Pertumbuhan dan hasil suatu tanaman merupakan hasil interaksi antara karakter genetik setiap kultivar dengan lingkungan tumbuhnya. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menetapkan kultivar kedelai yang paling cocok ditanam pada musim hujan di dataran medium ( ± 753 m dpl) dan dataran tinggi ( ± 1200 m dpl). Penelitian merupakan percobaan lapangan dilaksanakan pada April sampai dengan Juli 2016. Percobaan dirancang dalam Rancangan Acak Kelompok sederhana yang menguji kultivar meliputi Anjasmoro, Argomulyo, Arjasari dan Grobogan yang diulang 5 (lima) kali. Jagung dan kedelai merupakan tanaman pangan terpenting setelah padi di Indonesia. Konsumsi jagung dan kedelai akan terus mengalami peningkatan setiap tahun dikarenakan pertambahan jumlah penduduk. Salah satu upaya untuk meningkatkan produksi tanaman dapat dilakukan dengan cara tumpangsari. Sistem tumpangsari merupakan sistem pertanaman dengan menanam dua atau lebih jenis tanaman secara serentak pada lahan yang sama dalam waktu satu tahun. Peningkatan produksi tebu saat ini akan terhambat dengan adanya fenomena pemanasan global yang disertai dengan perubahan iklim hingga mempengaruhi sebaran air hujan. Akibatnya musim hujan sering terjadi secara sporadis dan kurang dapat diprediksi. Di sisi lain kondisi lahan kebanjiran akibat genangan air berpotensi menyebabkan stress abiotik pada tanaman tebu yang secara langsung berpengaruh terhadap produktivitas tanaman. Permasalahan utama tanaman ini adalah rendahnya produksi yang disebabkan oleh kurangnya ketersediaan unsur hara dan tinggi tanaman yang terlalu tinggi. Untuk mengatasi hal tersebut penyediaan benih kentang dilakukan dengan kultur jaringan, dengan menghasilkan benih Go. Bahan alami yang dapat digunakan sebagai sumber pemberian Zat Pengatur Tumbuh (ZPT) diantaranya adalah urine kelinci dan air kelapa. Pemberian urine kelinci, air kelapa dan kom-binasinya diharapkan dapat memberikan pengaruh terhadap pertumbuhan rimpang dan kandungan minyak atsiri jahe merah. Plasma nutfah tanaman merupakan sumber bahan genetik bagi program pemuliaan tanaman. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi keragaman genetik plasma nutfah ubi kayu liar berdasarkan karakter morpho-agronomy. Percobaan dilaksanakan pada bulan Desember 2014 hingga Juni 2015. Rancangan percobaan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan perlakuan 23 aksesi ubi kayu liar dan diulang sebanyak dua kali. Analisis komponen utama menghasilkan biplot dengan nilai PC1 dan PC2 yang memiliki kontribusi terbesar terhadap variasi yaitu masing-masing sebesar 27.98% dan 19.45%. Kawasan Bumiaji merupakan kawasan wisata yang berada di Kota Batu. Suhu rata-rata udara mencapai 20 oC menyebabkan Bumiaji menjadi kawasan yang cocok untuk tanaman hortikultura misalnya jambu biji varietas kristal. Tanaman jambu biji varietas kristal pada pemeliharaannya diberikan pupuk berupa pupuk organik maupun pupuk anorganik beserta beberapa pestida untuk menekan peledakan hama dan penyakit tanaman. Luas daun merupakan salah satu parameter penting yang diperlukan untuk mengetahui pertumbuhan tanaman kedelai (Glycine max L.), oleh karena itu diperlukan teknik pengukuran yang cepat dan tepat. Dengan mengetahui luas daun, maka akan diketahui indeks luas daunnya dengan cara membaginya dengan luas kanopi tanaman. Selain pengukuran dengan menggunakan Leaf Area Meter, pengukuran dengan menggunakan metode dasar (gravimetri) masih sering dipergunakan. Secara vegetatif dengan memanfaatkan tanaman yang banyak tumbuh di bawah tegakan kelapa sawit seperti Asystasia gangetica dan Nephrolepis biserrata sebagai tanaman penutup tanah, sedangkan secara mekanik dengan memotong panjang lereng melalui pembuatan teras gulud. A novel soilless technique for the production of lettuce was developed and evaluated for its viability for ornamental greenhouse growers adapting their ebb-and-flood irrigation benching systems to diversify into growing lettuce, without having to purchase the conventional nutrient film technique (NFT) or deep flow technique (DFT) hydroponic systems. After harvest, rough rice is dried, then dehulled and typically milled before consumption. A broad objective of the “rice drying process”, which comprises drying and tempering, is to maximize the yield of “whole, intact milled kernels”, quantified by the “head rice yield” (HRY). We tested the efficacy of the Full Spectrum and Red-Blue HORTILED TOP LED fixtures manufactured by PL Light. Both fixtures had an 80° light distribution.

