Bulletin 4133 - Fungal Diseases Of Pasture Legumes In Western Australia, M. J. Barbetti
Bulletin 4133 - Fungal Diseases Of Pasture Legumes In Western Australia, M. J. Barbetti
Bulletins 4000 -
Subterranean clover (Trifolium subterraneum L.) is the most important annual pasture legume in Western Australia, forming the basis of some 6.5 million ha of annual pastures. The success of subterranean clover may be attributed to its ability to increase soil fertility as a consequence of nitrogen fixed, to withstand heavy grazing, to control soil erosion and, with some cultivars, to tolerate waterlogging. Fungal diseases have been a major limitation to the productivity of subterranean clover, affecting both the amount of plant matter and the quantity of seed produced.
Annual medic (Medicago spp., in particular M. polymorpha L.) is also an …
Quarantine Disinfestation A Bibliography With Relevance To Ornamental Plant Material, Kevin Seaton, Daryl Joyce
Quarantine Disinfestation A Bibliography With Relevance To Ornamental Plant Material, Kevin Seaton, Daryl Joyce
Biosecurity published reports
This bibliography has been compiled as part of a programme to develop new and improved techniques for the insect disinfestation of export cut-flowers and cut-foliage. The objective of the programme is to identify the most effective disinfestation treatments. Suitable treatments should kill insects in the flowers without directly injuring the flowers or reducing their postharvest life.
The bibliography presents references relating to the disinfestation of ornamental material (i.e. cut-flowers, cut-foliage, and potted plants). However, it also includes references on disinfestation of fruit, vegetables, and stored grain where this information has some relevance to the disinfestation of ornamental materials. The bibliography …
Effects Of Planting Date On Development Of Net Blotch Epidemics In Winter Barley In Pennsylvania, Leslie M. Delserone, H. Cole Jr.
Effects Of Planting Date On Development Of Net Blotch Epidemics In Winter Barley In Pennsylvania, Leslie M. Delserone, H. Cole Jr.
University of Nebraska-Lincoln Libraries: Faculty Publications
The influence of planting date on fall and spring net blotch epidemics (caused by Pyrenophora teres) was evaluated with the winter barley cultivar Pennrad. Experiments were conducted in Centre County, Pennsylvania, in 1982 and 1983 and in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, in 1983. The three planting dates evaluated corresponded to the recommended date as well as dates I wk earlier and later than recommended for each specific location. Planting date had a significant influence on fall net blotch epidemics, with the greatest and least disease severities observed in the earliest and latest plantings, respectively. When spring environmental conditions were warm …

Bulletin No 3573 - Wheat Diseases In Western Australia, A. G. P. Brown, G. C. Mac Nish
Bulletins - 3000 - 3999
Diseases caused by pathogenic organisms can seriously affect the yield of wheat. Some diseases are comparatively rare whereas others occur over a large area of the wheatbelt year after year.
it is important to be able to identify diseases correctly so that the appropriate control measures can be applied, In the following article the diseases of wheat caused by pathogenic organisms are illustrated, with their symptoms described, and where possible, the control measures given.

Bulletin No 3863 - Plants Which Cause Kimberley Horse Disease, A. L. Payne
Bulletins - 3000 - 3999
Crotalaria crispata and Crotalaria retusa (Rattlepod), two plants responsible for Kimberley horse disease*, are, unfortunately, fairly widespread throughout the Kimberleys. Both species are apparently toxic in all stages of growth.
This bulletin is to assist pastoralists to:-
• Identify the two plants;
• Recognise the type of country and conditions under which they grow; and
• Locate horse paddocks on country where the plants are least likely to occur.

Bulletins - 3000 - 3999
The systematic investigations of the potential of the Ord area for irrigated farming began during the Second World War when the possibilities of damming the river were first examined, initial soil survey was carried out, and agricultural experiments started. The Kimberley Research Station was established on its present site in 1945. A year later the State and Commonwealth Governments agreed to finance and operate the Station jointly, with CSIRO and the Western Australian Department of Agriculture being responsible for research.
The construction of the main dam designed to store 5,675 million m" ( 4.6 million acre feet) was completed in …

Bulletin No 3768 - Submitting Plants For Disease Identification, M D. Marcley
Bulletins - 3000 - 3999
THERE are several important points to remember when submitting plant material for disease identification by the Department of Agriculture's Plant Pathology Branch.
Firstly it is very important to collect a suitable sample because it is very difficult to determine the cause of a plant disease by looking at a completely dead plant. The sample should include the entire plant (before it is completely dead) including roots and soil. Then all the effects of the disease can be seen. For example leaf yellowing, dead areas of the stem, collar rot, root rot, eelworm damage, and disease of the water and food …

A Study Of Puccinia Graminis And Cronartium Ribicola, Duane W. Hughes
Graduate Student Research Papers
It was the purpose of this study (1) to review the literary history of rusts in the United States and in the Northwest in particular, ( 2) to learn where rusts generally are found geographically, (3) to gain further information regarding the etiology of wheat rust (Puccinia graminis tritici), of white pine blister rust (Cronartium ribicola) and to become enlightened on other rusts, (4) to learn ways of controlling the two rusts, black stem rust of wheat and white pine blister rust, and to gain an appreciation of the economic importance of rust prevention.

Bulletin 119 - Take-All Of Wheat And Similar Diseases Of Cereals, W. M. Carne, J. G.C. Campbell
Bulletins 1 - 2999
This important disease, known also as Footrot, Blackleg, and Whiteheads, affects wheat principally, but also occurs on barley, rye, and certain grasses. In a very few instances it has been known to attack oats, but this is so rare that oats may be regarded for practical purposes as free from attack. Of the grasses attacked the most important, from a farming point of view in Western Australia, are Bailey Grass (Hordeum murinum), Silver Grass (Festuca bromoides and F. myuros), and the so-called Spear grasses (Bromus spp.). These annual grasses are very common in the wheat belt.

Bulletin 121 - Mildew, Septoria, Leaf Spots And Similar Diseases Of Cereals, W. M. Carne, J. G. C. Campbell
Bulletins 1 - 2999
Mildew attacks all the cereals as well as many grasses. but as in black stem rust the fungus has developed specialised races, one attacking wheat, another barley, another rye and so on, so that the form attacking wheat will not attack oats, etc
