab, or black spot, is the most serious fungal disease of apples in …
