The Identity Of The Genus Neowawraea (Euphorbiaceae), W. John Hayden
The Identity Of The Genus Neowawraea (Euphorbiaceae), W. John Hayden
Biology Faculty Publications
On the basis of newly acquired morphological evidence gathered in the course of floristic studies, the monotypic genus Neowawraea Rock is now recognized as a species of Flueggea Willd. and is renamed F. neowawraea W. J. Hayden. Taxonomic documentation presented for F. neowawraea includes an expanded morphological description, a map showing its widely scattered distribution in the Hawaiian Islands to which the species is endemic, and discussions of type specimens, common names, and its extreme rarity. The combination of flowers in pedicellate axillary clusters, the lobed staminate disk, pistillode, extrorse anthers, hemitropous ovules, and, especially, the smoothish dry seeds with …

Tb99: Flora Of Oxford County, Maine, Christopher S. Campbell, Leslie M. Eastman
Technical Bulletins
This is a study of the vascular plants occurring in Oxford County, Maine. Plants with vascular or conductive tissue (kingdom Plantae, division Tracheophyta) include the ferns and their "allies" (horsetails and lycopods) and the seed-bearing plants. Our aim has been to determine which plants occur in the county and, based on herbarium collections and observations, their habitat preferences, frequency of occurrence, and geographic distribution. We have also endeavored to explain the nature of the flora first in terms of the various factors which influence its composition and second by grouping the plants into the most important natural associations.

The region embracing the States of Utah and Nevada is much diversified as to both topography and plant covering. Though lying wholly within the arid portion of the United States, it contains high mountains separated one from another by dry desert valleys or by table-lands. The region affords a highly varied topography, and its flora ranges from arctic to subtropical and from truly desert elements to the humid elements of the Rocky Mountains and the Sierra Nevada. With the one hundred and ninth meridian for its eastern boundary and the one hundred and twentieth for its western, the greatest breadth …
