Diversity Analysis Of Green Gram (Vigna Radiata (L.) Wilczek)Through Morphological And Molecular Markers, Gunjeet Kaur, Arunabh Joshi, Devendra Jain, Ravish Choudhary, Divya Vyas

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

Twenty-three genotypes of green gram (Vigna radiata (L.) Wilczek) were collected to determine the extent of genetic diversity through morphological characters as well as random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD), inter-simple sequence repeat (ISSR), and simple sequence repeat (SSR) fingerprinting results. Analysis of variance revealed significant mean square values that indicated a substantial degree of genetic variability among the genotypes. Significant genetic variance was observed for days to 50% maturity, days to maturity, plant height (cm), number of branches/plant, number of pods/plant, pod length (cm), 1000-seed weight (g), seed yield/plant (g), biological yield (g), and harvest index (%) during cultivation in …

Molecular Markers To Evaluate Genetic Diversity Among Venturia Inaequalis Isolates Obtained From Apple Plantations In Isparta Province, Suat Kaymak, Nuh Boyraz, Jon Daniels

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

Turkey, the third leading apple producer in world, produces approximately 2.6 million tons of apples per year. Venturia inaequalis, the causal agent of apple scab, is a major fungal disease among apples varieties. This study was conducted in accordance with the plant protection method for isolates collected from the apple production areas in Isparta Province. The purpose of this study was to determine genetic differences among V. inequalis isolates causing apple scab, and to discriminate the effects of varieties and geographical origins on genetic diversity. For this purpose, a total of 83 samples from the leaves and fruits of infected …

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

Elaeagnus angustifolia L. is a deciduous wild-growing fruit species that plays significant roles in maintaining ecosystem functions in arid regions. In the present study, the fruit characteristics and genetic variations among 56 E. angustifolia accessions collected from the Central Anatolian region of Turkey were determined. The majority of the variations were observed in fruit characteristics. Results revealed that fruit weights varied between 0.59 g and 2.56 g, fruit lengths between 1.13 cm and 2.58 cm, fruit widths between 0.86 cm and 1.67 cm, fruit shape indexes between 0.52 and 0.92, and pedicle lengths between 1.95 mm and 7.74 mm. The …

Genetic Variability And Relationship Studies In New Indian Papaya (Carica Papaya L.) Germplasm Using Morphological And Molecular Markers, Parmeshwar Lal Saran, Ravish Choudhary, Ishwar Singh Solanki, Pravin Patil, Sanjay Kumar

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

Papaya germplasm showed wide morphological diversity in terms of fruit yield, weight, length, cavity, fruiting zone, flesh thickness, flesh color, and total soluble solids content. RAPD and ISSR markers also showed polymorphisms at rates of of 84.32% and 84.67%, respectively. Jaccard's genetic similarity values of RAPD and ISSR were found in the range of 0.30-0.99 (average: 0.65) and 0.26-0.95 (average: 0.61), respectively, suggesting a moderate level of genetic diversity within the papaya group. Seven of the 15 RAPD primers and 5 of the 11 ISSR primers were also able to generate cultivar-specific amplicons, which were used for identification of germplasms …

Genetic Characterization Of Pyrenophora Graminea Isolates And The Reactions Of Some Barley Cultivars To Leaf Stripe Disease Under Greenhouse Conditions, Harun Bayraktar, Kadi̇r Akan Jan 2012

Genetic Characterization Of Pyrenophora Graminea Isolates And The Reactions Of Some Barley Cultivars To Leaf Stripe Disease Under Greenhouse Conditions, Harun Bayraktar, Kadi̇r Akan

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

The genetic diversity of Pyrenophora graminea, the causal agent of barley leaf stripe disease, was characterized by restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) of the rDNA internal transcribed spacer region and intersimple sequence repeat (ISSR) analysis. A total of 45 P. graminea isolates recovered from different geographic origins and barley cultivars or genotypes produced identical RFLP banding patterns with HinfI, MspI, Hin6I and BsuRI restriction enzymes. ISSR analysis indicated that there was little genetic variability among the isolates. A dendrogram based on Jaccard's coefficient separated the isolates into 4 clusters with 12% dissimilarity. In the dendrogram, the isolates collected from different …

Assaying Of Diversity Among Soybean (Glycin Max (L.) Merr.) And Peanut (Arachis Hypogaea L.) Genotypes At Dna Level, Faheem Shehzad Baloch, Cemal Kurt, Hali̇l Hali̇s Arioğlu, Hakan Özkan

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

Developing successful strategies to ensure future increase in yield of soybean and peanut crops hinges in part, on improving the genetic basis of the cultivars. Knowledge of genetic relationships in crop breeding programs provides valuable information that can be used by plant breeders as a parental line selection tool. So far, a thorough analysis of genetic diversity among the soybean and peanut genotypes grown in Turkey had not been attempted at DNA level. In this study, inter-simple sequence repeats (ISSR) and sequence-related amplified polymorphism (SRAP) markers were used to evaluate the genetic diversity between 21 soybean and 32 peanut cultivars …

Genetic Diversity Of Wilt And Root Rot Pathogens Of Chickpea, As Assessed By Rapd And Issr, Harun Bayraktar, F. Sara Dolar

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

Intra- and interspecific polymorphisms among fungal pathogens that cause wilt and root rot on chickpea were investigated by using 30 RAPD (random amplified polymorphic DNA) and 20 ISSR (inter-simple sequence repeats) primers. UPGMA (unweighted pair group method with arithmetic average) cluster analysis of RAPD and ISSR datasets using Dice's coefficient differentiated all fungal isolates from each other and revealed considerable genetic variability between the isolates. The isolates that were not easily separable using morphological characteristics were classified again according to their branching in dendrograms. A partial correlation was observed between cluster analysis and geographic origin of Fusarium solani isolates. Additionally, …