The efficacy of the fixtures was measured using flat plane integration as described by Nelson and Bugbee (2014)1 (see adjacent photo). The fixtures were suspended at 0.65 m above the floor in a 3 × 3 m room with flat black walls. Golf course putting greens require a high level of inputs predicated on timely, well informed decisions. Putting green quality is ultimately defined by performance of the turfgrass, and this performance encompasses both (i) the health and vitality of the turfgrass plants, and (ii) the ability of the turfgrass to exist as a playing surface, as it interacts with the golf ball. Thus, new technologies are needed to combat these troublesome weeds. A new non-GMO, herbicide-resistant rice type is under development that is resistant to quizalofop, an acetyl coenzyme A carboxylase (ACCase)-inhibiting herbicide that will allow for selective grass weed control in rice. Urea-N fertilizer is typically applied at the 5-leaf stage to rice (Oryza sativa L.) grown in a dry-seeded, delayed-flood production system. How long the preflood-N can be delayed without adverse effects on yield potential is poorly understood. The research objective was to determine the effects of preflood-N application and flood establishment timing on aboveground-N content, 50% heading, yield components, and grain yield. Palmer amaranth is a principal weed problem across the United States and is resistant to several herbicide modes of action. By 2008, Palmer amaranth in Arkansas was reported to be resistant to both ALS- and EPSPS-inhibitors, but the predominant resistance mechanisms are yet to be explored. In this research, the effects of long-term conventional and no-tillage systems on the selected soil properties were determined in a continuous corn system on a farm with Maury silt loam soil. Glyphosate, the main ingredient in Roundup®, is the most widely used herbicide in the world. It is also used in combination with another effective herbicide, 2,4-D, in the formulation called Enlist Duo®. The EPA approved the use of Enlist Duo® on certain crops including those genetically modified to be resistant to both herbicides. The Grains, Seeds and Hay Industry Funding Scheme (IFS) has been operating since 2010 to address biosecurity threats relevant to Western Australia’s (WA) grains, seeds and hay industry. The Scheme was established under the Biosecurity and Agriculture Management Act 2007 to enable growers to identify the pest and disease priorities at a whole-of-industry level and raise funds for activities to address these priorities.

There are currently three Industry Funding Schemes in operation. In addition to the Grains, Seeds and Hay IFS, there is a Cattle IFS and a Sheep and Goat IFS. The three IFSs operate in a similar manner. …

This study evaluated the feasibility of reintroducing mechanical weed control as an alternative for herbicide-resistance weed infestations. The production practice tested included row cultivation with a separate banded spray application using high-accuracy automated guidance systems. A range of ground speeds were tested for the row cultivation operation, each with a different per acre cost and timeliness penalty. A typical eastern Corn Belt farm with a rotation of corn and soybean served as the base for the linear programming model. Background: There are significant limitations in existing methods for the genome-wide identification of genes whose expression patterns affect traits.

Results: The transcriptomes of five tissues from 27 genetically diverse maize inbred lines were deeply sequenced to identify genes exhibiting high and low levels of expression variation across tissues or genotypes. Transcription factors are enriched among genes with the most variation in expression across tissues, as well as among genes with higher-than-median levels of variation in expression across genotypes.
