Effects Of Bleaching Process On Hardness And Glossiness Of Pine Wood (Pinus Sylvestris L.) Exposed To Outdoor Conditions, Mehmet Budakçi, Musa Atar

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

This study was performed to determine the effects of exposure to outdoor condition and of the bleaching process after exposure outdoor conditions after the bleaching process on hardness, both parallel and perpendicular to the fibre axis, on Scotchs pine (Pinus Sylvestris Lipsky) wood. For this purpose, samples were exposed to outdoor conditions for 12 months, and afterwards they were bleached with solution groups of 18% NaOH+H_2O_2, NaSiO_3+H_2O_2 and Ca(OH)_2+H_2O_2. After the bleaching process after exposure to outdoor conditions, hardness was determined according to ASTM-D 4366 and glossiness was determined according to ASTM-D 523. The mean hardness values (swing) of the …

Effects Of Bleaching And Impregnation Processes On The Hardness Of The Varnish Layer In Beech Wood, Yalçin Örs, Musa Atar

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

This study was performed to determine the effects of bleaching and impregnation processes on the hardness of the varnish layer in beech wood. For this purpose, samples were impregnated with Tanalith-CBC and Immersol-WR 2000 and bleached with the solution groups (18%) NaOH+H_2O_2, NaOH+ Ca(OH)_2 +H_2O_2, NaOH+ MgSO_4+ H_2O_2, NaHSO_3+H_2C_2O_4.2H_2, NaSiO_3 +H_2O_2, KMnO_4 +NaHSO_3+H_2O_2. Synthetic varnishing was used and the hardness of the varnish layer was determined according to ASTM-D-4366. The mean hardness values (swing) of the control samples were found to be 35.57 for unimpregnated and varnished samples, 23.50 for samples treated with solution groups and varnished samples, 45.78 for …
