The Impact Of Elevated Co2, Uv-B Irradiation, And Rising Temperature On Quinoa, Mohamed Yousif
The Impact Of Elevated Co2, Uv-B Irradiation, And Rising Temperature On Quinoa, Mohamed Yousif
Theses
Climate change is driving simultaneous increases in atmospheric CO₂, surface UV-B radiation, and temperature, yet most crop research has examined these stressors in isolation, leaving their combined effect on nutritional quality poorly understood. Quinoa (Chenopodium Quinoa Wild.), a stress-tolerant C3 pseudocereal, has been promoted as a climate-resilient forage and food crop for arid regions, but its performance under realistic multi-stress conditions remains uncertain. This study therefore asked whether quinoa can maintain biomass, yield, and mineral quality when exposed to elevated CO₂, enhanced UV-B, and rising temperature individually and in combination, and whether their interaction is additive or non-additive.

Thesis/ Dissertation Defenses
Grapevines, among the most commercially significant fruit crops, are valued for their use in table grapes, raisins, and winemaking but are highly vulnerable to abiotic stresses such as drought, heat, and salinity. This study investigated the morphological, physiological, biochemical, and transcriptomic responses of grafted grapevines to drought stress, emphasizing rootstock-scion interactions. Grafting experiments were conducted with three rootstocks (Ramsey, RU140, and Paulsen) and table grape varieties (Thomson Seedless, Crimson Seedless, and Flame Seedless), with five combinations as Flame seedless × Ramsey (V1), Thompson seedless × Ramsey (V2), Crimson seedless × R110 (V3), Crimson seedless × Ramsey (V4) and Thompson seedless …

Biochemical Characterization Of Date Palm (Phoniex Dactylifera L) Seeds Maintained At Microgravity In Outer Space Iss, Shamma Khalid Aldhaheri
Theses
The UAE’s vision to reach space dates to 1976 when Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan met with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Apollo group; this meeting marked the first attempt of UAE to enter the field of space science. The UAE is currently one of the top countries executing space missions and research. This research focuses on the biochemical characterization of date palm seeds that are sent to the International Space Station (ISS) in outer space. The research methodology involves biochemical analysis of seeds maintained under two different environmental conditions-microgravity and standard gravity. In total, 30–45 seeds …
Comparison Of Three Different Woody Plant Species For Their Ability To Utilize Nutritional Elements Supplied In The Form Of Biosolids And Mineral Fertilizers, Fatima El-Telib Hassan
Comparison Of Three Different Woody Plant Species For Their Ability To Utilize Nutritional Elements Supplied In The Form Of Biosolids And Mineral Fertilizers, Fatima El-Telib Hassan
Theses
Crop production systems of the future will need to focus on recycling rather than flow- through of mineral nutrients. Much of the nutrients that leave agricultural systems with crop products eventually end up in household waste and sewage. Returning nutrientrich products from wastewater treatment to agricultural soils must be done in an environmentally sound and culturally acceptable manner. More than 300,000 hectares of forest have been planted in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), consisting mainly of native species, such as Prosopis cineraria (Ghāf) and Vachellia tortilis (Samr). It has been proposed that sewage sludge, the dry residue from wastewater treatment, …

Increasing tractor weight during agricultural operations is one of ways to optimization the performance of tractor tires interacting with soil. One of these methods is adding weight on the front of the tractor, which leads to better engagement of front tires with soil. In four-wheel drive tractors also causes better steering wheel drive tractors, in addition it prevents from weight transfer to the rear of the tractor, which causes overturning. In this research, a new approach has been proposed that proves automatic weight transfer is possible by putting some lightweight instead of main weights on the front of the tractor. …

According to agricultural experts, saffron is one of the crops that can be a good solution to the problem of drought in a water crisis situation. A plant which uses low water consumption and high economic incomes is a good alternative to wheat, a water-consuming crop. Saffron does not need water at all in the summer, and in the fall and winter, rain will irrigate this crop and require very little water during the year. This study was conducted to select the optimum location of saffron cultivation and its comparative study in Sarab with regard to the role of important …
