Nasturtium officinale L. is a plant of significant medicinal importance. The effect of climatic variations on its genetic makeup and biochemistry has not been studied in Pakistan. Present study was conducted to evaluate genetic diversity and variations in sinigrin contents, an important anticancer metabolite, in the leaves of N. officinal collected from different districts of Pakistan including Muzaffarabad, Chilas, Jaglot, Dir, Swat, Abbottabad, and Haripur. Furthermore, the effects of exogenous abscisic acid (ABA), salicylic acid (SA), and sodium nitroprusside (SNP) on the contents of sinigrin and expression of 2-oxoacid-dependent dioxygenase (GSLOH) gene (TR14312) were also studied. Randomly amplified polymorphic DNA …

Aba-Mediated Proline Synthesis In Cowpea Leaves Exposed To Water Deficiency And Rehydration, Roberto Cezar Lobo Da Costa, Allan Klynger Da Silva Lobato, Joaquim Albenísio Gomes Da Silveira, Haywood Dail Laughinghouse Iv Jan 2011

Aba-Mediated Proline Synthesis In Cowpea Leaves Exposed To Water Deficiency And Rehydration, Roberto Cezar Lobo Da Costa, Allan Klynger Da Silva Lobato, Joaquim Albenísio Gomes Da Silveira, Haywood Dail Laughinghouse Iv

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

The aim of this study was (i) to evaluate the impact of water deficit and rehydration on nitrogen compounds and abscisic acid of Vigna unguiculata leaves, and (ii) to investigate the hypothesis that abscisic acid influences proline. The experimental design was entirely randomized in a factorial design, with 2 water conditions (control and stress) and 7 evaluation periods (0, 1, 2, 3, and 4 days under water deficit, followed by the 5th and 6th day under rehydration). The leaf relative water content presented significant reduction, presenting a lower value on the 4th day of treatment under water deficit. After rehydration, …

Statistical Modeling Of The Effect Of Physio-Biochemical Parameters On Water Use Efficiency Of Grape Varieties, Rootstocks And Their Stionic Combinations Under Moisture Stress Conditions, Jogaiah Satisha, G. S. Prakash, R. Venugopalan Jan 2006

Statistical Modeling Of The Effect Of Physio-Biochemical Parameters On Water Use Efficiency Of Grape Varieties, Rootstocks And Their Stionic Combinations Under Moisture Stress Conditions, Jogaiah Satisha, G. S. Prakash, R. Venugopalan

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

The effect of various physio-biochemical parameters on the water use efficiency (WUE) of grape varieties, rootstocks and budded vines was studied in 3 separate experiments at 3 levels of irrigation (100%, 50% and no irrigation) for 14 days of stress cycle. None of the varieties or rootstocks could survive beyond 4 days under the no irrigation treatment. Considerable genetic variability was observed for WUE with respect to photosynthetic rate, transpiration rate, stomatal conductance, root to shoot length ratio, abscisic acid, zeatin riboside, carbon isotope discrimination etc. among grape rootstocks, viz., Dogridge, 1613 C, Salt Creek, St. George and Vitis champinii …

Changes In Endogenous Hormone Levels During The Ripening Of Grape Cultivars Having Different Berry Set Mechanisms, Ni̇lgün Göktürk Baydar, Ni̇hat Harmankaya

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

Concentrations of indole-3-acetic acid (IAA), gibberellic acid (GA_3) and abscisic acid (ABA) were measured by gas chromatography (GC) in the berries of 3 grape cultivars having different berry set mechanisms to elucidate the possible relationship between endogenous hormones and berry set mechanisms. The results obtained showed that the levels of IAA, GA_3 and ABA in seeded Italia, empty seeded Çavuş and stenospermocarpic seedless Perlette changed during ripening. While Italia exhibited a hormonal pattern similar to that of Çavuş, Perlette showed a different IAA and ABA pattern compared to the other cultivars. Generally, IAA and GA_3 were high in the early …
